In records dating back to 1945, Grambling has only lost as many as eight games on three occasions, twice at the end of the tenure of legendary former coach Eddie Robinson and then in 2006 under Spears.

Wow!!! I'm shocked. Great move by Grambling. Spears did a horrible job this year. That team had talent, but lacked motivation and coaching. Now, please go out and hire a good coach.

You need money to hire a good coach. Southern can, but will they.

You're exactly right JR. I talked a friend of mine last monday night that's a Top *ram alum (imagine that)and he said then that the drug testing debacle had everybody ticked off and that Spears was dead in the water.
 
Grambling State is one greatest football programs in all of college football.. Now, the Tigers need hire coach that have history of winning games and knows how win championships. This coach has history of beating FAMU, Southern, Jackson State, Troy State, hampton, Applichain State, Grambling, BCC, SCSU and even gave coaches and defensive coordinators nightmares during his eleven stint in meac.. Well, the man also won two naia national titles at Central State and won six sbn national titles as well.. GSU couldn't go wrong with hiring Coach William Joe..

Mike White is decent coach and has done nice job winning in SIAC.. But he history choking in the postseason and losing big games.. I don't see him fitting quitie well at Grambling..

Grambling State should take look at Edomoton Eskimios Defensive Line Coach Dennis Winston. Winston knows and understands the tradition of Grambling State University and Tigers Football during his time as assistant under the legendary Eddie Robinson.. He protegee of Chuck Noll, Frank Broyles, Eddie Robinson and Danny Ford.. Also Winston can bring new more aggressive approach to the Tigers defense.. I believe he would recruit more athletic linemen unlike Spears..
 
I have feeling that Southern will win SWAC Conference and Sbn national title in 2007.. Pete Richardson just need made some changes to defensive staff and start back running the football like he did back in 2003.. then, the jags be fine..

The coaches that should really been fired today is no other than Texas Southern Steve Wilson and Alcorn State clueless head football coach Jonny thomas.. Because Rip Saw Thomas and his brother Dennis definitely knows how destroy program that has strong tradtion of winning big games and national titles..

At $250,000 Southern should expect more than just a SWAC and SBN National Title. Southern should expect a perfect season, which includes kicking some PWC's tails for fun.

They are going to the Rose Bowl because of history and tradition, definitly not because they were the best band. They have been cosistently worse the past few years

don't hate bruh, it is what it is, they are going to the Rose Bowl for a week then off to Miami for 4 days, be proud that an hbcu is doing something positive damn!
