He said that they looked like nappy headed hos. If he said nappy headed ***** hos then that would be racist. If anything it was sexist...but I've heard a lot worse right here on this page.

I really can't say racist because he did say that the TN girls looked good and all of them on the floor were black. So I really don't know what to call it.

But believe you me, if he could have called them n!gger$, he would have.

I believe you...but I think he would have called them dy_es before ni__as. I think that's where he was headed anyway. The other dude said they looked like the Toronto Raptors.

Maybe Im just a little too sensitve when it comes to Imus. I will stop talking now.

*just throwing this out*

Can you completely rule out racism? What other group do you know that's referred to as "nappy headed"?

:)

Just answering:

Caucasians, Hispanics, prostitutes, strippers, drug addicts, abused women/children, goths, and some church members, to name a few groups.

Yes it was. Never liked Imus neither. Like Sybil said on Tom Joyner, he's a living corpse.

Where have you heard that many groups being called nappy-headed?

I know Im not as old as you....but, I ain't a spring chicken either. When Ive heard someone refer to someone as a "nappy" anything (except, "dug-out"..now THAT's universal)...it usually references someone black. Now, I ain't ever heard of a white person being called nappy-headed....or, church members. That's just sounds like someone called someone who wasn't black, nappy-headed, from lack of a better term.

WHEN I WAS A KID the references to "nappy" anything were ALWAYS to Blacks. However, culture has changed things. With the advent and spread of Black culture into the mainstream (especially music videos, hip-hop, and rap) and the use of terms like ninja just to refer to another person, the lines have blurred. Interracial relationships have produced more nappy-headed "caucasians" (there are some Caucasians with naturally nappy hair). African-American preachers ministering to multicultural audiences has made "nappy head" an acceptable substitute for "hard head" as they share a message originally intended for a black audience with a larger one.

Times do change.

I feel you. Kind of like how folks are trying to "evolve" the "N" word.

Mack G...honestly, I think you could go with either/or, really.

And Sybil is the reason I don't listen to TJMS. Ain't nothing like hearing that cackling hyena first thing in the morning to grate on your nerves.....:smug:

Somebody mentioned on this topic in the Sports Forum on whether we thought those girls appreciated being called "nappy-headed hos'.

My husband's first cousin(New Jersey native) who is staying with us for the holidays just mentioned last night that his girlfriend just graduated from Rutgers and was a manager on the ladies basketball team.

She actually sat on the bench with some of those same ladies who are on the team now. She said those ladies said they wish people would just leave it alone, because they are looking forward to next season and are not focused on Imus at all.
