WALMART vs TARGET

target....i love the home decor sections, the only real reason i shop there. on good days you can catch a pretty good deal on items, but i mainly shop there for the home decor. dollar general is across the street.

walmart is tooooo crowded and the greeters and cashiers are getting slower and slower. too many children, and not enough stuff in stock. on any given day for a store with 40 cash registers, there will be 5 people checking and 3 of them are in the express lines.
 
I'll take WALMART

FYI--If you are only going for FOOD Try the Walmart Food Market. I never Have to wait in line.

Target is the "white man's" Wal-mart that's all :read:

Target is the bomb! i used to be a Wal Mart fan, until I moved off CObb Parkway and the only things that shop there are Jesus and Rodriguez and nem............ :xeye:

Well here in Little Rock the women cashiers at Target are fugly!
 
TARGET is my favorite. But Walmart has the best meat selection. If I shop @ Target I still have to go to Walmart and get the milk. I go to Walmart I run into everybody and their momma. The new Super Wally just pees me off because now they can't keep those self checkouts running. I went yesterday morning to pick some items up to feed the folks before rolling to the "B Ham" and had to stand in line..... Please make me understand why I had to stand in line. :saw:

Again...true!!! Wally World is still my store, you just have to know the right days and times to go to avoid Hector, Julio and Maria nem....not to mention Cleotis, Junebug and Boqueeta.
 
Target. There are a few Wal-Marts the L.A. area. They did put one in South L.A. at Crenshaw & King...in the mall. It is good for the community. Its close to work but there is a Target walking distance from home. I have been going to Target for years and probably would frequent Wal-Mart if it was more convenient.

When I go to Jasper Tx. I go to the Walmart Supercenter everyday. Ain't much else to do down there. LOL
 
Being here in Minneapolis........Target Headquarters, I have gained a new appreciation for their stores. There are way more Targets than Wal-marts here of course. Now Wal-Mart Supercenters, I love them. But the regular Wal-Marts usually are pretty cluttered unless they are brand new. Price wise, Wally world beats Target. But Target has overall better quality stuff than Wal-Mart for the most part. Some Wal-Marts if they are in a real nice area tend to be on par with Target. For example, I know that new Wal-Mart in Madison County, Ms. was pretty nice when I checked it out over Christmas.

JR, I love the Madison Walmart too; they do have better selection, quality & service (NEVER a long line + Self-Checkout.) But, they still don't hold a candle to me beloved Tarjet' :nod:

I live down the street from the "New" Target (off O'Neal Lane). There was a story in the advocate about the new Target a few months ago. THey said that Target was not trying to have the lowest prices (beat Walmart). Target look to have a better selection and to have a lot of stuff that other department stores don't have. THey do studies to determine how to place thier stores close to subdivisions that have moderate to high incomes, so that thier customer base isn't just price shopping and will pay for higher qualitly or more unique merchandise ( and to keep the hood out).
 
I am not crazy about the big box stores in general. But if I had to choose, I prefer Target because it is a nice atmosphere and I can get in and out of there quickly. K-Mart looks depressing in my area. Wally World (Wal-Mart) is too crowded.

I like Target, but not half as much as Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart has everything you need, and then some...besides, Wal-Mart's prices are a lot cheaper than Target's. I only go to Target for certain items that may be on sale, or if Target is the only store around.

Also, Target tends to be out of stock more than Wal-Mart.

Do you live in Old London Towne, The Woodlands, Centurion Place, Sheanondoah, ......?
 
I live in close proximity to both. I live closer to Target than I do to Walmart and I have to drive past Target to get to Walmart. If I just need a few small items, I go to Target because it's a lot less crowded. Target is also cleaner and more organized. If I have to get a lot of stuff, I go to Walmart becaue they have lower prices. When I go to Walmart, I try to go late at night to avoid the crowds.

Stirling purchases 8 acres at Target site

Stirling Properties completed a deal to buy about 8 acres off Millerville Road, which will allow the company to expand its Super Target shopping center, under construction.

Stirling paid $1.1 million for the land, according to paperwork filed with the East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court's Office.

"The goal is to incorporate this as part of a larger shopping center," said Gerald "Chip" Songy, executive vice president with Covington-based Stirling. "These buildings will face Interstate 12, while Target will face Millerville Road."

Stirling has had a contract to buy the property since fall, the same time that the firm bought the adjoining Super Kmart building and property for $5.5 million. While the old Kmart was being demolished to make room for Super Target, Stirling was getting wetlands permits for the additional land.

Super Target is set to open its second Baton Rouge store Oct. 9. Songy said the remaining shopping center should open in spring 2006.

The shopping center will have about 290,000 square feet of retail space. Target will take up about 170,000 square feet, Songy said.

Stirling has said the shopping center will include a Ross Dress for Less and Blockbuster Video. No other tenants have been signed for the shopping center, but Songy said Stirling is "talking to all the people that follow Target around."
