Vince Young is Broke

kid has been the best at everything his whole life and had all handed to him so he missed a few life lessons along the way....again, the people he surrounds himself with don't have his best interests as I knew alot of folks who were mad he didn't give them anything as they followed him since high school

Also he had a few bad business deals as he attempted to open a fitness center in a shopping strip of 288 that never materialized, he put his name on a restaurant in Austin with some folks, etc.

I get so sick of these whoa is me story from these athletes...it happens every damn year...can these ninjas read...do they not see or hear how this happens...I knew his uncle was no good...I hope he get's another job because he will be in a lot trouble for the next 10 to 15 years!

note to self...when I get my next extra 20k open a strip club...with these ninja's baby mamma's and daughters...the best and easiest way to get a ninja's money with no work to be done!

Living beyond your means....the other issue is when these players who have never had too much get this much money....they lose it.

That's the American way baby girl. Besides, every woman has sold it for something once in their life. Keep it real. :gone:

He didn't write the story.

Every athlete who thinks they are going to go pro needs to be forced to take economics courses in college. They also must realize hiring relatives as financial advisors is a horrible idea. If someone tells you they will double your investment in 10 years, they are either taking a massive risk with your money, or lying to you. Get yourself a REAL financial planner to take care of your money.

The NFL, NBA and MLB try to teach these guys about money, but they dont listen, piss away their and trust the wrong people with their money

A lot of these guys are set up from the time they are in jUnior high school...It is just not athletes. Greed is the problem. Find someone who is trustworthy and you will be ok.

College economics course won't teach personal finances and definitely won't tell you who to trust.

Most of these agents are shady. Drew Rosenhaus is now being suspected of shady dealings with his clients' money. Leigh Steinberg got caught up a few months ago. He was THE top agent. It ain't just relatives and it ain's as simple as going with a guy everyone else trusts also.

They should invest with major companies. That way, if they can every prove the money manager did inappropriate things with their money, there is a company backing it and they can get their money back. When you deal with an individual money manager, you are ass out if they steal your money.

To tell you the truth it seems as though those agents get just as tempted with all the money flowing through their ranks and sometimes they just can't help it,, and also the fact that they know that the people they represent in a lot of ways trust them more than family makes the more vulnerable to wanting to take money without the clients asking questions, IMO!

all these guys have motives at the end of the day from agents to mom, to dad, cousin joe when money is involved

The problem is some of these guys accept money from agents early on and they're forced to stay with them not knowing how they REALLY operate....these guys ain't taking legitimate life skill classe sin college so if you never had cash, how can you learn how to save and grow it?

You can't do that when you have every leech around you blocking the ones who really care about you and want you to have money when you retire.
Then look at how our "successful" black folks are showcased?

We see rappers and jocks showcasing their toys to everyone on MTV, Vibe, Slam, SI, ESPN and so on. You RARELY hear about the black jock/rapper/actor who has taken his money and made it work for him. Their stories do get told but in magazines, book or on networks that these boys, their leeches, uneducated fans and so on don't watch/read.

You don't hear about the ones that are millionaires in the pros that are living like they are middle class or making $900K a year.

Or when you try to talk about it to kids you have that ONE adult or worst kid that will call you a hater for bringing it up.

AZZ kissers hide the truth from their meal ticket.

You get the leeches out of the way and you can educate these boys. Don't think white folks aren't educating their jocks. How many former white players are making more money as coaches than they did as players?

Brandon Jennings from the Bucks is who I always think of when someone who lives like they are not rich...

Exactly. One of my boys who had a few years in the NBA said that they sat through hours and hours of seminars about money. But when you get that first check, and you're 21.....never had nothing all your life and you see aaaallll of those 0's- you can't judge them. It's convenient that all of us can say this as 30- and 40-something's who have never had to deal with the large amount of cash they had to deal with at such a young age.

Now having said that, you still gotta hold them accountable. Time to go back to school, get a job and find whatever it is that that they were meant to do. Football players are usually done at 30. Can't collect their pension til 45. Broke or financially secure, they better have a plan.

He should have opened a strip club. You can never go wrong with a strip club.
Right. Blue Flame been open since I was in elementary school in the 70's.

The biggest adjustment young pro athletes have to make is dealing with a wealth of free time and wealth.

While we're getting on athletes for the way they mismanage money, there have been tons or stories about lottery winners losing it all within a few years.

And these were supposed to be responsible adults. The stories we read about athletes, entertainers or the common man blowing large sums of money is only reflective of the society we live, considering the nation is running a multitrillion-dollar debt. Shoot, the college debt bubble is close to or at $1 trillion. We shouldn't really be surprised.
