Vick reportedly reaches plea agreement II

Dude, I've never said that Vick should lose his lively hood, and I hope when his legal troubles are over, that he will be re-instated into the league, and given another chance to play. I'm not a Falcon fan, but dude is exciting to watch, and I'm looking forward to seeing him play again, but he's committed a crime, and he deserves whatever the federal government, and his legal team agree to.

As far as doing my research on my history, I've done it over, and over, again, and I will keep researching it until the day I die. But as a proud black man, I'm tired of people like you, using the white man as a cop out everytime a black person does something stupid.

I grew up in a crime ridden neighborhood, full of the white man's drugs, alcohol, and guns, but there has never been a white man in my neighborhood who said yall have to drink my liquor, you have to sell, and use my drugs, and you have use my guns to rob, and kill your people. Those are choices people make on their own, some choose to go the right way, some choose not too, but in either case WE have a choice.

I lost a brother to the drug game, along with an uncle, a few cousins, and a whole lot of friends, and in no instance did we ever blame the white man. When my dad buried my brother, and his friends came by my parents house to tell my dad they were going to retaliate, my dad told them no, because that's the life my brother chose to live, and it came with the territory. Not "it's the white man, and his guns, and drugs why my son is dead."

I'm not knockinig you on your opinion, that's what you believe, hey man, it's all gravy baby, but Michael Vick had a choice, and he messed up, like we all have at some point in our lives. Some greater than others, but we have to get out of this "It's the white man's fault" mentality when we do.

NICE
Bump what you talking NICE. You should goggle Willie Lynch. :smh:

You can blame him for all of that because if you have done any research on your history you would know that he has had a hand and is having a hand in your demise. If you don't agree you are just going out of your way to be out of touch with society. Don't get me wrong I'm not up holding Vick for his actions but what I am saying is that the punishment should fit the crime. A man shouldn't lose his lively hood for killing a d@mn dog. Because if that's the case I should go to jail because I just poured gas on an ant bed and lit them on fire, my company will be getting my resignation in the morning and I will be turning myself into the Dallas Police Department.
Who taking Vick's livelihood??? That guy will serve a minimum sentence, and be back on somebody's team. I'll gladly welcome him as a Dallas Cowboys WR, KR/PR or RB. But the man commited a crime. Now he gotta do the time. Even if it's a law we haven't heard of being pursued too tough.

I just did a little searching on the www, and I've noticed that only Quanis Phillips is being mentioned as having prior convictions. Peace and Taylor, they don't say anything about priors for them. If, and that's a big if, Peace and Taylor have no priors, then why are they any less believeable than Vick???

Big Dummy for "Thousands of Dollar's" when he's a Millionaire. #1 Dumbest Criminal in America

I don't think dag said to blame the white man for Vick's predicament. Yes, he did make his bed and now he has to lay in that same bed.

The underlying point in this entire matter is that Black men for the longest have suffered injustice after injustice in comparison to White men.
This is the only point I'm trying to make.
The attention that this case is getting is a flat out joke when comparing it to the history of others being judged for the same crime or even worse.

Lady liberty has a blindfold on for a reason, in a symbollic metaphor to say that justice should not show favoritism, nevertheless when it comes to Black men, it seems that the blindfold is only covering one eye.

You guys who've been in the criminal system or who've had cases in the justice system know this. This is all we're saying.

I see you don't know your history, either. You need to go goggle Willie Lynch with me and DNICE.

Add me to the mix as well. I guess I should google Willie Lynch with yall too.

I get sick and tired of black folks always saying everything is the white man fault. It makes me want to :vomit: My old man(rest his soul) always told me that I was accountable for all my actions. Nobody makes you do anything you don't want to and unless it is a life or death situation with somebody about to kill you or your family then everything else is a decision that you have control over. The MAN didn't make you rob, steal, cheat, lie, kill(unless you are in military and you volunteer for that these days), become a gangster, etc, etc....Life is about choices and some folks make the wrong ones. Now the consequences may not always seem fair, but it is what it is. Simple as that.

You're not saying anything we don't already know. I see it damn near every day. But I think dag is saying exactly what you're saying he's not. I tried the "they did it and nothing happened" excuse with my parents and got knocked up side the head. Principle's the same. That defense ain't a defense, even though it's true. Vick played this entire situation wrong from jump street. He should have owned up to his role, apologized in a very contrite manner, made a couple of donations to some animal rights groups, and I really don't think he'd be in this bind right now. But he dug in, denied everything, and wound up having to cave in when he saw that he was in a no-win situation.

This is one lesson I hope that he and other young African American athletes have learned, but we all know next month there will be another one in the news for some bullschit like this.

Side note: I hear Rae Curruth will be released in 2014.

Good points, but he was probably taking the advice of his lawyers. Are they White? If they are, then he can blame them.:emlaugh:

Marbury expresses support for Vick

Embattled Atlanta Falcon Michael Vick has a friend ? and fellow doggie disrespecter ? in Stephon Marbury.

"I think we don't say anything about people who shoot deer or shoot other animals," the Knick point guard told Capital News 9, an Albany TV station. "You know, from what I understand, dogfighting is a sport. It's just behind closed doors.

"I think it's tough that we build up Michael Vick and then we break him down."

Vick agreed last week to plead guilty to federal dogfighting and conspiracy charges.

Some of Vick's teammates shared Marbury's support.

"Mike is very human," Alge Crumpler, who who came into the NFL at the same time as Vick, said. "I think this whole ordeal has kind of dehumanized him for the last couple of months. But he's hurting. I do know that. That's a fact. He is hurting."

Others disagreed.

"He's not on the team," running back Warrick Dunn said. "That pretty much makes him an ex-teammate."

Vick is likely to be sentenced to at least a year in prison ? and perhaps longer ? after he enters his guilty plea next week. He also faces certain punishment from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell under a tougher personal conduct policy that went into effect this year. Vick is expected to miss at least two seasons before he can even think about a comeback.

Coach Bobby Petrino addressed the situation with his players, gauging their feelings and trying to get a handle on how they wanted to express it.

Some wanted to talk. Some didn't.

The Falcons won't be making an immediate decision on Vick's future, having been asked by the NFL to hold off until the league gets a report from its own investigator.

That hasn't stopped some players from trying to reach out to Vick, offering support as he faces the possibility of a lengthy prison term. Crumpler and offensive tackle Wayne Gandy have both been sending frequent text messages, trying to let the quarterback know that he's not alone.

"It's kind of hard," offensive tackle Wayne Gandy conceded. "You don't really know what to say."

"I try to send him a positive note every day," Crumpler added. "I want to make sure he keeps his head up."
