This really shows an underlying flaw that you really need to address... you have two obsessions in life, Grambling and what the white man thinks. Apparently this is a deep lying hangup of yours and probably goes back to your childhood or early teen years. I don't know your age, but I would imagine that in your formative years you were forced to endure a lot of heartbroken trips back east on I20 after Gram whupped that azz (again and again). The obsession with "what white folks think" is really a concern to me. We need strong Black men (always have) who are not so conscious of white people but is confident enuff of his own self worth to move forward. Oh well, as you have said... Maybe it's how you were raised.

you know most of these peeps on here are lame lol i don't see the joke either but "to each it's own"! you know it's a sad day in the swac when peeps have to go all the way back to the 90's to create a thread and it's 2008, but when your'e apart of Greatness and your'e always in the spotlight it comes with the territory! Let JSU and their irrelevant counterparts laugh! JSU and some others don't have room to talk lol! The only difference in GSU is that the ICON is always in the media and the rest aren't given the benefit of the boubt to be worthy to get that luxury! Hope yall stay tuned to ESPN from August through January: you will see Grambling's Band in the media once again for the entire college football season! Youtube that also!

MikeBigg...you are trying to equate the debacle of your band and its public buffoonery with football when you know thats not the case. If thats the way you want to handle this sad situation, so be it. But the rest of us black folks are tired of bearing the cross for your clown ass band.

Do you see the guy in your signature? He didnt die at the hands of the government so your band could get in front of white folks and do this:

Dude, get over it. It's not that folks focus on Grambling out of admiration, it's just that you guys are so easy to focus on because of the stupid decisions your band director has made over the years.

I'm talking about the bumpin and grindin TAMPAX commercial, the "black-face" half-time shows, the "hold dat Tigah" youtube video and so much more.

You guys seem to be oblivious to your own step-n-fetchitness" and don't even know it. You call it hatin Grambling, but it's far from hate, it's more like "hilarious pity".:tup:

Naw delock, the BOOM will stick with appearing on smalltime television shows such as....Motown?s 30th Anniversary television special. The BOOM can only handle smalltime shows like the NAACP 34th Image Awards television special or shows like Motown and the Image Awards television special.

Instead of settling for the BIGTIME TAMPAX commercials, The BOOM will humbly settle for simply being known as Hollywood?s band of choice.:tup:

Delock the Boom can out play that loud, stealing band from Houston. Man do you guys even know how to play a march or what a march is..Grambling is on TV a lot cause they ho themselves out like that. I don't want JSU in that mess and the season of the tiger and or college hill. And we have been approached for shows but we just want ho ourselves out for anythin.

Oh yeah USA Today you will see where out money has been going for the Band.

You need to give it a rest... it has nothing to do with any social issues. Well not on our part, but obviously with you, it's about "what white folk think". Is it the tuxedos that you have a problem with? If so we can donate some to your school...we can always buy more.

I would understand if we altered our routines for a certain target audience, but it's basically the same routine regardless of who is doing the cheering. We wear the tuxedos because we can...if you guys want to use them, we have not problem donating to charity. Do you guys have a 501(c)3 letter so that we can file the proper paperwork once the donation is actually made.

The envy you have is really beneath you... I understand the need to attempt to ridicule those above you but don't be such a hypocrit and pretend it's because of social activism on your part. It's called cross over appeal...but that's probably above your level of understanding so I won't hold that against you. Maybe when you and your program grow up and overcome the envy of Grambling or your enhanced concern over what white people think, you will become more secure of who you are as a person. I'll pray for your continued enlighthenment. In the meantime...you may proceed to divert from the fact that you got issues that counseling and prayer might help.

MB, there are NO AMOUNT....I repeat, THERE ARE NO AMOUNT of words, phrases or clauses you can come up with, to erase the UGLY stain the Grambling band has brought on the SWAC, HBCU bands and Black people in America, as a result of it's buffoonery and shaninigans just to please that "man"..:smh:
 
Attempting to use Medgar Evers to smack is a sign of desparation and denial... I hope my comments don't result in your becoming too stubborn to seek help merely because I stated it. It is not our fault that we have cross over appeal...we simply take advantage of financial opportunities.

We are not so obsessed with what "they" think, we are secure in who we are and what we represent. As I stated, we perform our routines in a consistent basis regardless of the audience. And really it's okay to dance around and with white people... you'd be surprised that they really ain't that much different. You don't have to be afraid of them or even in awe. Music is universal and crosses barriers. Next time you see a white person it's okay to walk how you normally walk...it's okay to purchase your spam from Wal-Mart. And don't just go there and seek out the Black checkout person... white folk eat spam too.
