Time For The SWAC Presidents To Make A Hard Decision...Starting with Hard Decision #1

Re: Time For The SWAC Presidents To Make A Hard Decision...Starting with Hard Decisio

The Question is are they laughing at me or am I laughing at them? Laws do have loopholes in them...especially when a Federal Law must be administered by the NCAA.

You can laugh all you want to laugh, but there's no way you can eliminate certain sports that cater to females. Black folks don't do rifling and fencing so your theory is dead on arrival.

Re: Time For The SWAC Presidents To Make A Hard Decision...Starting with Hard Decisio

How are they cheaper?

Also, Title IX requires the number of scholarships to be proportional to the student population. How many fencing, water polo, and rifle recruits can you find?

That's what I was about to say. You still have to travel to compete in any of these sports. LOL. Plus how many kids would HBCUs really get in those sports. LMAO. Even some big schools don't have some of them sports he named up there. Water polo? really? Any sport pertaining to being in the water which includes swimming would not go over well in the SWAC. I wish we did have the money to invest in HBCU swim teams.

This thread is dumb. Very dumb. Please continue to school this man. :emlaugh:

Maybe black folks need to start infiltrating and attempting to excel because some, @ certain schools like the SWAC schools, cannot even compete w/ white boys/girls on the football field or basketball court. A video is so self-explanatory for those who are too dumb to understand the message. :emlaugh:

Re: Time For The SWAC Presidents To Make A Hard Decision...Starting with Hard Decisio

Why don't you take this "proposal" to Alcorn's president's office and call in the AD and see what they tell you.

Maybe add rowing (crew), Equestrian (how much can hay cost to feed the horses right?) and cup stacking.

Re: Time For The SWAC Presidents To Make A Hard Decision...Starting with Hard Decisio

Title IX.
You have to maintain a equal % or ratio of women athletes to men. I think FOOTBALL is the one exception where they know the numbers won't be equal.

^^^^This^^^^

Plus those sports like Volleyball and soccer offset the disproportion brought on by football.

Re: Time For The SWAC Presidents To Make A Hard Decision...Starting with Hard Decisio

Water polo? In the words of John Starks: Did dis man just did dis?

Re: Time For The SWAC Presidents To Make A Hard Decision...Starting with Hard Decisio

Any man that wants to get rid of women's volleyball needs to be publicly hanged.

Re: Time For The SWAC Presidents To Make A Hard Decision...Starting with Hard Decisio

Obviously black kids cannot play football too well against white kids. :smh:

Did you see the way that WR just DROOOOOOOOOOOOVE PV's LBer on that 23+ yd TD run by their RB? :emlaugh: Also, that big TE for NDSU could've wormed his way in as no one on PV's defense wanted any parts of attempting to tackle the pit bull. lol I guess this type of football vs these type of student-athletes is something awfully new to the SWAC judging by how NDSU had their way w/ PVAMU and SHSU had its way w/ sTu. :emlaugh: In the state of texas, a hotbed of HS football talent and got...droooooooooooooooooove. :smh:

I think @ least PVAMU and sTu should try equestrian or water sports. Certainly cannot compete on the gridiron (locally) or afar.

I miss the glory days of our track program!!!

Gold medalist in the 1988 Olympics

Silver medalist in the 1992 Olympics

Stone won a gold medal in the 1988 Olympics as part of the 4 x 100 meter relay team and won silver in the same event in the 1992 games. In 1988, in a meet in California, she ran the fastest 200-meter race in the world that year, at 22.34 seconds.

Damn who wrote this piece because they got some facts wrong...yes Dannette did win those medals but the 1992 silver was not for "the same event" of the 4x100 it was for the 4x400 meters who did get silver...how I know because I was on the 4x100 relay team in 1992 and she was not on it and we got an gold...second while that race in California was the fastest time at that moment it was not the fastest time for the whole year remember that was the year of Fojo and her magnificent performances on the track but even Gwen Torrance and Pam Marshall for the US ran faster times that year not to mention the foreigners Merlene Ottey, Grace Jackson, Heike Drechsler

Re: Time For The SWAC Presidents To Make A Hard Decision...Starting with Hard Decisio

Well I knew you were on that team. I have been a fan of yours for a long time. I have kept up with track for a long time. Oh forgot I don't know who wrote the article.

:lol:I don’t want to perpetuate any stereotypes . . . but since we are talking about black female athletes and swimming. . . “BLACK WOMEN AINT GETTIN THEIR HAIR WETâ€￾

Bruh, I had taken 3 swimming classes at Southern, from beginner swimming to advance, and found that MOST (not all) black women will not get their hair wet for nothing . . . not even for a grade. Most of them would show up for class on the first day and the last. I knew this one chick that put her commission in the Navy in jeopardy because in 4 years of college she didn’t learn how to swim. The only thing she had to do was tread water for 5 minutes and she couldn’t do it.

Re: Time For The SWAC Presidents To Make A Hard Decision...Starting with Hard Decisio

Can't we replace some of these sports with cheaper options such as Rifle, Fencing, Water Polo, Swimming, etc? All of these are offered by the NCAA.

Yes, they need rifle and fencing options with people like you starting threads like this.

Re: Time For The SWAC Presidents To Make A Hard Decision...Starting with Hard Decisio

No wonder they're at the bottom of the conference; overall.... :smh: This mentality explains it ALL!

Did you see this?

North Dakota State budget.......17 million
Prairie View budget...........9 millions

Do you have 8 million dollars to contribute to your Alma Mater to recruit better athletes and even the playing field? Are you suggesting that color trumps quality if the athlete happens to be white? :emlaugh:

Re: Time For The SWAC Presidents To Make A Hard Decision...Starting with Hard Decisio

Is there a requirement to the number of athletes that have to participate in any one sport?

You right man, and the first place we can start is Football, you only need 15, the 11 on the field, A lineman sub, a back sub, someone the sub the QB on defense (everyone else can play both ways, but we surely don't want our QB doing that), Now here is the "Hard Decision #1" what are we gonna do with that 15th spot? another back, Maybe a kicker, this a a hard one. We will let Alcorn start this off.

I will probably cost a good bit for you city folks, but at Alcorn, probably free.

Are you suggesting that for 8mill addt'l that PVAMU will recruit a better brand of student-athlete? God forbid being in a hotbed of HS football talent IN the state of texas AND PVAMU goes to maryland to recruit? When PVAMU takes the field vs SFA fall 2013, whose budget is in line w/ PV's :read:, what will the excuse be then? Enrollment? lol

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

This conversation is officially over. :smh: Univ of Minn athl budget 80+ million, NDSU athl budget 17 million. Univ Mich...AppySt... Enrollment #s are also differing between the FBS and FCS school previously mentioned. At this level, it's not about the $$$ for recruitment. Did the super HS ISDs in texas leave the state? OU/OkSt/Nebraska left a few, if you didn't know. :emlaugh:

You know we can come up with some EXCUSES, but no answers.
