The SWAC is soft. Let’s just admit it

I would not rate the entire SWAC a soft as Icon Gram won one and lost a nail biter to A&T. All of the Alcorn losses to A&T were within a TD with the exception of their last matchup, but still scored 44 points. They never laid down.

Really only Mississippi’s only urban university is the soft one, and certainly no one is surprised as we know how Ole Faithful performs in big games (well documented since the SWACpage days).

J-State has the worst margin of defeat against SCSU and the most shameful performance against NCCU in CB history. A squad many thought was G5 caliber with over 100 years of NFL coaching and playing experience made a mockery of the SWAC.

Let it be written and let it be done that Thee holds the title alone of being soft.

these folks won in OT and we led the game twice. Go sit you losing arse down. Did you beat us?

The truth is JSU was the better team that just didn't prepare. Let's be real if JSU wouldn't have went for those two points they would've won. That one is on coaching. Also the coaching staff didn't really prepare for this game. They were concentrated on Colorado.
CEE, you said a mouthful in the above statement!

No I’m a man HBCU fan. Been watching SWAC football as long as I’ve been watching MEAC football.

You guys are overreacting…badly

When the SWAC was losing to A&T in the CB, they were losing to a generationally great A&T squad. OVERALL, the MEAC is not physically stronger than the SWAC.

Head to head, too to bottom, the SWAC will win the majority of contests now. I’m sorry JSU nor Alcorn could win the big one.

You could have been watching SIAC and CIAA football for decades as well. That’s nothing more than a beautiful story. At the end of the day, your school, (who many around here still haven’t accepted), is new to the SWAC and the culture. (Because it’s not the same.)

If you still were in the MEAC, your tune would be different. At the end of the day, the numbers are on my side in this debate. The MEAC has outmuscled the SWAC for the past 25 years when is comes to our overall match ups, and have dominated the SWAC when it comes to the big stage. Yes, the SWAC has found very few good days, but not enough by far. You need to look at the results instead of your feelings or what “you think.” Check out rushing yards and hard nose defense in these SWAC vs MEAC match ups. Especially in the Big Games.

Wow! Look how Thee has been humbled. A self-proclaimed G5 program is content with an OT loss after being favored by over 2 TDs. J-State made a mockery of the SWAC with 100+ years of NFL experience on the sidelines.

Do you really want to compare past victories and losses between Icon Gram and J-State? Just like Celebration Bowl victories J-State will not fare well in this comparison.

Umm...didn't y'all fire the only SWAC coach to win a CB? iCONs be iCONing I guess.

Feelings? No man…I’m trying to tell y’all to get out of yours.

It’s one game. As someone who lives deep in SWAC territory now and has had the privilege of watching a lot of SWAC ball in person, the brand of football in the SWAC and MEAC aren’t much different.

For example, FAMU dominated SCSU last season. FAMU lost to JSU, but JSU got dominated by SCSU. MEAC coaches are simply out coaching the SWAC rep. But neither brand of football is drastically better or worse than the other.

Hard nose defense and smash mouth football has the MEAC leading the SWAC in final results when the two conferences have met up in the past 25 years. You can’t overlook facts.

Dude yall won the CB on a penalty. Come on? You know our team was in shambles and Deion made some bad decisions even on game day that cost us that game. That's the past like when Gram was relevant. Let's focus on the future cause we still out here adding pressure.

The SWAC is not soft....we just don't take out of conference games as serious and by the time we get to the Celebration Bowl our coaches and players are too relaxed in their current scheme.

Let's be honest a SWAC team can lose all their out of conference games and still end up in the SWAC Championship if they win all of their conference games. Then let's take it a step further and look at the contracts and the bonuses. Does a coaches contract provide incentives for out of conference wins or just specific games.
This is the PV Way. lol

Dayamed OOC fcs in-state schools and accepting an L from them; just try for the IC c88nery lol.

What's the SWAC non-conference record against other FCS programs the last 5 years?
While at that one, look at the increased # of cupcake, non-competitive schools each school/staff schedules annually.

VU-Lynchburg is an annual SWAC whore as was Bacone college, Lane college, North American university (WTF?!), Florida Memorial university (lmaooooo 😂😂),

The SWAC is not concerned about OOC wins. Think about it...would you risk a starter being injured for a game that does not garner you a bonus as a head coach and the game does not affect whether you go to the SWAC Championship?

We need more games vs lesser divisions and penciled in Ws. Especially the way we love to take on these prostitution games vs P5s. Since colleges don’t have jamboree’s or preseason games, a cupcake never hurts. Everyone does it here and there. Nobody wants to see Alabama vs Chattanooga, but it’s a good ole “practice game week” or “rest the big dogs” game.

The SWAC hasn’t been scheduling well. We are taking too many FBS-G5 games and playing agreeing to FCS deals that make no sense. Our overall conference record vs other FCS programs in this era is pathetic because we don’t scout programs well at all. We often see a SWAC team that finished in the middle of the pack or lower face another FCS that finished in the top 3 of their conference. If we saw more SWAC teams face mid to lower ranked Ohio Valley, Big South and Southern Conference FCS teams, I am sure our record would improve.

We need to be concerned. I hate our losing mentality with a passion. Prostitution games vs P5 opponents/top tier G5s, non conference away agreements vs top 10 FCS programs, and the good ole “as long as we win the SWAC” mindset is why we have the worst conference in all of Division I.

History shows a win and the game to be the most watched in CB history. That is the national appeal of the Icon of BCF. J-State’s colossal losses were a national embarrassment to the SWAC despite having the most heralded talent and coaching staff in BCF history.

Exactly when was the team in shambles? Was that before the 2 TD point spread or after surrendering over 6 yds / carry and damn near 300 yds rushing? Shameful.

BTW, the game was lost after the pride-less act of allowing Prime to return from Boulder. Hopefully, the lesson is you cannot beat principle and principle won at the CB.

That 6 yard per carry was because we were missing DL and then Prime suspended Gaddy.

I do agree with you on the return from Boulder part. That should not have been so but we had no choice.

Soft talk. Not one football player on this planet puts on pads with this mindset.

JSU had better players on paper, but NCCU was a much better team. And better coached team. I do think the non-conference schedule helped. Even A&T was a much better coached team than Alcon. Hype and media attention doesn't mean you have better players or a better team

False. We had starters on DL suspended and in the portal. That's where the game was lost. Congrats to nccu though
