The Sonic Boom showed out at the SHC!!!!

Just folks on here looking for the attention they don't get at home. It is what it is lol. Boom sounds good to me and other musicians that actually know music lol. Half these people are just bandheads that probably wouldn't know what a music note is if SU didn't have it in one of their logos. Outside of the tempo problems, alot of people gave the Boom props on the sound and songs they played. The reason half these folks don't know what was played is because a lot of those songs came out before their parents were born lol. REAL music. Something this generation knows nothing about.
yeah cause everybody wants hear all this migos and young thug nowadays..lol

Hey Big Head are you Murray??????? ID check please someone.

man why yall keep bringing up Dr. Murray for? He ain't got nothing to do with this thread & Big Head is from (I don't know where)

Dude said on every site and I'm on the other site saying the same thing I'm saying on here which is that yall not the best sounding, nor the 2nd best sounding band in the SWAC LOL

I can't give my opinion now? stop crying and get better shat

You cornballs slipping and wanna get mad a me....Me...I aint the enemy folk, it's your trash ass arrangements and piss poor direction that's your enemy..

Like I said, if you don't bring any excitement come Saturday..folks will look pass yall..yall holding on a thin thread..

SU already don't get hype fo yall anymore...all yall have left is the fans to try and blow smoke too..(the ones who don't know any better, but I'm bringing the truth out)..and if SU run through you cornballs, then you wont even have that..

Step up is all I'm saying...make the matchup worth attending..

Honestly, I don't hear this improved boom. Still sounds like the same Nawlins HS sound, just with bigger numbers. I don't hear this clean musicality some are speaking of. Granted, the effort is there. But, so many of those "technical" lines were just run over. That may fool most JSt'ers...but, not everyone else. I wish that mid-80's boom was across the field to send that ol'skool tune (forgot the name of it) right back to this new version.

But, ey...some these folks are the same ones that say "Jupiter" sounds good...s...m...h. That 300+ is killing yall...and, some of you boom alum know it.

TennSt just sounded more collegiate, more together and just overall better than the spread-out, constantly-losing-tempo boom.

Now, for actual trash talk (well, actually, "truth" that Im sure will be deemed trash talk)...it's gon' get real late real early for the boom against the "S". They're punishing, and ain't even crack the spine on the book, yet. Good luck boom and Jr.Bacon boom (Dega)

Both bands did good in my opinion. I like the direction the Boom went this game outside of the fieldshow (Little know he wrong for that darn James Brown theme and dance routine lol. I did like the drill though and the JSU77 which is new and different). If not for the tempo issues of the percussion being 2 miles away in the stands I think things would have been alot better for us.

As far as TnSt, they have gotten a little more SWACish which I like. Just didn't care for alot of the arrangements and stuff they played but they still sounded decent nontheless. The Boom did outplay them on a bunch of tunes but because of tempo issues it makes it seem otherwise.

Overall it was a great showing and I always love the JSU vs TnSt match up.

Good job both bands.

Nothing was wrong with the James Brown theme IDEA especially on the heels of "Get on up".... but a lot was wrong with the execution. Not to mention that James Brown was "turrible"... LOL

TP, I done told you to leave the band stuff alone. Don't have the Boom on your arse like they had get on GR a few years back for getting on them for playing during the game when JSU had the ball.

oh well, just saw the show. not impressed at all. Maybe because I'm old and I've seen it all. Usually at a halftime show these days, I just sit there with my face in my palm like "ok start the 3rd quarter". Tired of the same ol' stuff and that dance routine sucked and the James Brown crap was boring as hell. The clip I saw had very little volume but maybe that was the person recording it. Either way............C-.

Big Head is from SU. LOL. He just like riling you guys up. But he is through and through a Jag!

LOL smh

just want them cornballs to stop living off their name and stuff of the past and get better, they hadn't done nothing to SU since 2010 (and that's a reach)

I'm just looking for some comp to go at SU...Everybody says JSU this and JSU that, but every time they have faced, SU makes it look so easy..

Even the other bands..put up a better fight, thus me saying Dega may be the next to at least make folks talk about someone trying to come for SU..

sheesh..

we will see friday and saturday..i must say SU got a book though ..smaller and pushing watts..let the battle begin

SU is bigger this year than last year by a few. The amazing thing of all this is. I marched when were 128 then 160 for one year on the field (all male though) and there were alot of bands who were 200 back in the 80s. TxSU may have been the biggest in the SWAC. Always had numbers. JSU was bigger. Now all of sudden folks feel bigger is the better thing. I hope SU stays at 192 on the field. Doc Greggs said that was the best number to have if you are going to increase. We did it in 86 for one game before Doc zipped it back down lol. Never liked seeing all these 300 plus bands. After awhile it is not much you can do with it on the field but float into some designs. FAMU was great at it during their hey day.

Anyway these bands need to all focus on their halftime shows more than just blowing the stands. For us that was extra. Now folks think it is the most important element. It is a reason we are called marching bands. But I digress. I expect my Jukebox to have a serious repertoire as we always do. That has always been a SU staple. But I am hoping this Saturday that BOTH bands put on exciting halftime performances for the fans like we all used to do back in the day.

Same stuff every year lol. JSU sucks, JSU aint bringing it, The Boom sounds highschoolish, the Boom aint bringing it, JSU can't compete with SU, JSU arrangements suck, JSU this, JSU that lol.

Folks gone always talk and always have an opinion about EVERYTHING lol. Thats cool or whatever. But one thing I can say is WE are JSU, not SU, PB, TnSt, or nobody else. WE play what WE like and what pleases US. WE don't care about nobody but folk from JSU so all these opinions are just that lol. As much as yall would like us to care, we don't. Though it is much appreciated lol. At the end of the day, we gone continue to do exactly what we are suppose to do just like every other school and band and thats please OUR fans lol.

Btw, everyone doesn't like JSU or SU. Some people like PB, Alcorn, TxSo, Miles, Bama St., Gram and so on. Don't expect everybody to like the same things.

TigerTrail, we are in agreement about these shows. I didn't see the JSU show just heard about it. But in general, me and the homeboys that marched in the Boom have commented over the years that the SU vs JSU battle has become so STAND oriented that the halftime shows are like meh.

I guess I am old too. Back in the 80s, SU was already a beast in the stands before other bands got so STAND crazy. Most of the time bands plotted to get us at HALFTIME because they already knew they were not blowing the Juke away in the stands. Tn State, TxSouthern and FAMU would go toe to toe with us sometimes in the stands. The JSU and SU game was all about the halftime shows because both bands were pretty much going to pull out the stops at halftime. The stands were extra. And if you got WAXED at halftime. Nothing you did in the stands mattered. We would always laugh at some of the other bands trying to play all second half because of what we did to them at halftime. LOL. Doc Greggs would be just be looking with an evil grin. Like their arse blowing a bunch of nothing trying to redeem themselves from a pitiful halftime performance. We would just pretend we went to sleep on them in the stands. Now all you see is everyone rushing to the stadium to see the STAND Battle. I don't mind it. But that should not be the focus. But that is just me.

Couldn't agree more. Marching band is about just that. Folks get waaaaay too into stand battles and all that extra stuff. I am also one that would like to see more emphasis on fieldshows and the effort put into them by all BDs. Everybody has been doing the same things so long it all has gotten redundant and boring. We have too many young people starting to get on staff for our bands to be where we are. I know theres some creativity going on inside their brains somewhere. They just have to think, pull it out and put it to some use. It can be done.

I agree as well! It's like you've seen one show you've seen them all. All the dances are recycled from years and years past. Halftime used to be it for me but seeing the same shit from all bands now I prefer the fifth! They all suck to me these days!

You're right and back when I marched in the boom our focus was always halftime because we didn't have a fifth anyway! As.long as we got house at halftime we felt victorious! I was thinking the other day as well, where the hell has all the creativity gone? I use halftime now to load up on snacks because there's nothing I haven't seen!

It's sad if anyone would think JSU out performed TN State. JSU reminded me of ASU at the JMC.

Both bands were decent, nothing to brag about.

I sho hope dem folks from ASU is not dissing JSU - where in the hell find the Honey Bees.
