The New ASUN Football Conference

Another difference is we get paid to do some of those other things. The NCAA playoffs dont pay us. You all are giving up close to a million dollars and TV time to play some lil backwoods white school on ESPN3 in front of 3423 fans. Make it make sense.

The only sport that pays is Men's Basketball. Every other NCAA sport doesn't. All the NCAA does is cover the traveling of the teams to the site.

And for the 1000x time , the Celebration Bowl doesn't give a million dollars to the school that participates.

They give the conference 1 million. In the MEAC it's a 70/30 split between school and conf and in the SWAC it's 80/20. Also expenses are deducted from that money from the schools.

But i guess saying 1 million instead of the 500k which the school actually receives in net profit sounds better

It doesn't matter what the split is since it's still more than what you get from the FCS playoffs. If it's $2.00, it's $2.00 more...
Why shun 700K from a prominent bowl game and national exposure to go to a non paying, non exposure game?

Because dwight told us that's the only way he will respect us instead of us unmercifully beating dwight when he appears on our schedule. We seek the infamous "atta'boy" pat on the head, from dwight, while being relegated to constantly travel to Billy-Bob, Montana for acceptance.

What are we shunning? We have won 4 of the 5 celebration bowls. We clearly have proven ourselves as a power in HBCU football. Now , we would like to see how we fair against the best at the FCS level.

It's really not that complex. And the fact we moved conferences saves us on travel which would be about the amount of the bowl payout.

So the money is a wash. We move to a higher rated conference and we have less travel time for our athletes. And a chance to compete for the FCS title.

What's the issue?

You want us to win the next 3 celebration bowls too?

Your Dee white man jokes would make more sense if , HBCUs weren't competing against the Dee White man in every sport except for FCS football for championships. A school wants to play for a FCS title and now we're sellouts lol

Let me know when the HBCU Final Four , HBCU World Series , HBCU Volleyball Championships , etc are gonna be held.

Since we hate Dee White man so much?

If you go to the playoffs, you will have 4 games to prove you are the best. If you had stayed in the MEAC, you would have had those SAME 3-4 games to prove you are the best.

...and you were not about to keep winning celebration bowls. You barely could beat Morgan State consistently.

Drown how? We are adding sports. Improving our facilities and winning at the same time.

Lol did you even read this article? Big South will have 6 football schools after N. Alabama and KSU go to ASUN. They have always been ASUN member , ASUN just didn't offer football.

We now have wide open flexibility with the schedule. Our future schedules look pretty good

5 conference games
1 game with ASUN / Big South Challenge
2 or 3 HBCU / FCS / FBS games.

The SWAC and MEAC conferences should focus on becoming FBS football conferences - there is no financial advantage by participating in the FCS playoffs. If everything goes as planned - The Celebration Bowl can remain as it for the top 2 teams. The other teams with 6 or wins could possibly play in other bowl games because of the great fanbase support of the two conferences. Also, the teams could demand greater payouts when they play SEC and ACC schools if they are FBS member schools.

If teams are struggling to meet the requirements now, can you move to FBS in Football. A move to FBS requires 85 scholarships. Schools are struggling to fund the 63. Where is that revenue to going to come from?

You get $450k or less as an FCS opponent against major FBS

As an FBS you now get $800 or more

There’s your difference
