The Alabama State Mighty Marching Hornet Guide to Being Loud

I was about to say, I don't remember no swaying, I really just noticed that swaying like in 2005... AND YES...THAT CRAP LOOKS BAD, but i just thought i was hating on my own band

Nope, it's not hating.......u just calling it as you see it.

As much as I am a DIE HARD Davis Baby, this was one of my favorite songs from 1998 during the Bray/Chapman Era......I know the video quality isn't the best, but I still don't see any swaying. And they are still powerful without all the "yankin" of the horns, or whateva da hell ya'll call it.

http://www.bandhead.org/video/alabama-state-university-1998

......everybody repeat after me; "Step 2".

WTF Bama State lol!

"Snake"

aye bay bay!

LOL @ Vette and Snake. I can only imagine the barbs during MCC week. Do yall sit together at the game? Or do Snake go to the AAMU side with the bruhs?

The step 2 .........wonder where that came from.:D

Still say ASU should have kept my CB Ralph Chapman.:lecture:

~Walks out~ (Thanks Smoke)

Personally, I think BamaSt. should cater to the bee-hive look. Don't sound like too much...but, they look like an angry set of bees.

 Honestly, we go our separate ways that day (we even ride in separate cars  ). We usually don't meet up until the 5th in the end zone; then we tailgate together.

Yeah, Chapman was a good arranger; I'll still say they were looking/sounding too SUish for me during that time period.

I wouldn't say they sounded SUish.... They just had a dayum good sound... It's a 1000% times better than what we are hearing now....

For what ASU is attempting to do these days, they might as well have Chapmen back over there, atleast they would be doing it right...IMO

LOL @ the chest tenors. Well alot of schools use that model though. I don't know if that was ever just a SU thing although we have had them forever. I think that might be a New Orleans originated deal. I think.

I do know in Middle school we changed ours to chest tenors and that was in the 70s.

I think all band directors bring their alma mater's flavor to the school they are at. But what they all should be careful of is making a carbon copy of their school. Ralph was definitely a good arranger. He arranged a few of our tunes in the 80s when were all still marching. Still can hear us playing "Too Many Games" by Maze. He arranged the isht out of that.

I always hoped my CB could get on the SU staff or even take over as BD one day. Ralph is cool peeps too.

Yall be serious about the MCC. I can see Snake right now instigating some stuff about ASU. I am going to have to make one of those MCCs. Go tailgate with the bruhs and catch up with MD and Plowdog.

Last I heard Chapman was head director at Concordia College in Selma, Alabama.

Yeah I think so. I need text him and see how he's doing. I know I had heard he was somewhere at a small school in Bama. I saw at the BC last year and forgot to ask him where he was working.

You should come this year. And yeah, we don't play bout the MCC. You should see us during MCC Week- he'll put Maroon and White shat all in my closet and on my car; then I'll put a stuffed Bulldog in a cooking pot and change his ringtone to "Halftime Fanfare," etc. :emlaugh:

Yeah, we get crunk wit it. But it's all in fun.

Did I ever tell you we played the concert version of Maleguena for Bama State Honor Band in 95? I played the solo on this shat! Tell Danny Davis to give me my freakin medals! I'm still waitin on them to come in the mail.

Them Scouts were (and still are) the TROOF...

That other stuff is discipline stuff that when you go to try and correct it, it's misconstrued as hazing. People get away with it, then teach it to the younger ones after them. Then those younger cats think that's how the shat goes, then look at "you old people" funny when you ask WTF they're doing.

Styles should evolve over time, but quality shouldn't diminish.

Man, I wish I could do a reality show of you two that week. I can see it now. If St. loses...yvette has to wear a windsuit. If A&M loses...Snake has to do that left-arm wing-thing and double time around the house....

Even when I was younger, I used to wonder how different couples held things together if their school's were hated rivals. Not to go observant on you newlyweds...but, this will be fun this season....

tell me about it! I got kicked out one year like that. The problem I have is, damn if you(directors) wont let me a section leader/upper classman correct shat without it being taken as hazin, then you do it. But of course, they don't. Which is why you see the sway shat. Da fucc these directors or assistant directors for that matter  :rolleyes: doing?

Its funny and serious. In high school, my ex was always Bama st bound and me A&M. It was always rough during Classic week even before we became apart of the bands. He went on to be a MH but when I told him I was transferring to A&M AND march, if you could've seen his face. :emlaugh: Man he talked some mad shat and he was mad at me for weeks. :lmao: he wanted me to transfer to Bama St. I don't think we were as cordial to each other as Vette and Snake are, we used to really get into some heated arguments after I crabbed. When I see him to this day, at Classic I have to tell him off top, don't even fucc with me cause you gone get yo feelings hurt.
