I saw this on another site and couldnt help but laugh lol

I've heard of many techniques to increase your sound but apparently them "Bama Boyz" and their Alcorn sidekicks have invented a sure fire way to be "loud". STEP 1: Sway (rock side to side to move the sound from your lungs to your horn). STEP 2: The Backbend, put your horn straight up in the air at a 90 degree angle or further if possible. Remember, the further back u +!@#$ the horn, the "louder" the sound will be when u "throw" it out the horn. STEP 3. The Tiptoe ( Contrary to popular belief, the sound doesn't come from the diaphragm, it really comes from the toes.... See, what happens is that all the sound is stuck in the toes so in order to release it, one must jump on their toes like Michael Jackson to get the sound that is trapped in the toenails. STEP 4. The Eyebrow ( Ever had trouble finding that high pitch... not anymore you don't. Bama State has had this figured out all along. The secret is to raise the eyebrows while looking up for the note in the sky.... the higher they are raised the higher the note will be..) STEP5. Be creative. ( Even though there are notes on the page, there are invisible notes that can be played too. To find them, go back to step 4 and they will fall out the sky into the horn and across the field. STEP 6. Rests. ( I bet ya'll thought rests were when the band stopped playin huh? NOT!!! Its actually the chance to play a one note solo while the band listens to how "loud" you are. STEP 7. PLAY WIT SOME NUTS!!! If your band doesn't seem to get that then have your Drum Majors wear spandex as an example, They wont know what nuts are unless they see them... Thats it folks.. All plain and simple. SWAY, BACKBEND, TIPTOE AND EYEBROW... Now i understand why The Mighty Marching Hornets of Alabama State continue to strike fear in the hearts of Jackson State and Southern EVERY year....

my name notr attatched to it lol.... I copy and pasted it from another board.... I think the dude that started it went to SU or JSU.

I see a lot of trumpet sections (ours included) that do that swaying isht and almost every band has people that cock their horns...

Yep. Snake showed me this topic/footage last night and I said the exact same thing when I pointed it out in other band footage.

But the only thing with us is that it's becoming too obvious when u got dayum near the ENTIRE brass section doing it. :smh: Personally, I think that shows a lack of disipline cause if u look at old stand footage of us and even other bands back in the 80's/90's, u won't see ANY of that swayin shat. :smh:

I hate that swayin shat. this must be some ole new skool bs.

what happened to always point your bell as if you playin to the press box?

Funny shat!

this swaying thing........please breakdown what it effects sound wise? I've seen atleast 60 percent of the bands in this conference who has ultiple sections sway.

I was actually lookin at some older footage yesterday and saw swaying also... ~shrugs~

As much as I am a DIE HARD Davis Baby, this was one of my favorite songs from 1998 during the Bray/Chapman Era......I know the video quality isn't the best, but I still don't see any swaying. And they are still powerful without all the "yankin" of the horns, or whateva da hell ya'll call it.
