Re: SU waits for SWAC reaction after fight

Whatever happens, it is not Alcorn's Fault Southern decided to schedule us for their Homecoming/Senior Day...:D:

Wouldn't it be a shame if they score ends up being Alcorn 45, Southern 7 in Spinks Casem South?

Re: SU waits for SWAC reaction after fight

Phreeze come on man....with an SEC school every bowl game is good for the conference.

If any school isn't playing in bowl game during or after New Year's Day, it ain't major to me. The SEC didn't force them to not go to that bowl game or forfeit. What make you think the SWAC will make members of the conference do it?

Regardless...it was a bowl game which means money. That was Lou Hotlz last game and he stated the team will not play and they didn't. The SEC and the South Carolina backed him. Now us black folks don't want to punish some fool arse *****es for doing the dirty. This should have been resolved earlier in the week by the coaches of UAPB and Southern. They know who the fool arse *****es were....

Man, I hope we slap the sh-t out of y'all (PUN Intended). You been talking too much crap for that mess up there man.

Re: SU waits for SWAC reaction after fight

The last school that earned my respect with a team brawl was Lou Holtz when he chose not to play in a Bowl Game; and they forfeited.

THey didn't forfiet the bowl game, they just didn't accept the invite (Like LSU's Womens basketball team didn't accept the invite to the NIT last year). I thought it was moreso because Lou Holtz knew he was done and didn't feel like coaching another game. If they would have been projected to be in the top 5 next year with a bowl win (like LSU, Alabama, and Oklahoma did this past year), I bet they asses would played in that bowl game with the quickness and would not have been worried about that fight.

Re: SU waits for SWAC reaction after fight

Yes I thought it out and the school fighting should pay out money to the school they forfeited to....simple as that.

For example GSU/SU fight in a BRAWL at the Bayou Classic.

GSU plays Alcorn in the first game: GSU should pay Alcorn a set amount.

This should be in the SWAC rules....you forfeit you pay out $200k....something like that.
That is part of the swac's Problem. Setting precedents that are not common and ordinary. What it really sounds like from your series of post is you are begging for a win. If we want to be treated and compete like other conferences we must play by the same rules and same standards that includs teams, coaches, players, officiating and administration. The fight was ugly but had it happened in any other conference would you expect such action.

I'm not begging for a win. Not my style. Hell we lose...we lose. I have never posted BS being blinded by passion about GSU on this site or any other site. I'm not like other folks with this "G Thang" mess. I'm a realist.

Re: SU waits for SWAC reaction after fight

The Southern and Arkansas-Pine Bluff football teams were in a holding pattern Monday, still awaiting disciplinary action from the Southwestern Athletic Conference after the fight that followed UAPB’s 22-21 win Saturday at Golden Lion Stadium. The conference issued a statement Monday afternoon saying it is “currently reviewing Saturday’s post-game altercation†and is “concerned and disappointed†that the afight happened, but is still working to obtain more video footage “before levying any actions.â€

“No definite timeline has been set for a decision from the SWAC Office,†the statement concluded.

Hey this article indicates that two people from Jefferson County (Ark) were arrested. On those other threads people who didn't even attend game said SU folks were arrested. The guy that was arrested had an outstanding warrant and he's at the game acting a fool.

Fans on the east side of the stadium were throwing soda and water bottles on to the field, and at least two people left Golden Lion Stadium in handcuffs.

The Jefferson County (Ark.) Sheriff’s Department arrested Michael Cooper, 23, of Jefferson County, for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, said Maj. Lafayette Woods, spokesman for the department. Cooper was also shown to have an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in Jefferson County Court.

Woods said he did not know whether Cooper was still in custody Monday.

Brittany Fisher, 20, also of Jefferson County, was cited for misdemeanor disorderly conduct and released, Woods said.

You know not a single one of them will acknowledge that .... it doesn't fit THEIR AGENDA.

Re: SU waits for SWAC reaction after fight

He read about coach Holtz and jumped the gun. To forfiet a bowl appearance is totally different from 'not planning' a scheduled regular season game. Another team plays the bowl game.
bruh honestly did you think this statement out before you typed it? The opponent is losing MONEY, a full football game (damn a forfeited win).... concessions, parking, etc.

Re: SU waits for SWAC reaction after fight

I said repeatedly that a few fans (PB) sit in that area. Usually they are older persons. I thought (maybe hoped) these were SU fans.
You know not a single one of them will acknowledge that .... it doesn't fit THEIR AGENDA.
If no one else says it "I am shocked and ashamed of what these few young thugs did. You just do not see that sort of thing at UAPB. I am proud of my team. You do not enter my home and jump on me because you lost."

Re: SU waits for SWAC reaction after fight

Sixteen members of the Southern University football team have been suspended for at least one game because of their involvement in a post-game brawl last week at the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff.

In making the announcement today, the Southwestern Athletic Conference office ruled that three of those players will have to serve a two-game suspension because of the severity of their involvement in the scuffle after Southern's 22-21 loss to UAPB. At least 25 players from UAPB have been recommended for suspension
