Swac Basketball - 2/05/11

Tweeted by Ross around 1/2time if the JSU Alcorn game

“@RossDellenger: JSU RB coach Greg Ruffin and Alcorn State head coach Melvin Spears chatting it up.â€￾

Ruffin be everywhere

I figured they would lose to Alcorn or Su so I'm not surprised at all

Hopefully the ending of that 7game winning streak we had adds fuel back to the JSU/Alcorn rivalry
It's been pretty lackluster/one-sided the past few years.
Hopefully we can start packing the gyms again due to the rivalry being competitive again (bc right now JSU/valley is the premier instate rivalry)

Alcorn on a 2game winning streak!!!Having only won 3games. Thats good news for Alcornites

Let's see if Anderson takes his embarrassment out on SU (Monday)
Or will they continue to play "soft/weak" basketball and score his 3rd SWAC loss

Hell, anytime a JSU-ALCORN basketball game is FREE, there are some major issues with the program... A program with so much history has hit rock bottom..Dave Whitney is probably having fits reading about the program and to think somebody he coached, who was on the undefeated team led by Whitney, is a HORRIBLE coach!!

I watched the game online. Larry Smith did a good job scouting us on film. They killed our pressed and got easy layups and dunks all night long. Anderson should have called the dogs off. Not to mention we should not have been getting dominated on the boards like that. We played with no Enthusiasm what so ever (sleep walking is more like it). Alcorn came out and executed very well, they wanted this game more and it showed. O yea we have got to be the worst freethrow shooting team or close to it in the conference lol. Recipe to beating us is dominating us on the boards and sending us to the foul line, good Win ASU.

...and according to Rob Jay, the crowd was still sparse. But this is where you blame JSU fans. If Alcorn can't fill the arena, we should have took it over...and took the pep band too. When you are the top team in the conference, you act like it!

I beg to differ with you on the free throws.............

Iron unkind: Prairie View looks to solve issues at foul line

Prairie View A&M has been fortunate to average about 22 free throw attempts per game since the start of Southwestern Athletic Conference play.

But that blessing comes with a curse.

The Panthers (6-16, 3-6 SWAC) are one of the worst free-throw shooting teams in Division I with a 57.8 percentage, which ranks 333rd out of 335 programs. That number falls to 55.2 percent for their free-throw shooting in SWAC games.

No, NO, NO You can't take that title from us, WE are the WORST free throw shooting team in the SWAC, hell the worst in the US, at least we have women's basketball

BIG win on the road for Valley tonight. Everything we needed to happen almost did tonight (PV didnt hold their end of the deal lol)...

Another big game against those pesky Hornets at their place Monday... we can win that and we will have had a great 4 game road swing before we get Alcorn and Southern at home...

This was not your early 2000's ASU-JSU game as far as attendance goes. Man our basketball support started going down probably Sam West second season coaching. Whitney left him all the tools to be successful and he came in and changed the entire system. Why you think Trey Johnson got out of dodger. West didn't know how to utilize his talent, making him look like an average player. The crowd wasn't there but the energy was. Even the section behind JSU men's bench stayed crunk for awhile.

Congrats TSU TIGERS, sole possession of 1st place!!!!!!

Great crowd and atmosphere tonight, although The Houston Chronicle had the start time @ 8PM instead of 6PM.

2nd Half

Damn you PV.... lol

Hilarious, you are really delusional thinking PV men's BB can do anything, there's nothing to see from the purple and gold, we have a coach that should have been gone 2 years ago :smh:
