Spring cleaning at "The Valley"


Got love for my old coach Totten but I and others have been pulling for Valley Grad Hakim for a while now to lead Valley in a good direction. Look at his track record with our MVSU grad JSU AD Ashley Robinson he's been with at PV and JSU...
 
The guy selected as Valley's Athletic Director should have fundraising experience. 👍

Yeah I said a while back I knew that young Valley alums put in for it so I am glad to see one make it through. The powers that be went in a different direction with the young BD so they might go the same direction with this hire

We are talking about Valley here so never underestimate the power of niggatry that could go down lol (especially with that "bring back Totten and Rice crowd")

I actually made it to the interview today involving Hakim and all I can say is that damn near everyone was blown away by his presentation. Can't make it to the Totten one on Tuesday and I think it's probably a good thing.

I imagine there will be some type of fundraising plans released soon as far as FINALLY finishing up the (now new) home side with a new press box as it was supposed to be done 9-10 years ago but...

Meanwhile Hakim has been able to do in 20 months what she wasn't able to do in almost 10 years (the New Gym was built because it was deemed unsafe not because she raised money for a new one)

Also coming down the pipeline is an upgraded RV Park and a practice field/indoor indoor practice facility across from the Devil's Den)

According to the video, fans of MVSU football can expect a new turf football field and jumbotron added to Rice-Totten Stadium at Chuck Prophet Field, the 10,000-seat multi-purpose stadium that opened in 1958 as Magnolia Stadium and was renamed in 2000 in honor of former Mississippi Valley State football players Jerry Rice and Willie Totten, who set several NCAA Division I-AA records during their time in Itta Bena, MS in the 1980s.

In addition to the football upgrades, MVSU announced the resurfacing of its tennis courts, new signage, and school-colored metal panels for the Baseball/Softball pavilion. The Baseball/Softball pavilion will also get a roof overhang for rain protection, open-end bays for ventilation, and chainlink panels with vinyl baseball windscreen.
