"Leader of Kings"
Southern University athletic director Roman Banks will announce Kerrick Jackson as the Jaguars' new baseball coach Tuesday afternoon during a scheduled news conference.

The news conference is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. at the F.G. Clark Activity Center.

Jackson most recently worked as a professional sports agent for the past two years. Before that he was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Missouri.

Before Missouri, Jackson spent three years as a scouting supervisor for the Washington Nationals. He also coached at Nicholls State and is familiar with Louisiana, a major factor in his hiring.

Banks said Jackson's experience at Bethune-Cookman as a player helps prepare him for the challenges that a low-resource, HBCU faces.

COLUMBIA, Mo. • Missouri assistant baseball coach Kerrick Jackson has decided to leave the staff for family reasons, he confirmed Wednesday, but not without giving a strong endorsement that Mizzou keep his boss in place.

Jackson, who also has the title of recruiting coordinator, has been with the program the last five seasons and plans to move to Kansas City where his wife, Talia, has received a promotion with the company Burns & McDonnell. The Jacksons have two young sons, ages 2 and 3, and Kerrick wants to seek a job that affords more time to spend with his family, he said.

Seems like a solid pickup that will be able to evaluate talent and scouts will take his word as a former scout and scouting supervisor. The key is having a competent staff which I am sure Banks will allow him to do so as SU Baseball is a money making operation. As long as he doesn't alienate former players - he will be good!

Just worry about JSU. If you scared say you scared. LOL.
No one will know until the season after next and I don't know the man well enough to be scared.
What I do know is if he's half of what Cador was, then he'll be a good one.

So Banks is washing his hands of the Cador dynasty. One would think that he would've looked to Cador for guidance but it seems that he didn't. Oh well.

Look at the press conference. The SU system is still in place. They are very loyal to SU. Coach Jackson said he was getting all kind of text lol.

You do know Cador got a special position in the AD's office created for him. LOL. He is still able to guide and raise money.

What ties does this current coach have to Cador and su? He said he wanted to get "back" to winning championships. He kind of took a slight shot at Cador.

Come on JR. You know this guy wasn't Cador's pick, PLUS he has zero head coaching experience. In other words, he's a novice.

Cador had zero coaching experience as well when he took over SU. So did a lot of coaches even at the PWC level getting jobs after being assistants. And how do you know Cador did not know this guy? How do you know he didn't sit in on the interviews with Banks? And it shouldn't be Cador's pick anyway. He aint the AD. Banks is. You will make every attempt to down a hire. Even the white folks said it was a good hire. LOL.

Who cares what White folks said? I never said it wasn't a good hire, I'm just asking legit and logical questions.
As far as Cador not having coaching experience, that was decades ago when things were much different with social media, travel, player's attitudes, recruiting, APR standards, etc. I'm just saying that there's going to be a learning curve for this new coach.
Heck, for all we know, he might be another Cador in the making, but until then, the jury's out.
