I know ULL is supposed to be decent but you didn't play Florida state. As for the "missing 7 starters" excuse, that's not something I would highlight. I'm not content with the loss but saw some things S.U. can build on. ULL was just better and have a lot of talent. You can't negate the fact that ULL is #41 in the AP and Coaches Poll. I think what most can surmise from the game is Southern has cleaned up the penalty issues, team speed looked much better than last year at the same time, the defense harrassed Broadway on severall occassions, team depth is better at running back, the OL looks decent, this team is in good shape physically and overall team tackling was better. I can tell you this, that is VERY bad news for the rest of this conference. My guess is people will catch on and start shutting up after week 3 and 4.

Fact ULL first two scoring drives were assisted by bogus PI calls. Their next two scores happen because their WR clearly pushed off SU's DB. ULL also went for it on 4th down late in the 4th to add to the score. Broadway is WAY overrated, knew that I saw him play in high school. He threw two picks, should have been 4-5 had we caught them. When Broadway is hit, he starts throwing the ball up, and we were hitting the he'll out of him. Broadway also stares the WR's down. IMO Austin Howard is better than B-way :) .

I already knew this and that he'd be gone at the end of his contact which is next year in June. The news came out when the board was down and transitioning to hbcu sports.
I didn't care enough to post it when the board came back up but a guy from Grambling mentioned it today and it was news to most people.

Exactly. I don't get where they see anyone being content. I just find it funny that folks (mainly jsu) are always worried about our games against upper level competition.

He is telling the truth though. Broadway threw some horrible passes because he was under pressure a lot. We caught 2 ints from him, but should have caught at least 3 more that hit our DBs hands. And ULL was aided by a few questionable p.i. calls and offensive p.i. no calls. They still would have won the game easily, but they definitely had to work for it in the 1st 3 quarters. Once our team wore down in the 2nd half, the route was on. Don't have the depth to battle them for a full game in the trenches. Their RB ate us alive once depth became an issue.

Are you really trying to compare our loss with ULL to your win with FAMU?

You aint tired of looking silly...last year you jumped the gun early....said we would suck based on our 1st 2 games......and we won the swac.....jus chill and wait will we get to jacktown

Stop trying to make sense out of their nonsense. They are more excited about our loss to a D1 School vs their win against famu.

Well, actually, I said yall SUcked all the way up to and past last December. So far, you all have been proving me right. Last year, as you may know, we fired a coach because he failed to produce against sorry teams. He actually had a winning record against your school which we took into consideration and decided that that was not good enough.

Last year had more to do with the lack of talent of the other teams in the West, not su's quality of play. Last year, the West was the weakest it's EVER been and this year they may even be worse. I guess that helps out su once again.
Your team is not that good and your QB position is still up for grabs. Your running game and defense are still suspect to say the least.

Nonsense. Many of us are excited ANYTIME su loses....and our win has nothing to do with your loss except that we're 1-0 and you're 0-1.

You said that last year at Mumford and look what happened. You lucked up and won off of a fluke out of bounds catch that had nothing to do with your defense stopping us inspite of our ragged play.
su can ONLY beat JSU when JSU beats JSU with undisciplined play, penalties, stupid playcalling and turnovers, but this thread is NOT about that, it's about su's first game blowout loss.

Fact of the matter is that you guys need to quit playing those schools cause you can't compete....you just can't. ULL, NW State, McNeese and so on. You guys can't compete with them and it continues to embarass the SWAC when you do play them.
Now all you can say is WAIT for conference play?! Win NOW, not later.
