Is everyone in this conference scared of S.U. One would believe that we just invaded a foreign country, and stole all of their riches. I know you all are tired of seeing S.U. when championships but geesh get your teams together. Every team will have 7 conference games. The two teams with the best records from each division will got to the SCG. I had no idea S.U. strikes so much fear in our conference members heart.

Yep....judging from what we have coming back and what PB has coming back...it would have only padded our stats anyway.

Even if it was GSU (an example because we will always play) I'd say both teams should be eligible.

Vowels should have had the balls to make the decision. He passed the buck. And once he saw that PB was not represented, he (or somebody) should have had the COMMON sense to not proceed with that vote.

There's ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE for how this stuff played out.

I agree that Vowels passed the buck and that is really showing a lack of leadership. Yes he didn't do his job, but we all have to face the fact that OUR schools voted on this. All it would have taken to shoot this thing down was for a MAJORITY of the schools to say NO. The SWAC gives our Presidents alot of power to make athletic decisions. I don't understand why they are give so much authority to decide stuff that the AD's might be better at addressing. Anyway, they have the power and they need to take their responsibilities seriously and vote wisely. I'd really love to know what the vote was.

Man JROCK I'm loving this!!! :jump: They fear us so much and they don't even realize how obvious it is. :saw:

All this playing the game in aug. stuff is crap if you ask me. First of all if pb wasn't so small time they would have known not to make a move until all parties involve were satisfied with the offer. How in the h#ll are you going to have a party and not sure if anyones coming?

Secondly you can't just up and play in aug. that has to be approved by the Ncaa.

After the "miscommunication" of the St. Louis game, there should have been no reason to go to the NCAA to approve a game in August, because there's a date out there. It is NOTHING more than common sense to look for a date, during the season, which neither team had a game already scheduled. That date is November 20th.
There's not a legitimate reason for that game not to happen then and it's downright sad that SU refused to play on that date.

Read the gott-dang rules and stop showing your ignorance.......PLEASE!!!!

I dont have to read any rules. (as if a rule did exist, that makes it right or just. At one time, the Jim Crow laws were the "rules" too)

It only takes COMMON sense to see that the game should have been held Nov 20, since both teams were off that week.

No the game should have been played when it was originally scheduled. How in the h3ll will u move the location of the game without getting the approval of the other team and expecting us to pay for it. If the board wanted us to play on Nov 20th we would be playing on Nov 20th so stop crying and batching about it and move on. We're still gonna win the SWAC championship so it doesn't really matter if we played UAPB or not that's a "W" for us regardless. Ya'll idiots are acting like all 9 of the games count!!! Know the rules Du'Masses!!!

I dont understand the need to instigate further confusion in this matter. And that is exactly what you guys are trying to do. I find it appaulling that SU has been charged, indicted, tried, and convicted in your courts of justice as if PB is not equally at fault in this fiasco. But I do understand; on the other end of this deal is a target that can't be missed, a target that everyone loves to hate-- Southern University, who thinks it is all that, and who, for that reason alone, you despise. Nevermind that UAPB is also a player in this mess; but its no fun picking on little PB, who you have already adjudicated innocent in your court of misguided justice. Here's a rare opportunity to dog big bad SU, and hell would freeze over before you let that opportunity pass you by.

This is a matter that has been evaluated and settled by the appropriate parties, including the SWAC office, and it serves no useful purpose to continue to try and instigate contempt for either party. Is that to say that all is well? Absolutely not. But at some point we must lay this issue to rest and move on.

To force SU to play at PB next season would be tantamont to saying that all blame for the snafu must rest with SU. Such a disposition would be unfair and unacceptable. It may be equally as unfair and unacceptable to say that PB must play at Baton Rouge next season. It may actually serve SU's better interest to not play the game next year either. That would give SU an opportunity to schedule another OOC game, something that most of you prefer for your own respective universities. And since neither party is being penalized this year for not playing, they likewise should not be penalized in '05 if they did not play.

It cannot be healthy for the conference to level this much hate towards one of its member institutions. The only thing SU is guilty of, perhaps, is having the most successful program in the conference. And while it is understandable that such a feat usually will generate some animosity and jealously, the hate that is being directed at SU crosses the line. Ask yourself this question, and give an honest answer: Where would the SWAC be without SU as a member? School pride aside, I just think that the finest member institution the conference has to offer deserves better than that from you.

I have asked this, NastyNUPE has asked, SOG has asked this, now I want to hear the response from people Southern and UAPB.

If you do not play each other should you be allowed to play in the SWAC Championship or have the chance to be recognized as Black College Football Champions?

There's the question now answer it.

This is only my second time at this thread. The first time I was here for about a minute. So I will look to see if the question has been answered.

Any kind of ole unfair, deceitful, wrongdoing

I mean they actually voted on the PB/SU game, when NOBODY from PB had a single thing to say about it (cause they had given them the wrong number), while SU's chancellor was presiding over the meeting.
:vomit::vomit:

mh, please tell me that did not happen. The folks in the SWAC office could not be that crooked. Could they?

:o :o

If the game is not going to be in Pine Bluff, then the SWAC needs to go on and make that two years in a row that SU and UAPB don't have to play each other to make it fair.

You just can't make UAPB go to Baton Rouge when SU refused to come to them.

No way.

It would be fair and logical. But too often logic has not been in high supply in the SWAC office for the last few years.

I still don't understand how the hosting team would try to move a game w/out telling the visiting team and allowing them to make "proper" arrangements, in this case, with a third party. Once again, if this promoter offered Southern what he offered UAPB's opponent last year in St. Louis, KENTUCKY STATE,

CFUK UAPB!

As for keeping it fair, yeah, don't come to Baton Rouge next year APB. Who did this whole fiasco really hurt? SU should be able to recover any funds lost on you NOT coming next year. You know you can't say the same.

As for the rest of you, APB is the innocent lamb in this? THEY started this shat! If the promoter of a game UAPB traditionally participates in wants a new opponent for his game, who would he have to go through first? Hopefully, not the opponent as some would have you to believe. He would go through UAPB, who should pitch the idea to the visiting team (SU) and then connect SU to the third party. SU and APB, most likely, would have differing contracts for this game because I'm sure Kentucky State DID NOT get what APB did for this game last year. If that happened, and the contract was not good enough for SU, as both cities media reported, then, you don't change the damn date of the game, you change the LOCATION to either a neutral site (Little Rock) or put the damn game back in Golden Lion Stadium. It was that simple. Instead, you drag AAMU to St. Louis (AAMU, y'all took them pennies?) and change the date of our game with little notice on the SU side?

Dude if you don't get that self righteous BS off of this board...

Earle lets get somethng straight right now. Ain't nobody on this board hatin on SU, it just that you and some of your cohrts want to be hated on.

This situation ain't just about SU, its bigger than SU. Its about the entire conference. And the integrity of the conference is in question. There really is a simple solution to this situation. All SU and UAPB has to do is play this game on November 20th, but your administration refuses to do so because it knows that it will lose its open date before the Bayou Classic.

When you compound the foolishness of your administration along with the foolishness of the SWAC office and the other SWAC Presidents, it makes all of us look bad. Now if you can't take off the columbia blue and gold to see that then...

Please......If it would be any other member you all would be talking about the NBA playoffs. What is happening here is a few jealous, envious people are majoring in minor things. Why is this "an integrity issue?" Because the white boy in a newspaper said it? Dude, you should be ashamed to repeat that crap. I will ask you the same question asked to the almighty (snicker) Get Ready. "Was your president there when the decision was made?"

Ya'll must have been drinking too much of that bayou water. It's always everyone is jealous of SU or if it wasn't SU no one would care. This actually has nothing to do with SU in the sense that it's made out to be. It's all about a divisional game not being played between 2 division teams when they have a common date to play this game on. The commissioner of the conferance couldn't make a simple decision on the matter and passed the buck to folks that have no clue about what this is all about. They probably had the impression that this was similar to the JSU matter and it's not. It's also about how a decision was made and one of the participates had no say or no way to voice their concerns about the matter. It could have been tabled until they got the bugs out of the telephone conferance so all those involved and those that have to vote are there together. It's nothing more to than that, if it was GSU and TSU we all would still be on here saying the same things. The only difference is that the SU folks would see the light and be asking the same questions that we are doing now.

I really can't believe the boozhit that posted, UAPB and su were scheduled for Oct 2 not Sept 25. The promoter has full responsibility in finding an opponent for us, he does it every year and this year he wanted su and UAPB DID NOT want su on Sept 25. We considered the proposal financial suicide. However he continued to court su and without contractural agreement in hand su reschedules their Sept 25 game to Oct 2 and UAPB continued too have su on their schedule for Oct 2. Now when the scheduling fiasco is realized the two school begin to look for a replacement date to no avail. Now what's so hard to understand about that or maybe su can't handle the truth. As for me personally I think %uck su and the swac.

You talk about changing the location and not the date.Fool that date has been in stone for the last 8-10 years I know of. UAPB always participate in the Gateway Classic the last weekend in Sept, so that was never a questions because we never wanted to play su in St. Louis or did you get that earlier in my post? Now you can feel the almighty su but the facts are su nor the swac and worth damn integrity wise oh I forgot that's what makes you feel high and mighty.Look around every other conference in college football laughs at the swac, well deserved I might add!!!

Wow!!!! What a way to muddy the water. Thats a pretty good diversion JROCK. Lets blame "the white boy in a newspaper" for a black man's uckf up. Now it all makes sense. Lets forget about being accountable, lets blame it on "the white boy".

Believe me when I tell you that I have made calls to Grambling to find out what Gram's position on this issue was - (eventhough it is likely they were for the move also). But unlike you, I am not excusing Dr. Warner for this stupidity if she was indeed apart of it. If you read my post I made this clear.

When you compound the foolishness of your administration along with the foolishness of the SWAC office and the other SWAC Presidents (which would include Grambling's president), it makes all of us look bad.

SOG,

Look bad to who? No one outside of the conference fans really gives to ishts if S.U. has an eastern division foe count as a western division game. Thank goodness the TSPN inmates are not running the asylum (SWAC Office). The only thing I see that "looks bad," is the constant obsession with S.U. that is akin to the crab in the barrell syndrome. I am suprised that you are endorsing this stupidity. It is really not a Grambling thing to whine about small things. The C.O.P. have made a decision and the commissioner has given a remedy to address the problem in the future. You all need to give this young brother (commissioner) a chance and stop this demogague fest. More people (like you are doing) need to be talking to their president and administrators if they would like certain changes in conference direction.

Well dayum aren't the conference fans enough? I mean why should anyone else outside of conference fans really care?

give the commish a what? You might want to because he has already shown biasness towards you in 2 sports...

why would he pass an important athletic issue to a group of folks who don't care about football unless it's homecoming or classic time to hang in the skybox?

Why couldn't he ask the presidents to vote on the baseball matter? He quickly sides with Southern to get PV out and he does the same to Pine Bluff....sad that their own chancellor can't even vote..

Surely, there's got to be an SU person who sees something wrong with this process!!!
A vote on the UAPB/SU game when UAPB wasn't there (wrong number :smh: ) to give their side, while SU was there.(To boot, the SU chancellor is the President of the body making the decision). And the ruling that was handed down was favorable to SU, at PB's expense.
Where is the fairness in that???

Not to mention, 2 teams in the same division not playing, even though they have a common open date during the season. :smh:

This stuff is just all around WRONG!!!! And I can't believe some folks are actually defending it.

jag4life,
All I've seen is disparaging comments about PB from some SU folks.
Along with the usual diversion of accusing folks of hating SU.
I think a lot of the SU people are in smack mode, while a lot of other people are making valid, logical points.

Do you agree that what happened to PB was wrong?
Regardless of who may or may not be at fault for the Sept (or Oct) game in St Louis, do you agree that the right thing to do would have been to play the game on Nov 20?
