I have asked this, NastyNUPE has asked, SOG has asked this, now I want to hear the response from people Southern and UAPB.

If you do not play each other should you be allowed to play in the SWAC Championship or have the chance to be recognized as Black College Football Champions?

There's the question now answer it.

Come on guys... We've created enough threads about this same issue... Closing this one.

I'm reopening it, it is a hot topic and people still want to voice their opinions about it. Just because it's about SU and how they get their way and run the SWAC office like a puppet doesn't make it any less intrusive. The members of TSPN will get to voice their opinion here like anyone else can (as long as its according to the rules of the board). And closing it did not conform to those rules for thread closure.

As a unbiased moderator with no ties to either of the schools involved or that other school in LA, I have ruled........:smash:

I agree with Fiyah.

How can a Southern moderator close a thread that directly relates to his/her school? Being that you are from Southern and this thread is about Southern and it is justifiable question. I believe you should excuse yourself from any decisions on whether this thread should be closed or not (with the 100 post exception or vulgar language comes into play).

Because they are Southern, and you're not. :emlaugh:

The Last (and most important) Question about SU and UAPB

The question is . . . . . . . Where will next year's game (2005) be held?

Has anybody thought about that?

This year's game was Pine Bluff's game, but Southern refused to play there. Surely the SWAC won't make Pine Bluff go to Baton Rouge when SU refused to come to them this year.

No way would I agree to that if I were Pine Bluff's AD.

But of course SU isn't going to want to give up a home game next year.

This could be another fight.

Re: The Last (and most important) Question about SU and UAPB

we all know the SWAC will cater to SU.....why even waste your time Pine Bluff? They don't like you unless you side with Southern in all matters.....

Ok, OK, OK....now back to the question. Anyone care to answer it. Do any of you SU or UAPB folks think you should be eligible for the SCG now that you are not going to play each other?

Dear SWAC Office,

What good is it to have a 9 game mandate, if it is not mandatory for all 10 schools to compete against each other?

If the game is not going to be in Pine Bluff, then the SWAC needs to go on and make that two years in a row that SU and UAPB don't have to play each other to make it fair.

You just can't make UAPB go to Baton Rouge when SU refused to come to them.

No way.

I would put NOTHING past the SWAC,
Any kind of ole unfair, deceitful, wrongdoing

I mean they actually voted on the PB/SU game, when NOBODY from PB had a single thing to say about it (cause they had given them the wrong number), while SU's chancellor was presiding over the meeting.

Hmmmm, sounds like UAPB didn't get their "due process" in this matter.

Since my thread was merged with this one  , here's my question again.

Re: The Last (and most important) Question about SU and UAPB

If the game isn't in Pine Bluff next year, PB better have a problem with it and not let anyone run them over.

Oh believe me my brotha's, The Pride is pissed. My partners were discussing this and we concluded that the SWAC fugged us a like a 10 dollar HO!

But it's a broken glass that can't be put back together. They know they fugged up, and obviously they don't give a flying red fugg.
What's to use of b!tchin to some muthafuggers who don't wanna listen? ! But that's alright. I 'm through with it cause What goes around ALWAYS COME THE FUGG BACK AROUND!

yelp!!

pbla,

2004 may be a done deal, but don't let them screw you in 2005 ! ! !

Make Southern bring their arses to Pine Bluff, or refuse to play them.

Period.

Well, if UAPB really wanted to press the issue I think they could do it thru the justice system. They may not want to spend the funds to do it, you can always fight a decision "good or bad", look at the NFL vs Clarett case.

The answer to the question is yes, they should be eligible. The reason why they should be eligible is because that was the decision that was made and they stated that there would be no fines or penalities as a result. This is the decision that was made and approved by the Presidents and the Commissioner. Do I agree with the ruling? NO. I think divisional teams should play each other. I like the concept of playing the game early. That would be like a happy medium. SU would be happy because they would keep the open date before the Classic and they would also benefit by having an open date to break up that big string of games in September/October. UAPB would also have 10 games again with the SU/UAPB game at their place. This would also help to keep the schedule on track for 2005.

I don't think any of us can answer the question of WHAT the formula will be for figuring out the Division Champs and how tie breakers will be handled. The SWAC office said that they were going to issue some info on the ruling but I haven't seen anything in the paper or on the SWACPAGE. If they don't know what to do with this can of worms that they decided on, then how in the world can we???

As for implications on the Black National Championship, I don't really see how that is related. All teams will play their full schedule (whatever it is). Before this issue came up, everybody didn't have 11 games so why would this suddenly impact the Black National Championship, especially if the game is replaced.

I have an additional question for all of you. Have you contacted your Chancellor/President to find out why they supported this? They all knew that UAPB was not being represented. Do you think any of them voiced concern that one of the parties was not on the conference call? Do you think any of them abstained from the vote? Chancellor Jackson could not make this thing get approved on his own (at least I don't think the President of the Council of Presidents has that kind of power to overrule everybody else). Your presidents (or at least a majority of your presidents) had to go along with it in order for this thing to be approved. If you want to be mad at somebody, be mad at THEM. Does anybody know how their school voted? Does anybody know what the actual vote ended up being?

I'll start the count and say that SU was for the proposal. Anybody else have any input?
