No, I'm not wrong, The Advocate, WAFB (Channel 9), and the Eunice Police chief are wrong, because they are who reported this news. I'm going by what the media reported, which is all I can do. If what the media reported is false, then I simply repeated false information from Louisiana's media outlets.

You, on the other hand, posted all these comments, not me. YOU posted that you know all the pieces. I don't know this kid but from what YOU posted, you act as if you know everything about him. I guess since he was a former LSU player, that gives you some sort of inclination to comment as if you know him, but you really don't. So, it would appear that YOU are wrong.

Some time ago, I tried to give you some friendly woman's advice about discretion, but I see this is something that you continue to miss. And the irony of this is that you often like to post how others can't or don't read.......WOW!!.

Dayum Gul!!! :cuddle:

I honestly don’t know what point you’re trying to make, because one minute you’re making assumptions about this kid…….

And then you go on to post that the kid was drunk…….

But there was absolutely nothing in The Advocate that indicated this, nor was it indicated that the officer reported Simon being drunk. This also was not reported on WAFB (Channel 9), which leads me to believe the kid was NOT drinking nor was he drunk, because if he had been, you and I both know that (since this is a Black former LSU player who just got drafted), this would have been reported right away.

You posted that you “know all the pieces”……

But then you say this……

...........and this……

which tells me (I could be wrong) that you did not read the article that JagBR posted.

And as for your comments about his upbringing, they have absolutely nothing to do with what happened. He was showing off in front of his friends, and that's not something any of us is a stranger to. It's not for you to question his parental raising. But it would appear your "theory" about his parental upbringing is also incorrect because the Eunice police officer did say that Simon apologized to the officer.....

Dies said a copy of the arrest report was not immediately available, but would be forthcoming.

Dies did not give The Advocate a copy of the arrest report and did not return subsequent calls about the receipt of the arrest report.

The police chief said the resisting an officer count against Simon stemmed from his refusal to place his hands behind his back.

“He wasn’t aggressive toward the officer,” Dies said. “He did apologize to the officer for being rude. He understood he made a mistake and was showing off in front of his friends

That is all.

He's not lying! From Orleans all the way to Calcasieu it is that way. :emlaugh:

You have to stay drunk to live in some of those areas like Crowley, LA. :emlaugh:

Shidddd, outside of New Orleans, at one point Opelousas was the only other place in Louisiana that it was legal for bars to serve alcohol 24 hours. They hurried up an revised that law when they realized that people way from places like Crowley, LA were slamming into people homes while trying to leave the club at 6 and 7 a.m. in the morning. It was costing Opelousas way too much money to keep a full shift of police officer 24 hours. :emlaugh:

Mike, Simon did move his car when he was asked to by the police. The Eunice Police chief said he moved his vehicle, according to the article in The Advocate.

Good...excuse me because I didn't mean to imply that he did not. I was stating... don't give them any excuses. It's safer and wiser to challenge him in a court of law rather than out there wherever!

Back in the day they use to stay open all night right outside of Lafayette in Cade, LA. I think the name of the street was Lake Martin Road. I also believe they use to stay open pretty late at Vibes and Visions on the west bank around Baton Rouge. It's been so long but when I was younger, you would be hard press to find someone that ran those streets in S. Louisiana better than me. :emlaugh:

=JROCK;2148190]Both of you all are correct about certain things. He is correct that Eunice police and the city in general have racial demons that persist (it's well documented if you follow Louisiana's news). You are correct that a lot of our young people can't hold their tongues and on some occasions don't handle situations like this well.[/
That is most definitely true. These kids at my school will take something so minor and make it a big deal in a second due to those attitudes. And I know if they will fly off at the mouth at a teacher or principal, they will do it at home and to police officers too.

Even those that I thought didn't drink and were from that area were uncovered slush head. My ex-wife was from Opelousas and when we first met, she claimed she didn't drink. After we got married, she would keep at least two bottles of wine on the inside of the refrigerator door. She claimed she used the wine as a sauce for cooking, but by her being so short (approximately 5'-2"), I started noticing how she would hide behind the refrigerator door pretending to look for items to cook. Every time she would leave the kitchen, I would check to see how much wine/sauce she had used. I remember one time, she almost had a whole bottle of wine/sauce, but after she cooked one chicken dinner that whole bottle of wine was gone. And I really didn't taste that much wine sauce in her food. :emlaugh:

DCG, just use Simions situation as an opportunity to talk to your son(and his teammates that are his friends) about what to do when your pulled over by the police. there seems to be a pattern with black LSU football players. they are getting arrested on dumb charges when a normal person would have been just given a ticket and its over. it has been a badge of honor for these cops in louisiana to arrest an lsu football player the last few years.

Sounds like you guys came from two different cultures and probably shouldn't have gotten married. People in S. Louisiana are drinkers (not just Opelousas). I could tell by the way you characterize the area you've had bad experiences but you should have known what you were getting into. I'm sure your ex would probably call you a square. Opelousas has been a little different for a very long time. Gens de couleur libres (free Blacks) from New Orleans moved there in the early mid 1700's. Some of the first free families that moved down there if I can remember my Louisiana history are the Simiens, Lemelles, Donato's etc. There was a lot of jealousy by Europeans as well as Cajuns and some of those sentiments still exists. The power brokers were scared to put ULL in Opelousas because they couldn't stand to see more educated blacks. You have some highly intelligent folks that come from that area that are all over the country doing big things. Though it is a lot of drinking that goes on in that area, there are two sides to that coin. Also, you couple the aforementioned free blacks with the inhabitant which were Indians, chiefly Attakapas that mixed, it is no wonder you find some of the most attractive women in the world.

Vibes still jumping  , or Atleast that's what I hear. Not my crowd.

Yea, that was a long time ago for old JROCK. I claimed from Bridge City on the West Bank, Clear to N.O. east bank to BR, Lafayette Opelousas and all parts in between my party stumping grounds.

The only problem I had concerning her drinking habit is that she tried to hide it from me. Her momma did the same thing concerning her smoking habit, which I believe was the reason of her death. If someone's culture is to hide who you really are from your spouse, then you are right, we came from two different cultures, because I was taught to learn as much as you can about your spouse so there would be very little of second guessing of each other. Plus, Alexandria and Opelousas is only 45 minutes to 1 hour drive apart from each other, so I am somewhat familiar with that area since I knew a few people that I grew up with that had family there. A lot of the Black people in Lake Charles came from Opelousas. And sure there's a lot of attractive women in that area, but I find the Natchitoches Black/Indian mix more attractive.

You guys were not equally yoked. Sometimes you have to just accept those things and move on. There are a lot of people from Opelousas everywhere in Louisiana. A lot of them are in Houston too. You ask anyone in Louisiana who have the best looking women you'll here Opelousas, Lafayette, New Orleans but you won't hear Natchitoches very often (if at all). I understand why you feel that way which is understandable given the circumstances.

I won't disagree with you about not being equally yoke with my ex, but I do see you don't know much about Louisiana's oldest settlement. You probably don't hear much about Natchitoches because it is a lot smaller, but I've been all over Louisiana too and it seems to me that Natchitoches has some of the most attractive Creole mixed Black women per capital, especially along the Cane River Lake area, starting from Cloutierville and on up to Campti. Have you ever heard of Fort Jean Baptiste Historic Site. It was a Fort founded by the French to keep western invaders (Spanish Texas) from taking the southern part of the French Settlement what is now known as the Louisiana Purchase and the mouth of the Mississippi, basically New Orleans. Also, there are a lot of intelligent Black people that came from the Natchitoches area too. I'm sure you have heard of the Metoyer family. One of Louisiana wealthiest Black families (Ben Johnson) is from Natchitoches. People would travel from Natchitoches to New Orleans and make the place now known as Ville Platte in Evangeline Parish their pit stop. Opelousas might be old, but Natchitoches is older. A lot of Louisiana history can be found in Natchitoches. Also, there were a lot of freed Blacks in Natchitoches during slavery.
