SHOULD THE BOOMBOX CLASSIC BE IN JACKSON....

I think Houston should make a bid for this game when it is not in Jackson. The alumni support from both schools are great. I think we will be able to sell out Reliant and still be able to tailgate. This Clash could be BIGGER than the Bayou Classic.............

I disagree. I really wasn't feeling the game when it was in New Orleans. ~shrug~

I do like the atmosphere of the game in Memorial, but wouldn't want to have it there full time

No again...and I live in Houston.

never even heard the term BOOMBOX CLASSIC before now.

Guess I am out of the loop.

It was really a band thing I think. I just brought it up under that name.....rather than tigerjag or somethin' like that.

Not a CLASSIC with sponsorship.....just the game...non promotion. Just a good ol' football game.

Game should stay as a home and home game. SU would be crazy to give up a home game of this magnitude. I didn't like them taking the game to the dome back in early part of this decade.

In a way Classics are nice entertainment for the fans. But classics don't do anything for the cities for where the colleges are located. The revenue that is spent in the larger cities could just as well go to the small merchants in these college towns.

Take for instance, like Grambling,Louisiana/Ruston,La. If Southern were to play in Grambling, could you imagine the revenue the home town businesses would make?

Even the Delta Literacy Classic between GSU&UAPB now being held in Little Rock is not doing anything for the local businesses in Pine Bluff. How can the local business community help their local colleges when most of the games and the revenue is kept in the larger cities where the classics are played?

We need to play this game on campus in PB and Grambling. It is a good game for the economy of both area's.

TP, I was thinking the same thing with that bottom statement of yours when I was in Chicago. Could you imagine that game in Detroit or Chicago. Indy already got their own thing with the CCC. St. Louis might work. Hell we could go out West. LOL. But I am not really for playing each other if the 7 game mandate rolls either of us off the schedule. But if the powers that be decide we need to play during years we are not counting as a SWAC game, then hell yeah market that game somewhere. LA, Chicago, Detroit, Vegas come to mind. Don't know how JSU alums stack up out West. But I do know there are a ton of folks from the SIP out there. Most of my people are out there in LA , Oakland or in Chicago, Detroit and Cleveland. Only the youngsters of the family moved to the ATLs and such.

I hope conference schools don't play each other in years when the schools roll off of the schedule. The 7 game set up will allow us to grow rivalries with other FCS Schools in the region and the smaller FBS schools.

Taking it to Houston when it is a SU home game...

Southern could simply rent Memorial from Jackson State on the years that the game is supposed to be in BR. :D You can keep all the money just pay us our rent and concessions and parking...can ya dig it?!!!?

GR dont think SU can handle the business side of doint that. They cant handle the business aspect of their own stadium. The administrative part should be left up to JSU to just cut them a check.

Heyal no! I'm not even for playing JSU every year after the 7 game mandate goes into effect.

1. theres nothing to do in Jackson except go to the game. After the game- no nightlife, only a few good restaurants that are packed.
2. the people in Jackson act like they don't want you there. Horrible service in hotels and restaurants. No hospitality.
3. Tailgating is much better on the yard!
4. The same people that would go to Jackson, would be at Mumford. A true homefield advantage. Why accomodate them because they don't travel.

Man, you don't know what the heck you talkin about? There are several clubs playing blues, jazz, rap and rhythm and blues throughout the city. There's Vicksburg 30 minutes away for those who like to drink and gamble; there are several movie theatres, there are after parties, strip clubs, there's bowling for families, there's the huge cookout, there are dozens and dozens of restaurants, hotels, department stores for those who like shopping. And to top it off, you don't have to drive half an hour to get from one destination to another. What more do you need bruh?
Maybe you need to get someone to do your planning for you before you come to Jackson, or just hangout with JR or someone from the Mafia who don't mind showing you around town.

Bottom Line ...... HELL NO! We ain't Alcorn and we sure as hell ain't Valley. If you can't handle Mumford, then sit in front of that little thing with the batteries like they did in the 1950's. I don't give a damn if they have strippers on poles outside Veterans Memorial and "72 virgins" for each SU fan who makes the trip

If you can't Handle Mumford every other year like anybody else .... STAY HOME!

Dude you should be able to "only" tailgate and still have one helluva time. U don't attend with the right peeps.:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Aint had a scoreboard issue in a long time. New scoreboard has been there for a minute now. I think JSU has only come to BR once since we got it though. We played 3 times in New Orleans when the scoreboard got added.

Also we have had a new field/turf since 2003. You JSU fans just have not been to BR unless you came to Mumford in 2005 during Bell's last year. Before 2005 JSU had not played in BR since 98. Scoreboard, Field, Press Box all been upgraded. Next is the endzone seats, Field House and infrastructure under the stadium.
JR they might remove the track and add more seats so our stadium could sit 35k or 40k. Will it be to big for the Nation? We will soon find out.

1) I love going to Jackson

2) Hell no we ain't moving are home game to jackson, come to Mumford.

3) Both schools would be crazy as hell to not play this game every year for ANY REASON AT ALL. IT IS JUST PLAIN STUPID TO GIVE UP A GATE OF 50,000 plus just because some slow folks don't understand this one don't count in the conference standings. There will be 4 games that don't count in the standings, that's not a hard one. There is no game we could schedule that would take the place of this.

Man yall making at least 1.5 mil off this game at home. I wouldn't move that ish for nothing. You will make more in a few years with the additions

Its not about not wanting to come to Mumford.....thats secondary.
First of all, how does 900,000 dollars a year sound? Thats the first thing.
Mumford is an inadequate stadium. Its only good for a high school type game. This game is much bigger than that. Like GR said, the people of SU love to travel to a place where its all about everything that surrounds the event.

Jnaut

What is it that you want man? Cant you leave the Baton Rouge type atomosphere for a few hours for the sake of your school? With 900K yall can finally get some air conditioning for your coaches offices. Your AD needs to look at this from a business perspective.

Newsflash Sarg, JSU plays at Memorial for FREE, just in case you forgot.

As a JSU fan, I would say YES!! The environment is much more exciting and electric and more importantly, safe.

As an su fan, I would say HECK NO, regardless of the cheating, the bullet ducking, the destruction of visiting fans property and the gigantic traffic jams.

Like Journalist said, this game stands on it's own merit. Doesn't need to be turned into a classic.

Like we don;t have them here!!! :smash::smash::smash:
