I disagree. I really wasn't feeling the game when it was in New Orleans. ~shrug~
I do like the atmosphere of the game in Memorial, but wouldn't want to have it there full time
I think Houston should make a bid for this game when it is not in Jackson. The alumni support from both schools are great. I think we will be able to sell out Reliant and still be able to tailgate. This Clash could be BIGGER than the Bayou Classic.............

In a way Classics are nice entertainment for the fans. But classics don't do anything for the cities for where the colleges are located. The revenue that is spent in the larger cities could just as well go to the small merchants in these college towns.
Take for instance, like Grambling,Louisiana/Ruston,La. If Southern were to play in Grambling, could you imagine the revenue the home town businesses would make?
Even the Delta Literacy Classic between GSU&UAPB now being held in Little Rock is not doing anything for the local businesses in Pine Bluff. How can the local business community help their local colleges when most of the games and the revenue is kept in the larger cities where the classics are played?
TP, I was thinking the same thing with that bottom statement of yours when I was in Chicago. Could you imagine that game in Detroit or Chicago. Indy already got their own thing with the CCC. St. Louis might work. Hell we could go out West. LOL. But I am not really for playing each other if the 7 game mandate rolls either of us off the schedule. But if the powers that be decide we need to play during years we are not counting as a SWAC game, then hell yeah market that game somewhere. LA, Chicago, Detroit, Vegas come to mind. Don't know how JSU alums stack up out West. But I do know there are a ton of folks from the SIP out there. Most of my people are out there in LA , Oakland or in Chicago, Detroit and Cleveland. Only the youngsters of the family moved to the ATLs and such.

I can dig that.
Heyal no! I'm not even for playing JSU every year after the 7 game mandate goes into effect.
1. theres nothing to do in Jackson except go to the game. After the game- no nightlife, only a few good restaurants that are packed.
2. the people in Jackson act like they don't want you there. Horrible service in hotels and restaurants. No hospitality.
3. Tailgating is much better on the yard!
4. The same people that would go to Jackson, would be at Mumford. A true homefield advantage. Why accomodate them because they don't travel.

JR they might remove the track and add more seats so our stadium could sit 35k or 40k. Will it be to big for the Nation? We will soon find out.Aint had a scoreboard issue in a long time. New scoreboard has been there for a minute now. I think JSU has only come to BR once since we got it though. We played 3 times in New Orleans when the scoreboard got added.
Also we have had a new field/turf since 2003. You JSU fans just have not been to BR unless you came to Mumford in 2005 during Bell's last year. Before 2005 JSU had not played in BR since 98. Scoreboard, Field, Press Box all been upgraded. Next is the endzone seats, Field House and infrastructure under the stadium.
1) I love going to Jackson
2) Hell no we ain't moving are home game to jackson, come to Mumford.
3) Both schools would be crazy as hell to not play this game every year for ANY REASON AT ALL. IT IS JUST PLAIN STUPID TO GIVE UP A GATE OF 50,000 plus just because some slow folks don't understand this one don't count in the conference standings. There will be 4 games that don't count in the standings, that's not a hard one. There is no game we could schedule that would take the place of this.

Newsflash Sarg, JSU plays at Memorial for FREE, just in case you forgot.
As a JSU fan, I would say YES!! The environment is much more exciting and electric and more importantly, safe.
As an su fan, I would say HECK NO, regardless of the cheating, the bullet ducking, the destruction of visiting fans property and the gigantic traffic jams.
Like Journalist said, this game stands on it's own merit. Doesn't need to be turned into a classic.
Like we don;t have them here!!! :smash::smash::smash:
