SEC Wins Nat'l Title in Basketball Too

:lol::lol:

If Ohio State had not choked Saturday, their bball team could've done just like their football team and bent over for the SEC with the title at stake.
:scared:

That is the most choking school in D-1 I know. :emlaugh: At least old crazy arse Woody Hayes made me laugh until tears came from my eyes when he lost his mind on national TV and started attacking the other teams players and camera crew. :emlaugh: JR is right, NO ONE will ever forget Ohio State...

JR,
All kidding aside, I think Ohio State would've been a better challenge for Kentucky. Craft would've harrassed the hell outta Teague and disrupted Kentucky's offense. Folks are high on Sullinger, but I like Thomas' game better. Too bad they blew that game against Kansas.

I agree MH. Bill Self out coached Matta on Saturday. Craft plays great defense. Best defense I have seen from a white PG. LOL. Sullinger can't jump. He uses his big butt to shield smaller players out. Thomas is a better player that Sullinger. Jared better get an outside shot like Kevin Love has done if he wants to be effective in the NBA.

This Ohio State team was flawed all year with the inconsistent 3 point shooting. I was more pissed off last year when we didn't make it to the Final Four. Kentucky was just head and shoulders better than everyone this season. They are less talented than Cal's last Kentucky Final Four team with John Wall and company. But these kids play within themselves. I like their mental makeup.

"Dec. 29, 1978 - Woody Hayes made the worst mistake of his legendary career: The 65-year-old Ohio State coach slugged an opposing player." :emlaugh:

"In 1975, Hayes faced Joe Paterno for the first time. The Penn State coach greeted him with, "Woody, you look great." Hayes responded by saying, "Well, what did you think I would look like?" and walked away steaming mad, thinking Paterno meant to play mind games." :emlaugh:

"Bauman wasn't the first person Hayes swung at on the football field. At the 1973 Rose Bowl, he hit a Los Angeles Times photographer and at the 1977 Michigan game, he punched an ABC cameraman." :emlaugh:

"At times, Hayes refused pay raises because he believed they would interfere with winning; as a result, some of his assistants were paid more than he was. In 1978, his last season, Hayes' salary was $43,000." :emlaugh:

The man, who gave folks Jack Tatum and other NFL greats that hit your arse. Also Bobby Knight's mentor while at Ohio State. I have nothing but respect for Woody Hayes. Dude made sure his black players graduated and made commitments to their families that he would ensure it. Not to mention he gave FAMU Rudy Hubbard who won the 1-AA title as coach. Woody was a great man. Intense and over the top.......yes. But the stories from the old brothers who played for him are priceless. They adored old dude. My Dad was a big Woody Hayes fan.

Yeah ole Bob has some Woody Hayes in him. Probably why him, Bill Parcells and Tony LaRussa are best friends. All of them are intense. Bobby graduated his players too though. Can't argue with that.

Coach K is said to be pretty intense like that. Just behind closed doors though.

They don't have a lock on basketball frat. LOL. They only won this year and the last time was Florida and before that you had to go all the way back to Kentucky in 96. LOL.The other conferences are more dominant than them in basketball. If it wasn't for Kentucky and Florida they would suck. The Big 12, Big 10 , ACC and Big East are all better basketball conferences.

Couldn't you say the same for :

1)The Big Ten if you removed Ohio State and Michigan State? Indiana has just started their comeback.

2) The ACC if you removed Duke and North Carolina?

3) The Big 12 if you removed Kansas?

Uh Frat. LSU aint won isht in Men's basketball. LOL. The bottom line is the SEC sucks in Men's basketball. If it wasn't for Kentucky and Florida. They would have no titles in the last 20 years damn near. Women we know about what Tn has done. Nobody fears the SEC in basketball. LOL.

You are talking baseball. Not basketball.

Since the Big Ten is so much better, please list the Big Ten's basketball championships for the last 20 years?

Nah, I know baseball is a SEC, Pac 12 and somewhat Big 12 thing. ACC sometimes when Miami gets to rolling. The Midwest and East Coast schools don't care about baseball. Even in the Big 10, not all schools have baseball programs.

The SEC schools can't steal basketball coaches. The reason why is , they don't have storied programs outside of Kentucky. Florida has the money. But a coach isn't going to leave UNC, Duke, Kansas, UCLA, Indiana, Michigan State, Ohio State, Syracuse, UConn, etc to take a SEC job. If anything, a SEC coach will leave his school to go coach at one of those schools. Basketball is a different beast. With all those Academies like Oak Hill and others on the East Coast and Chicago plus NY/NJ being basketball meccas, it is hard to lure a kid to South to play on campus where FOOTBALL is king. Hell the Ohio State players were even saying that being in the Final Four still didn't overshadow the Urban Meyer hiring and his recruiting. LOL. I can't ever see Alabama or LSU ever putting up the kind of money for basketball as they do for Football. Plus those high profile basketball coaches do not want to share the spotlight with some football coach if they have been the big dog at their school. Could you imagine Calipari or Pitino coaching at a Football power house school?

I don't know, I am sure people said the same thing about Florida, and they bumped Billy Donovan up big time.

JRock did you even go to a SEC school. The Big 10 has one less title than the SEC. I don't consider that so much better. THe SEC is not the Big 10's daddy in basketball. Last SEC school Ohio State played this year was Florida in Florida and kicked their arse. You just need to say Kentucky is good. The rest of the SEC.....

Slight correction, Florida played Ohio State in Columbus this season and it was a closely contested game. We know Ohio State's track record against the SEC in championship situations. Even our women's bball team whipped your girls in your home state in the tournament. lol

Well we sure know a school from Bama ain't going to get no where near a Final Four. Can't be losing to Missouri Valley Conference schools in the tournament.

Didn't seem to hurt Kansas when they lost to Bradley a few years ago.

The man, who gave folks.....

Hey JR,

You have got to admit that is some funny shiat. Man that Woody Hayes made me laugh so hard a couple of times until my side started hurting. At the time that was some funny stuff.....I am sitting down looking at the game minding my business back in the day and hear comes Woody and I'm not believing what I am looking at. :emlaugh:

Confrontation with Jerry Markbreit:lol: :emlaugh:

Late in the 1971 rivalry game against Michigan in Ann Arbor, furious over what he thought was a missed defensive pass interference foul committed by Thom Darden of Michigan, Hayes stormed onto the field, launched a profanity-laced tirade at the referee, Jerry Markbreit, and tore up the sideline markers, receiving a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. A further enraged Hayes then proceeded to throw the penalty flag into the crowd, began destroying the yard markers and threw the first-down marker into the ground like a javelin before being restrained by Buckeyes team officials;

Purdue pushed Kansas to the brink this year and are always competitive. Iowa just recently fell off and Wisconsin stays ranked in the top 20 now under Bo Ryan. Then Michigan has gotten better. Illinois had a down year this year. But before they were good and Bill Self got the Kansas job because of his work at Illinois. Otherwise Illinois is normally ranked. The Big 10 is better than the SEC in basketball dude. Always have been. Kentucky holds the SEC up. Winning the championship doesn't mean the conference is better than everybody when only one or two teams are competitive outside of the conference. Football we know the SEC from top to bottom is tough. In the Big 10, basketball teams are tough. Even Northwestern and Minnesota were no easy wins. Tubby took that team to the NIT Finals.

The ACC has fallen off recently. Don't know what happened. After Chris Paul left Wake Forest and other schools lost players. Nobody has been able to win outside of Duke and NC. Maryland fell off too after winning the NC with Juan Dixon.

The Big 12 has always been underachievers. Kansas is the big dog. OU, Okie State and Texas always seem to flame out in tourney time. Baylor is rising now.

That's right. We have beaten Florida two years in a row. Thanks for reminding me.

I am not going to lie. I hated Woody Hayes. I thought he was a bully and still think he was a bully as a coach. With the exception when they played Alabama in the Sugar Bowl, I wanted the other team to win. (I just wanted a good game between 'Bama and Ohio State, but the score was 35-6.) When he got fired, I loved it. However, I grew to respect him after his coaching years.

BTW during the Bobby Knight years, my favorite team was whoever was playing Indiana.

Can you explain to me how someone "STOLE" our talent?
I'm yet to hear anyone explain how schools can steal talent that made the decision to go to these schools on their own. :noidea:

Easy-what is little Derrick whose father went to JSU is seeing before he even touches a basketball.

1) SEC on TV
2) SEC players/coaches/alum/programs at his schools
3) SEC players in the NBA/NFL/MLB
4)A black coach named Tubby Smith become one the few black coaches to win a title
5) Former SEC player Tayshaun Prince having a decent NBA career with a title
6) SEC teams featured in films and TV shows
7) SEC alum on tv and in the community
8) SEC assistant coaches getting jobs elsewhere

Now what is the SWAC showcasing during that time???

PV's football team and that 0-81 streak?
SWAC basketball's OOC records
Former SWAC coaches now administrative assistants at Houston?
Spivery basketball
MSVU's flop in front of Obama
2 SWAC school's academic issues
JSU's recent deaths involving football players

You lost that kid before the first game of his career.
