They currently have the basketball, football, and baseball championships. You can't help but respect it. They stole all our talent. All those kids use to be in the SWAC.

Florida won the Men's Indoor Track title, will definitely be favorite to win the Outdoor track title. Baseball has Florida, South Carolina, Arkansas, LSU, and Kentucky all in the top 10, Softball has Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia in the top 10, heck Florida is #2 in women's tennis and #11 in men's tennis and #1 in gymnastics. The SEC is just good in all sports.

True........That is why I look @ SEC football. It is pretty much what I grew up watching in the SWAC.

Yeah man, this man gets irrational when it comes to Florida. He is almost as bad as those Bama fans.

I don't think I was irrational at all, not my fault that Florida happens to be a powerhouse in all of the spring sports and is also a part of the SEC. lol

Kudos to Kentucky and the SEC.

No one stays on top forever, but the SEC has been on a nice run for the past decade.

Number1,
Man, you were hyping Florida bball team so hard. They were decent but come on son. Just messing with you man, I can tell you are a big Florida fan. Jsulegend97 went to UF for grad school also.

Just don't start acting like Deuce and crew.

+1. I agree wholly. Those sec squads, for the most part, are in the SWAC's footprint for recruiting territory. The 'SWAC' thought the years of segregation would continue to be fostered and didn't note that it had to change its recruiting philosophy in order to even be remotely competitive in terms of luring a young male/female of color onto its campii (plural campus lol).

It's very, very telling when a young man/woman of color deems it okay to have more in common w/ a HWCU, its over-populated anglo majority, and its overly anglo coaching staff vs an HBCU w/ kids who look/act/talk like them in majority and a majority coaching staff filled w/ people who look just like them. :read: (facilities aside)

What I'm in disbelief of is the larger populous of ppl of color who are ridiculously naive to this "game" that's being played. Most of us, if you've played sports in a traditionally white atmosphere @ ANY level, have seen this game being played and could've given Rhoden pointers on his book 25+ yrs ago. Newly post-integrated 70s is when the "change" started occurring (assimilation, not integration). :read:

stole???
yeah, all black kids used to go to all black colleges. But how many years, decades ago was that? Long before ANY of these kids were even born.

Sorry but I don't see any purpose in wallowing in some self-pity, they "stole" our athletes type of thinking. How will that help?

This is becomming a NCAA joke in all sports.

The way I see it, the only way the NCAA can stop the SEC from winning sports championships in any sport, EVERY TEAM in the conference will have to be on probation at the same time.

Guess what....................BASEBALL IS NEXT. They done won the last 3.
LSU in 2009 and South Carolina in 2010 and 2011.

They can't steal what we chose not to approach because Our self esteem tells us we are not good enough to go talk to these kids at least one time...with that said I will move around...future(temporary) SEC football lover!

Both. Just like how JR is a Jaguar and a Buckeye.

Yep.

As for this thread, Kentucky may be in the SEC. But them mofos border Ohio and most of their basketball players aint from the South.Hell all their stars are from up North or out West. LOL. Unlike SEC football where most of the players are from the South. I guess that is why the SEC basketball has to rely on Kentucky or maybe Florida to get them some basketball credence. As Get Ready would say about Anthony Davis. He is from up North and he is light skinned. He can't possibly be any good. LOL.

But seriously this was Cal's best group of kids MENTALLY. I think his last Final Four team had more talent. But these kids were not selfish and like playing with each other.

They don't have a lock on basketball frat. LOL. They only won this year and the last time was Florida and before that you had to go all the way back to Kentucky in 96. LOL. The other conferences are more dominant than them in basketball. If it wasn't for Kentucky and Florida they would suck. The Big 12, Big 10 , ACC and Big East are all better basketball conferences.

I will say this about Florida. They have the best sports program in the SEC. Top Notch and a damn good school. Now that is all the love I am going to give a SEC school. LOL. They are definitely the best overall program and outside of Vandy. They are probably the best school academically in the SEC.

Next year, Missouri will have something to say about that. Excellent school academically.

Football, Women's basketball and Track for sure. Don't know about Men's basketball. Kentucky's team had very few players from the South. Most of them are the bench players. Maybe some of the other schools, but they aint winning. Baseball, the MLB draft probably hurts us the most, since most of these schools still don't have a lot of blacks on the team. All the other sports have mostly white kids like gymnastics, swimming, volleyball, etc...

The issue now is, that as HBCUs, we sat on our collective arses and did nothing as times were changins. So now we paying for our laziness. These kids don't feel obligated to our schools. This trend has been happening long before the 2000s.What we got in the 80s and 90s were the last talent that would slip threw the cracks. Let's be real. Even some of those who went to HBCUs had of been recruited by National Powers and been on TV like it is now, they would have probably went to play there too. Technology and all these recruiting services and tactics have now made it easier for the bigger schools to not miss on players that we got back in the day. Mid Majors also have done us harm too. Not just the big schools. Instead of players going to a Butler or VCU, they may have been at a HBCU.

Yes Missouri is really good. Engineering program is nice. I talked to a young brother who ended up there from Chicago. Full ride.
