I'm yet to hear anyone explain how schools can steal talent that made the decision to go to these schools on their own. :noidea:

In basketball. I can knock them. LOL. They won this year. But it is Kentucky. Kentucky has always been a power except for that bad hire of the A&M coach. They would win even if they left the SEC. Unlike football where everyone in that conference is competitive and most of the players are home grown in the South like GR says. As you can see none of Kentucky's stars this year were from the South or typical SEC land. NJ, Indiana, Oregon and NY were the places their big names came from. In Men's basketball. You got 2 teams that have been good recently. The rest of the conference sucks.

Uh Frat. LSU aint won isht in Men's basketball. LOL. The bottom line is the SEC sucks in Men's basketball. If it wasn't for Kentucky and Florida. They would have no titles in the last 20 years damn near. Women we know about what Tn has done. Nobody fears the SEC in basketball. LOL.

I was talking baseball in relation to them fool may add another NCAA Championship in major sports this year. If they do, they will have football, basketball, and baseball.

Throw in Missouri in Basketball, with teams like Florida, Kentucky, and South Carolina reloading for next year, these mofo's are gonna be hard to dethrone for a while. :lecture:

Just pray these SEC necks don't start hording Basketball coaches like they do in other sports. If the SEC ever decide to get as serious about basketball as it do football and baseball, it will get UGLY. You know SEC schools ain't scared to OUTBID other schools for the services of a coach they target if they truely want them. :lol:

Uh Frat. The SEC aint going to make any more noise in basketball than they already do. Calipari and Donovan can get players to come play at Kentucky and Florida because they are East coast coaches with connections. Kids are not going to pass on North Carolina, Duke, Kansas, Ohio State, Michigan State, Syracuse and some others to run play in the SEC unless it is Kentucky or Florida. Missouri did well, but Kansas is the thorn in their side because of proximity. Louisville and Indiana are already being touted as the top 2 basketball teams for next year unless recruits change their mind. Again, the SEC in men's basketball is no threat to do what they are doing in Football. Hell, one could argue Missouri was in a better conference in the Big 12 for basketball. You know the one that Kansas just won. LOL. The best basketball players are not from the South traditionally. We have gotten much better. But the Midwest and the East coast live and breathe basketball.
 
Folks talking about how the BCS schools stealing players from the SWAC. Shoot, BCS coaches are raiding Illinois for all the best basketball players. The NCAA tournament was full of cats from Chicago, including Mr. Unibrow. LOL

Nah, I know baseball is a SEC, Pac 12 and somewhat Big 12 thing. ACC sometimes when Miami gets to rolling. The Midwest and East Coast schools don't care about baseball. Even in the Big 10, not all schools have baseball programs.

The SEC schools can't steal basketball coaches. The reason why is , they don't have storied programs outside of Kentucky. Florida has the money. But a coach isn't going to leave UNC, Duke, Kansas, UCLA, Indiana, Michigan State, Ohio State, Syracuse, UConn, etc to take a SEC job. If anything, a SEC coach will leave his school to go coach at one of those schools. Basketball is a different beast. With all those Academies like Oak Hill and others on the East Coast and Chicago plus NY/NJ being basketball meccas, it is hard to lure a kid to South to play on campus where FOOTBALL is king. Hell the Ohio State players were even saying that being in the Final Four still didn't overshadow the Urban Meyer hiring and his recruiting. LOL. I can't ever see Alabama or LSU ever putting up the kind of money for basketball as they do for Football. Plus those high profile basketball coaches do not want to share the spotlight with some football coach if they have been the big dog at their school. Could you imagine Calipari or Pitino coaching at a Football power house school?
 
When you have the TV deals, sponsorship deals, merchandise deals and folks willing to provide all sorts of resources, your conference is able be great in multiple sports.

Kendrick I have always said that if the SWAC wants to win in basketball they need to raid the Mid-west and North East.

It is funny you mention that because this year Norfolk State had eight players on its roster who were from New York.

These days money truely talks and bullshat walks.

No.......... A coach like Krzyzewski at Duke or a North Carolina Alum coaching at NC are not going to come. But these young to middle aged up and comming coaches are going where the best deal is. Once you get a KNOWN winner in place in a POWER CONFERENCE as far as athletics, the athletes will come.

The days of a coach staying 30 years at a school coaching basketball are dead and gone at this level. JUST LIKE IN FOOTBALL. There are just entirely too many $$$$$$$$$ and PERKs floating around for them not to look into new challenges. And with the attitude of these kids these days, location is not an issue anymore. The only issue is who the coach is and who that coach can convince to come play ball for him. East coast is east coast. But the days of teams like Duke, NC, St.Johns( back in the day), Syracuse dominating the NCAA scene is over. Look at the Pac 10 basketball scene today as compared to just 2 decades ago. THEY FINISHED............JUST LIKE THE OLD DUPAUL TEAMS OUT OF CHICAGO BACK IN THE DAY. THEY FINISHED.

These east coast and Northern teams will be in the mix every year but winning it is another thing all together these days now that kids are going everywhere.

Big East Conference 6 1984, 1985, 1999, 2003, 2004, 2011

(The SEC is all in everyone's ass...and Ohio State's last basketball championship was in 1960 :lol: :emlaugh: )

That's just it Frat. Those schools with the best basketball coaches HAVE MONEY. Bill Self aint leaving Kansas for Alabama. Tom Izzo aint going to leave Michigan State for LSU. That cat can be there for life and as long as Magic Johnson is alive, they will outbid any school to keep him. The NBA is the only landscape those coaches will go to. The SEC is just not attractive. You really think they will pay more for their basketball coach than they will Football? You do realize all the top NCAA basketball coaches make big arse money. Unless the SEC hires some of these coaches on the list below assistants to come in and take over. They will not be stealing anybody's coaches. Not the top ones. Maybe top assistants who want to be a head coach. Just like football players like to stay home in the South and play for the SEC teams. Those Midwest and East coast basketball kids want nothing to do with them necks down South unless you are coached by Calipari or Donovan. Don't think the SEC aint tried to get better coaches. Kentucky just lucked up on Calipari because of his NBA failure and then he wanted to be a bigger program than Memphis. Folks were leary of them after how Tubby got treated.



The only two attractive basketball destinations in the SEC is Kentucky and Florida.

Uh JRock, Ohio State has been to 3 Final Fours in the last 12 years. You can't knock the program. Some SEC schools outside of Kentucky and recently Florida haven't done isht EVER in basketball and never will. 3 titles in the last 15 years from the SEC in basketball is SOOOO dominant. LOL.
