Question regarding the Turkey Day Classic....

No, I'm not on an A&M vs State tip. If you had been from JSU or SU or whatever, I would have still made my same point. But you need to also know that folks coming from all over the country aren't the ones filling up A&M's stadium on YOUR homecoming either. Yall got 7,000 students, an on-campus stadium, and the game ISN'T ON A HOLIDAY. And our homecoming still draws twice what your's draws. This isn't to put down A&M's homecoming, but rather to show that the game being on Thanksgiving is a positive, not a negative. Having a four-day weekend during homecoming actually helps alumni who have to travel from long distances.

...if ain know any better, I swear you from Jackson State.

dont worry bout'it Deuce.

What???? When Yates and Wheatley fans, players, bandmembers got through playing on Thanksgiving they could go HOME and be with their families. Much different in college where most people are miles away from home. You cant compare the two situations.

sir its not a debate...you the one got on here callin it the "Oldie Classic" not me...You alway the first one yellin and screamin about something, i just believe some schools tradition will not change, know matter how hard people like you try to knock it!! carry on!!

Come on folks stop being so sensitive.

i mean foreal! why give a shat what folks think? i know i could give a damn what people say about my Homecoming or my CLASSIC because i'm there every year and know the deal. if you know folks who don't go, good for you, long as i'm in the building, ICGAF. but honestly, i don't see where folks are trying to be negative, i personally know folks who aint been to Turkey Day since they crossed the band. folks gone get mad cause thats truth? like Snake said, we aint suppose to say or comment on that? oh well.

but anyways, i've been to TDC a few times. my cousin and aunt are Skegee Alums and my cousin was in the band, so we went down one year while she marched, it was cold as hell.

in 97 i went down cause my ex was crossing the band. that year i did the parade also. after the game he was like, lets burn out. also went in 2000(i think), had some peeps down in the Gump and in the band so we went down to kick it with them. so never did the tailgate thing cause we were always trying to get back home to the remainder of the holiday. not a tradition for me, but its a cool ass game, i enjoyed it.

Y'all can rest assured that neither I, nor my fellow HORNETS give a rat's arse about opinions expressed about the TDC.

We truly understand that some folks just don't get it . . . and we're OK with that.

you still dont get it do you... yes we got 7,000 students... AAMU DONT COUNT STUDENTS IN ATTENDANCE (I have stated that plenty of times before) another thing we usually play someone WEAK for homecoming that bring ZERO fans (ie Texas SO).... lets please not act like 25,000 are all ASU fans.

.......

Nobody has said that the TDC is bad; its far from that...I love the tradition, but I feel that yall need a regular homecoming so that more students can participate as well as those alumni that would come back when its not a holiday.

That game is called the Magic City Classic. But truth be told, the Magic City Classic is basically the "Homecoming" (not literally) for ASU and A&M. I don't know anyone that misses the Magic City Classic and instead attends A&M or ASU's homecoming instead. If they do, they are actually locals (like myself).

Another thing that makes it so big is the fact that the game is basically a home game for ASU AND Tuskegee. I think it is Tuskegee's biggest game. Probably our 2nd biggest. Just my opinions though.

1st, ENJOY YOURSELF, man. Let us all know what you think about it.....

don't through us in the barrel with yall. we does our Homecoming  i know several people who have and will attend Homecoming over CLASSIC, some are from da crib, and some are not. but to each is own, i always do both.

MikeB, they dont need TP. They're going at themselves all alone & I think Dahill started it with the "Old Folks" Classic comment. It's all his fault.

:topic: Ya'll better handle business tomorrow.

It's gonna be tough... Alcorn has JSU's number. Even if they win, they have to worry about playing Grambling again...now that skezz's the hell outta the little boys in blue!

Have they expanded the stadium. The stadium I remember from the 80's probally could hold no more than 6k or 7k.

LOL thats a question you have to ask Shelt. There were some pics somewhere on the net I will see if I can find them... It looked as if people were all around in the grass.

I'm with you. I was like WHAT? But I looked it up on the TU site and it is true. This is the box score from that game.

However, their 2007 Football Media Guide (Page 18) states that the stadium only holds 10,000 folks. I guess there were 20,000 people without a seat in that piece! LOL!

they be all in the grass and hills..... the way their stadium is made you can tailgate inside the stadium. They dont need a seat, they be sittin in the grass.

Dahill,

You're absolutely right. Homecoming was packed this year. All the standing room areas were packed with tents, people in lawn chairs, and the works. I had a seat right on the hill, and went back and forth to my RV all during the game to grab food, libations, and works. That 30,000 number was not inflated!
