Piggy Backing Off Buckwheat's Thread....Children

I don't have any children, but whenever I get married and my wife gets pregnant, I honestly do not want to know what the child is. I would like to know if the child is going to be healthy but as far as the gender of the child I want it to be a surprise.

I think that science has defeated one of the greatest surprises on earth....

Well, I want to know in Advance so I can start buying the clothes and other items for the baby. I will be happy no matter whether the baby is a boy or girl. The main this that the baby is healthy.

It really doesn't matter anyway, sweets. The doctors are wrong a lot, too...buck, I would suggest that you NOT purchase a lot of clothes right now. Wait until your wife has her baby shower...you will receive a lot from others. Also, the sonogram could be wrong...purchase colors that are NOT gender specific; such as, greens and yellows.

Man don't spend 1 red cent on clothes for a new born. All that baby needs is some socks and them all in one suits for the first few months. Plus, W~ is right, let the women folk spend all the money at the baby shower. You will have so much schit you won't have to pay for anything for the first month or two.

W~ they are using 3D ultrasounds these days. They can damn near tell you the color of the babies eyes now.

I don't mind everyone else knowing...but just don't tell me...all I want to know in advance is if the child is healthy....I just think science has stolen a lot of things that were held sacred.

LOL @ cat daddy...you know what? I thought about that, after I typed my reply. I forgot the technology has changed so much, since I was pregnant.

yes, wait a while...your wife's in her 2nd trimester, right? If so, start purchasing a few items here and there, in the 3rd trimester. Also, make sure your wife's bag is packed by her 3rd trimester, as well. Babies have a mind of their own...they come when THEY want to and you both want to be prepared...cuz when those labor pains start to hit her, she will NOT be trying to pack no clothes, for the hospital. :D

This is true...but it's also kinda fun knowing. ;)

Mike wanted to know and I did not. She didn't tell me but told him...soon as we walked out, he told me. Element of surprise was gone.

Next time though we'll wait and see.

Yeah that's the way I was. Doc tol her and not me. I didn't want to know. She goes home tells my other son, 3 at the time and he comes up and tells me. I was  and :(. She laughed

But it gets better, the little knucklehead was breached a month before the due date and the Doc decided to just go ahead and do a C-section. So I walked out of the doc's office knowing the sex and the moment he was going to be born. All the surprises were gone. I was devastated.......

Then the little sucker had the nerve to have moved when they did the C-section. If I hadn't been so happy, I popped him on his butt instead of the doctor!

When my wife was pregnant, we both wanted to know, so the Doctor told us. But we decided to keep it a secret from the rest of our families (we were having the first grand-child on both sides). Keeping that secret was the HARDEST thing we ever did. Everybody kept guessing and we had to keep a straight face....

:dude:

I agree.

We pretty much didn't have to buy anything (as far as diapers/wipes, etc.) until months later after he was born. And as far as clothes, he's still wearing things that people have given us--- and he's almost 8 months old now.

Wait until after your baby shower(s) to determine what you need.
Get your pockets ready for baby formula (if she doesn't breastfeed or supplement)!!!

Responding to the thread topic: We wanted to know.... Well, I wanted confirmation--- I knew I was having a boy.

I will do that!

CriTAUcal! I didn't know baby formula was so dang expensive. My god-daughters parents spend like $25 a can for the baby formula. Why is that stuff so dang expensive?

 Yep, and my son was going through a can every 6 days before he started eating cereal/baby food. It's expensive because they know you gotta have it. Have your wife sign up at similac.com and enfamil.com so she can start getting those $5 coupons in the mail. They'll come in handy once she finds out what formula he will be on. I still get them after 5 months. Oh yeah, and they will send you samples of formula too. ;)

Thanks for the Info! I will make sure my wife signs up if she hasn't already.

When my wife was pregnant I wanted to know and she didnt. I had a feeling that she was going to have a boy so I wanted to know. Then she got mad that I didnt tell her or nobody. Then he was lactose intolerance and had to get that high arse milk. Damn, I am glad them days are over.

Encourage her to breast feed in the beginning. It will save on money and it is the most healthiest thing to do for the baby and mother.

Encourage, but don't insist. Let her do it if SHE wants too. The expectation to breastfeed is so high but it doesn't work for everybody. That can be a cause for much stress after giving birth.

Breastfeeding is wonderful, if the Mother can do it. I did it, for six months, but my baby was/is so greedy, that I had to supplement w/the bottle as well. He was eating cereal at 2 months. :shame:

LOL

Breast milk is free. Saved us a whole bunch of money. Even when I went back to work, I breastfed my baby by storing and saving milk. We also supplemented with store-bought milk...but I did it until she cut her first tooth! :wavey:

Yes, breastfeeding is a WONDERFUL experience. I'm currently still breastfeeding. It's great for the baby, helps build their little immune system, lowers the risk of ear infections, helps the mother get her figure back (or helps the uterus shrink back to it's normal size faster) and good bonding between baby and mother!

Like Warn, I'm starting to wean my baby off, 'cause that boy can eat and needs cereal now.

Yeah, it ain't no joke!
I mostly did nothing but breastfeed in Seth's first 3 months, and it saved a WHOLE LOT on spending money for formula.

We just bought a case (6 tall cans) of formula, and it was close to $200. :smh:
