Dude if your taking 30+ shots a game then yeah 44% is daymn good. MJ's supporting cast right now is about equal to MJ's in 91. The years Kobe played with Shaq the supporting cast was BETTER than anything MJ ever had in Chicago. The fact of the matter is that if Kobe doesn't score, the Lakers won't win.

You're one sad dude. At first you and GR were claiming that this Laker team was better than the Laker teams with Shaq now you're backpeddling..

I'm glad you caught that...

Dude, Jordan had games where he shot less than 45 percent. Jordan was a streak shooter, but as long as his teammates helped him keep the game close, they always had a chance. It's not like they won every finals game. They DID lose some of those games and the games they lost, Jordan didn't play well.

Some folks have short memories or selective memories.

You don't average over 30 plus points in the Finals for your career and not play well. Besides they never had to play 7 games in a Finals.....so obviously he played well enough to send his opponent home. Those few shots he passed off to Paxon and then Kerr later on..........were smart and calculated before it happened. In none of those games did those 2 have to have career games to help lift the Bulls to wins......they hit shots no different than Robert Horry has done his whole career in big games.......but it aint like Horry had to come to the rescue all the time for Olajuwon, Shaq or Duncan. Those guys still had good games. Same with Mike and his cast. Wasn't like he had 15 points and needed the supporting cast to pick him up for his bad game to win in the Finals.

Dude had the stomach flu or had some bad food that the Utah folks gave him. LOL. Still wrecked shop. Dude almost collapsed at the end of the game. Their will never be another MJ.......don't know why folks want to make someone out to be. Once they start banding around that better than MJ crap or like MJ stuff.......players seem to fail at the expectations. Watch the media turn on Kobe now............they will be talking LeBron up next.

They've been talking Lebron up since the start of the season.

As long as Kobe's around, he will continue to be compared to Jordan, no matter what folks say, plain and simple.

I do not get it. How could have Jackson been outcoached if his players missed the same open jumpers they were hitting in the first-half of Game 4? That is just poor execution on behalf of the players.

1996 27.3 pts 5.3 rebs 4.2 assts
1997 32.3 7.0 6.0
1998 33.5 4.0 2.3

Where was the 'struggle'?

Dude, I back up what I say.

In 1995-96 against the Sonics, Jordan shot 41 percent for the entire series. He was 51-123. He shot 31 percent from three point range, hitting 6 of 19 threes.

In '97 against the Jazz, he shot only 41 percent, hitting 70-164 shots. He shot 30 percent from three point range, hitting only 4-13.

The previous year, in '96, he shot 42 percent from the field in the finals against the Jazz.

Like I said earlier, I ain't gotta lie to kick it.

RobJay, the Sonics didnt make it to the Finals in 95-96.

Jordan had the stomach flu and for ONE game?! So what? Kobe has torn LIGAMENTS on his shooting hand and he's played with that for more than 60 games, four finals games, without complaining. LOL!!

Like phrat told me a couple of days ago...

"This is JayRob we're talking about..."

(Thanks Delock)

Thing is Jordan Scored 40 on John stockton and that other dude..LOL

No hate for MJ over here. Kobe will be listed as top ten in my opion when it 's all said and done. You guys who keep comparing them or their lack of comparisons act like Kobe's career has to mirror it exactly to be even compared. Thing is he is only 29. He can compete at this level 7 more years and can still will some titles so the book is out on him.

See tiger woods. He still reaching for Jack's records. 32 years old.

You have not seen the last of the kid. This is the start of some Epic Battles.
Kobe still top 10 in Forbes too...LOL

He will be remembered. Now Phil made me mad again but I want get into that.

What you have to remember is that Kobe even at 29 has 11 years of NBA wear and tear on the body. Most of the HS cats that come out start wearing down earlier because of it. I know he takes care of his body an all.....but he is an old 29. He has more mileage than say a cat who came into NBA at 22 or 23 after college only has 6-7 years on NBA beatings for 82 games and playoffs combined. I remember Moses Malone talking about getting old even before he was actually old. He always said he had extra wear and tear than the college cats because they were still playing amatuer ball when he was getting beat up by men in ABA/NBA. Garnett has to watch it too.......he got the same wear and tear as well with 13 years in. LeBron will go through the same thing. That's why I hate the MJ comparisons saying Kobe did this or that at an earlier age........LeBron is doing more at his age than folks as well. Since he walked into Cleveland having to be the lead dog on that team.

As far as Kobe getting back to the Finals. It aint no sure bet on that. His organization has to find him some tough minded guys to play with.......Phil will have to decide how long he wants to coach.......and you got all these young guns that are coming up. Soon they will be the hunters with some experience and when that happens it will be real interesting. All it takes for New Orleans is some veteran player with some experience to show up and help them understand what it takes to get over the hump.......not to mention San Antonio aint done either.....Pop will gut the team of those older guys on the bench. Only Duncan makes major money. Parker and Ginobli contracts are not overblown.....and Duncan actually took a contract revision to allow more money to had for free agents. Good organization.....no state income tax........SA will be able to reload. The window of opportunity is small in the NBA. Even when you have a young team. I remember Magic saying the Twolves would be back after losing to the Lakers........well you see how that went. Don't take much for management to screw the pooch.

So you think MJ hasn't played a season with something wrong with him or other players? Jordan had to ice his knees for years and refused microscopic surgery to clean up his knees. Kobe aint the first cat to play the whole year without complaining about an injury. Hell Ronnie Lott had his pinky finger cut off during a game and went back out and played football. Aint nothing new.

If I said that, find it and post it. Why you gotta lie dude?
Some folks just lie just to lie.

The bottom line is, when folks mention Jordan, they INTENTIONALLY leave out the fact that he had Pippen, Rodman, Grant, Paxson, Armstrong, Kerr and other VETERAN role players on his team to support him. Jordan always had a solid rebounder, another solid defender and at least one deadly outside shooter who was not afraid to take the shot in the clutch.

Kobe has none of that right now.

Like I said earlier, I ain't gotta lie to kick it.
But.... The TEAM shot 41.6% in '96, 43.2% in '97 and 43% in '98. Looks to me like BOTH teams in EACH series had shooting issues..... I guess DEFENSE won the game.

I do not get it. How could have Jackson been outcoached if his players missed the same open jumpers they were hitting in the first-half of Game 4? That is just poor execution on behalf of the players.

Simply because you play players in the SECOND half differently than you play them in the first half, based on their play and the other team's play, not in the first half, but in the 2nd half.

The Lakers needed DEFENSE in the second half, yet he refused to play Ariza in the 4th.

The Lakers needed point guard stability late in the fourth quarter, but he kept Farmar in the game over the veteran, Fisher.

The Lakers needed a timeout or two to settle down, but what did Phil do? He just sat, and sat and sat, without calling a timeout until the Lakers were down by five. THEN it finally dawned on him that Fisher wasn't in the game.:smh:

THIS is what I'm talking about. Doc outcoached the man, plain and simple.

People comparing jordan to kobe have lost it mentally. It is not fair to both players.

Jordan carried the Bulls to six NBA titles. Not only in the Finals, but in the playoffs as well. The series clinching shots against the cavs in 1990 and 1993. The game 7 wins against the Knicks and Pacers. Dismantling the Pistons and Heat in the Conference Finals. And the shot against the jazz of course.

The one thing in my mind that seperates jordan and kobe is the ability to do it when the world knows you are the guy that has to do it.

The whole world knew jordan was taking the last shot. They knew in order for the bulls to win jordan had to be the man. Kobe has not done that yet in the playoffs very much.

Not only did jordan do it at home but on the road.

No matter how bad it got he would not let the bulls lose. Even after the bulls lost to the pacers in game 6 in 1998, he told everyone we will win game 7.

And after that game he told the reporters that our bodies might be tired, but our hearts are not tired. I had confidence we would win.

That is the difference between jordan and kobe. Do you think that jordan would have let his team blow a 24 point lead at home in the finals?

Do you think that jordan would have let his role players try to hold on to the momentum? I kept waiting for kobe to take over last night. He never did.

Dude, Kobe was double and triple teamed last night. What was he supposed to do, shot over three men? Kobe passed the ball out several times to the open shooter and they missed. I guess that was his fault too.

Besides, who did Jordan pass to, to win some of those games? He passed to Pippen, Armstrong, Paxson and Kerr. All were established VETERANS, something Kobe doesn't have yet except maybe for Fisher, but guess where Phil had him? On the bench.

Even you are not telling the entire story. Jordan had a supporting cast light years ahead of Kobe. Dude, take the high road and admit that much.

And as far as Jordan winning conference finals, he lost a couple of years to the Celtics, then he lost three or four to the Pistons before he FINALLY made it. Folks love to leave out the meat of the debate and just talk about the results, as if Jordan did it all by himself with no help. Jordan had PLENTY of help, far more help than Kobe has now.

Bulls 90-91 roster that won their first title.....It sure looked dominate.

Pippen, Scottie 1987 - 2003 College - Central Arkansas (4th year player)
Williams, Scott 1990 - 2004 College - North Carolina (rookie)

Look at that Roster and tell me what was great about it. Grant and Pippen were just coming into their own as 4th year players. Pippen was not even an all star yet. LOL. Odom has the same talents as Pippen but don't use them.

Stacy King(never lived up to his hype), Hopson(overated coming out of college), Perdue, Scott Williams (got on team as FA pick because UNC ties to MJ)

John Paxon was solid at PG.......never an all star and probably never as good as Derrick Fisher has been. LOL

BJ Armstrong was up and down.......good when he wanted to be..........disappear other times

Cartwright.........old when he got to Chicago.......lol. Serviceable center.......not as good offensively as Gasol

Cliff Levingston........veteran bench player and had been a good role player in Detroit before hand

Horace Grant.........solid........not yet the Ho Grant who became an all-star

Craig Hodges.........great 3 point player.......never a starter type.

So that Bulls teams on paper at the time and this Lakers team on paper are not that much different except having a guy named MJ. Remember that was the first playoff run that Pippen didn't suddenly come down with a migraine against Detroit.

Lakers team they beat in 90-91 NBA Finals.

But hell that Lakers team would have given this Boston team a run for their money. MJ had to lead a team with ringless players including himself to beat a team with players with multiple rings and best PG in NBA history. All the Lakers bigs were nice..........AC,Perkins, Divac, Campbell, Worthy....all 6'8 and above.

The Lakers have offensive talent, but it shows that they don't have it against the Celtics defense. Kobe can only play one man at a time. Ariza is an excellent defender, but for some odd reason, Phil refused to let the man play in the fourth. Instead, he continued to let Walton play and Farmar play, while Boston continued to score and score and score.

Phil coached his worst finals game of alltime. He must be held accountable. Kobe was doubled and triple team most of the fourth and passed it to the open man, but they didn't come through. One man can only do so much.

Dude give it a rest.. every thing is the worse of ALL-TIME when KOBE LOSS!!!

GTFOOH!!!

You will say anything to make it seem like Kobe has NO fault...

Kobe scored 17 FREAKIN points in a MUST needed FINALS GAME!!!

Log off son.. you are done just like the Lakers...

Thanks JR, I sure as hell didn't wanna go through the trouble of posting all of that for po little Jayrob.

JR, how many times has Paxson, Kerr or Armstrong hit wide open clutch shots after Jordan passed it off to them? They did it time and time again. Plus they were VETERAN players during the finals. Kobe just doesn't have that luxury right now. But in the last three finals, Jordan clearly struggled, but his teammates bailed him out by hitting clutch game winning shots.

Like I said, the Lakers are young and they're really a year ahead of schedule, but once they get Bynum back, and tweak a couple in things in the lineup, they'll be hell to deal with for sure.

GAWD DAYUM WILL SOMEONE SUSPEND THIS CLOWNS ACCOUNT!!!

Nice numbers JR. But Worthy, Scott, AC Green and even Magic were in the downward part of their careers.

Chicago had what the Lakers don't currently have, and that's veteran leadership on the bench. They also had players who could play defense and rebound, like Levingston, Cartright, Grant, Pippen, Armstrong. Even Stacey King could rebound and play defense.

LOL, I forgot about spot up shooter, Craig Hodges. He hit some clutch shots too.:emlaugh:

What family doesn't argue every now and then? Stuff happens. Doc did a good by playing "small ball" when even the Celtic fans were criticizing him. It paid off for him. Posey showed up "on the road" and House made a clutch basket or two.

I don't like it that the Lakers are losing to the Celtics, but I also can't hate as much when a "brutha" is coaching the winning team.

Doc is taking Phil to the cleaners.:smh:

Man shut up.. Doc ain't taking Phil to the cleaners.. After LA was down 0-2.. Phil made GREAT adjustments... Adjustments that made LA look a bit better than Boston when we all know LA ain't better than Boston.. Quit with the excuses and leave basketball to us.. you don't know nothing about it.

Kobe is getting took to the cleaners..
