JR... Bama won 4 NCAA national championships in 2012, so your statement would be incorrect.
I see they also won golf, gymnastics and softball national championships. Their best year to go along with the national title in football. They are a great at Gymnastics. Always have been. But 2012 is not the norm for them. That was outstanding in achieving that no doubt, but you do not think Alabama when it comes to complete sports programs. Only football. That's all SOG is saying.
But like yall say on here. The sports that count, they ain't that good except for Football. Which nobody can't deny.
When you compare them to Stanford and their overall titles in sports. It is not close. Stanford competes with Florida and some other schools every year in having the best overall athletic program in the country when you add in all those non revenue making sports.
I keep telling folks the SEC coaches play Big 10 ball just with better athletes in the trenches and folks complain on here that Big Ten is unwatchable. I am like them low scoring games and bad offenses in the SEC are a mirror to the same bad offenses in the Big 10. None of them want to open the offenses up. Except Sumlin and before Petrino got fired. The rest of those Head coaches like the grind it out ball. Even the old ball coach Spurrier done forgot how to throw the ball. Well maybe if he would recruit a black kid to play QB who can run and throw he would have a more consistent offense.
I will give Saban some credit this year. He opened his offense up some and I think he trusts this QB more than ones he has had in the past. Plus he got some play makers. Bama offense was better than most of the SEC teams. Definitely more consistent.
Last I checked, Stanford finished the season 12-2. And considering that the athletics program has the second most national championships in history proves that they have a plan that goes beyond football. But proper planning is what smart people do. Athletics is more than football (outside of the South).
Damn, I didn't know a simple comment regarding the student athletes at Stanford would create such blow back. Damn, y'all really love y'all some BAMA/SEC huh?
JR, you guys dream up stuff and talk like it is true. LSU has had some potent offenses under both Saban and Miles. Further, LSU has always had a potent running game way before those boys came to the bayou. The Big 10 don't have jack to do with that tradition so cut the chit out. Terri Robiski, Charlie Alexander, Dalton Hilliard, James (can't recall his first name), Kevin Faulk and a bunch more that pre-dated Nick Saban and Les Miles. Do I need to mention Bo Jackson, Hershall Walker, Eric Rhett and Emmitt Smith (Cut that Big 10 farce out). That is for wide open offenses under Saban and Miles, Matt Mauck, Matt Flinn, Demarcus Russell (1st pick in the NFL draft didn't get that by handing the ball off or running), Marcus Randall and Ryan Perriloux could sling it and won SEC Championship Game MVP and then latter transferred to Jacksonville State because of his transgressions. Anywho, It seems like LSU QB(s) have not been up to snuff since old by got in trouble. Though I must admit that Jarrett Lee had the offense wide open before Jefferson returned from his trouble last year. I want even talk about Heisman trophy winners Cam Newton's and Tim Tebow's wide open offenses. You guys are really confused at best and at worst simply don't keep up with these games and attempt to have a conversation about it. :emlaugh:

JR you starting to sound like TP... Just say you were wrong and leave it like that .....
You did a good job on hoodwinking the less informed but really you should be ashamed of this gross diversion. :smh:  :emlaugh: "SMART" hasn't done a thing for Stanford in football and that is what we're talking about. Stanford has one Football National Championship which happened in 1926. Weren't the helmets leather and did they even have face masks then? :emlaugh:
APR Rank by Conference:Nobody is saying that being smarter will help a team win games. We are just saying that the SEC got a conference full of dumb athletes. I can't even watch the post game interviews in the SEC.
Dude, anybody watching Florida all season has seen how horrible the offense has been even against Bowling Green, UL-Lafayette, Missouri, and Jacksonville State Florida struggled to move the ball and score. We just had superior special teams and defense play all season to win those games. All it took was for the defense to have an off game and Florida would be doomed. The team was expected to win 8 games at the most this season, so I will take 11 wins and a win over LSU and Florida State anytime.

You guys talk like the SEC has a monopoly on that  :emlaugh:
SEC Sucks!!
At some point you're going to post something of substance and back it up with facts. I not optimistic that it will come before Armageddon though. :emlaugh:
Dude we are talking now. Not in 1990s when Spurrier coached. LSU ain't never had a wide open offense. They have had talented folks at the WR and RB spot. But Les ain't no big offensive type Head Coach. That's why all his OCs quit and leave. LOL.
As for Auburn. They were a one year flash in the pan under Gus Malzhan as the OC.
Urban Meyer ain't coaching in the SEC any more. And Mark Richt is not wide open either. He throws the ball more than the others. But to say his offenses at Ga resemble anything close to what he was doing as the OC at Florida State is crazy. Even with Stafford they ran the ball a lot.
Les Miles and wide open offense is an oxymoron. LSU fans would curse you out for saying he has had big time offenses. Urban Meyer was the only one who consistently had offenses that rack up big yards on a yearly basis. Spurrier did too before he left. Now he is 5 yards and cloud of dust too. LOL.
Since you went way back, the only other coach who would open up his offense got fired in Philip Fulmer. He had probably had some of the better balanced offenses in the SEC before things went South for him. David Cutcliffe kept that offense rolling.
Big Ten baby!! Now tell them SEC cats to catch up in the classroom and learn how to speak and stop sounding like them dumb necks they go to school with. No wonder Les can pimp the isht out of LSU folks. Saban probably be laughing at them clowns too when they come to get an autograph from him. Probably just shakes his head. LOL.
You are the one spewing the noise about Big 10 ball being played in the SEC. I just simply showed you, that you don't know what you're talking about. You are not sounding like you are on top of your game again when talking about wide open offense. There were two fellows that was with the Dalton/James gang at LSU. A fellow by the name of Eric Martin (N.O. Saints) and Wendell Davis (Chicago Bears). I am not going to waste my key strokes telling you about other teams. JR get some rest dude you're starting to post like TP. :emlaugh:
You said Bama was good in one sport.... How can only be good in one sport when you just won 4 national championships in the last year?Wrong about what? Is Bama known to be a great Sports program historically versus Stanford? I will be waiting. Maybe to you guys in Alabama.
Florida has the best athletic program in the SEC period.
Ask yourself this. Is Alabama basketball women and men better than Stanford? What about Volleyball? What about swimming? I don't even think Bama track and field is on Stanford's level. Florida, LSU and Arkansas are the dominate SEC track programs.
Just leave it as Roll Tide for Bama Football. They won a few other sports last year for the first time outside of Gymnastics. They ain't a perennial top 5 athletic program like Stanford or Florida.

Weak stuff JR. :emlaugh:

The record is clear. In head-to-head match-ups against other major conferences, the SEC has either a combined losing record or one that's generally only a little better than even.
SEC vs. PAC-12 regular season: 10-12

SEC vs. PAC-12 bowl games: 1-0

SEC vs. Big 12 regular season: 6-10

SEC vs. Big 12 bowl games: 21-8

SEC vs. ACC regular season: 42-36

SEC vs. ACC bowl games: 16-9

SEC vs. Big 10 regular season: 7-4

SEC vs. Big 10 bowl games: 19-19

SEC vs. Big East regular season: 16-15

SEC vs. Big East bowl game: 3-8
