Must be a down year in the SEC

This year, SEC defenses are overated. The only reason why the defenses seem "loaded" is because most of the SEC offenses pretty much suck. Its not hard to pad your stats with bad offenses and FCS schools. Clemson dragged the LSU Defense all over the field worse than what Louisville did to Florida.

not true, SEC defenses are "loaded" because they have 4 and 5 star athletes getting drafted year after year.

LOL.. they said the same thing to Clemson about LSU and to Louisville about Florida.

I am actually pulling for TA&M but I wanna see BAMA get embarrassed. Seriously!

Lol @ TP. I am rooting for A&M because of Sumlin. I always like Notre Dame even as kid. The old man was a ND fan. But liked Bear Bryant as well. Bama and UGA might be the only SEC schools I ever rooted for in a big game. I want the game to be competitive. But I hope the school with the high graduation rate wins. Not to mention my SU KKPSI frat bruh and also your Nupe bruh son plays for ND.

Maybe the SEC is just WAY WAY WAY over-rated.

TP, believe it or not, I kinda think it is overrated this year. And yes, that may very well include Alabama. Now, as far as the last six or seven years, the SEC was not overrated - but this year, maybe.

But I don't think that Bama is nearly as overrated as Florida was.

For anyone claiming the SEC is overrated, the conference had the best winning percentage against non-conference ranked teams. South Carolina went to Clemson and won. Georgia beat Ga Tech. Florida went to Florida State and won. There's a reason the conference is ranked number one.

For some teams, if they're not playing for a conference title or national title, the game's probably not that important.
Even with that said, if your conference has won the national title six straight years, even if it's not the strongest conference from top to bottom, perception is sometimes more convincing than reality.

I keep telling folks the SEC coaches play Big 10 ball just with better athletes in the trenches and folks complain on here that Big Ten is unwatchable. I am like them low scoring games and bad offenses in the SEC are a mirror to the same bad offenses in the Big 10. None of them want to open the offenses up. Except Sumlin and before Petrino got fired. The rest of those Head coaches like the grind it out ball. Even the old ball coach Spurrier done forgot how to throw the ball. Well maybe if he would recruit a black kid to play QB who can run and throw he would have a more consistent offense.

I will give Saban some credit this year. He opened his offense up some and I think he trusts this QB more than ones he has had in the past. Plus he got some play makers. Bama offense was better than most of the SEC teams. Definitely more consistent.

Then you seem to have no choice in who you want to win! LOL I only go for Ohio State becasue of Bradley Roby. His fam is from MS and he used to ride with me all the time back and forth from GA to MS when he was young buck. As for Notre Dame, they have had two QBs with ties to Union Church.. yep.. lil ole UC  You may not remember them but Carlyle Holiday is my cousin on my Mom's side and Jarious Jackson is my cousin on my dad's side. So of course, I have been rooting for them for a minute.

I don't think Bama was overated. They are damn good. Well coached. Just as not as dominate as the team last year. Although I think the offense is better this year or more versatile than last season. Their defense is young and don't have the same playmakers like they did on last year's team. But when you look at all of college football. I think this year overall was a little over rated. Not just the SEC. This year was one of those years that truly anybody could be beaten on any given Saturday. Next year, Bama is going to be a beast. That's why I think this is the best year anyone has of beating them in a big game. Unless Saban leaves for the NFL. They will run the table next season in the SEC I believe.

Sorry SOG, that doesn't work this way. I have no love for the SEC. My point is all schools got dummies on the team. All schools get in who they want in to run that ball. Yes, that includes the Ivy's.
Last I checked, Stanford finished the season 12-2. And considering that the athletics program has the second most national championships in history proves that they have a plan that goes beyond football. But proper planning is what smart people do. Athletics is more than football (outside of the South).

Damn, I didn't know a simple comment regarding the student athletes at Stanford would create such blow back. Damn, y'all really love y'all some BAMA/SEC huh?

Well take on it is that Alabama and LSU are not as strong this year as last year so that helped 3-4 more SEC teams look stronger. I said last year that the ONLY teams in the SEC that were head and shoulders above the rest were LSU and BAMA.. the rest were all beatable teams.

Yeah Roby is a beast. He can flat ball. Urban is thinking about letting him play offense and defense next year. I remember Holiday. Definitely remember Jarious Jackson. His Dad went to JSU if I am not mistaken. We might be kin after all. LOL.

Well, the Ivy's don't issue athletic schollys and Stanford isn't an Ivy League school. But will not find ANY "dummies" on the team. But you have already admitted they exist on Bama's team.

They don't issue schollies, but they do let who they want in to play sports. I know some who went to them from Atlanta, that I know good and well wouldn't make it in open enrollments. Okay if you wanna make your self feel better. I guess they don't pay players like others do either huh? We all know them Calli boys ain't good in sports. They cheat too. An yes Bama has some of the biggest dummies in sports. Have you heard them guys speak? "I say Leon. Huh? Leon. Huh?"

Stanford ain't just letting anyone in. You have to be admitted first before a coach can give you a scholarship. A kid at U of Houston was all set to go to Stanford with his 4.0 GPA and didn't get accepted. Coach had to pull the scholarship offer a few days before signing day.

And Bama has how many more national championships than Stanford????

Nobody is saying that being smarter will help a team win games. We are just saying that the SEC got a conference full of dumb athletes. I can't even watch the post game interviews in the SEC.

What does that do for any of those kids in the real world? More than half of them titles are not even with black players at Bama.
Stanford does have a great athletic program overall. Better than Bama. Right now Alabama can only win at football.

I am just being Devil's Advocate. You can't knock Stanford. They ain't in it to win it at all costs.

Even if you are a white boy, it is more prestigious for them to have gone to Stanford than Bama as far as they are concerned. LOL. Those NCs pale in comparison to what them Stanford grads are doing out there. Just saying.

Damn Pops. You got to be that cruel. LOL. Some of those kids are pretty sharp though. You can't knock every SEC athlete. But I get what you are saying. It is a reason why more of the other conference former athletes are on TV. Outside of David Pollock, Jesse Palmer, and Lomas Brown. Not too many former SEC players get on TV just because of that. You already heard what ole GR thinks of Lomas Brown. LOL.

It did look like most of the upper deck was empty. I might just do down to the Fiesta bowl and get a ticket for sub face value because that bowl game is reporting at %70 ticket sales. Playoffs cant get here fast enough!

JR... Bama won 4 NCAA national championships in 2012, so your statement would be incorrect.
