Metro Atlanta population hit 5.45 million in 2012

Charlotte is the biggest country city of all. Yall are still small town trying to grow.
I live here in Charlotte and there have been a lot of people from the Atlanta metro to migrate up I-85 in the last few years because of the economy. Charlotte is one of the fastest growing cities and I hope our leaders are paying attention to Atlanta on what NOT to do in regards to rapid growth. Atlanta always gives me a "big country city" vibe.

I hope the people that keep bigging up Charlotte realize that they're going to be the next Atlanta. And when I say that I mean when the city's economy is booming everyone and their parents flock there looking for jobs. The only difference is Charlotte doesn't have the infrastructure to maintain it like Atlanta did and they'll see a bottom at some point just like Atlanta. Eventually that flood of people will dry up those jobs, that influx won't last forever. Pretty much the same exact thing that happened here in the 2000's. Now you have a ton of people here from everywhere else and struggling to find work. Enjoy it, it won't last forever. Same will be said for Dallas at some point.

I thought MEMPHIS was going to be the next ATL when all those big corporations started basing their hubs up there in the 1990's but it fizzled out. They just started trying to "kick start" their growth again.

As for Atlanta Metro...........5.4 million in that "little" azz space.
Sardines in a can .................

I see a lot of Georgia tags from the Atlanta Metro in the DC/MD area. I don't know if a lot of people from Atlanta are moving to this area or not. I'm sure there are a lot of people from DC/MD and Va that are moving to Atlanta also. That's just how things usually pan out. People move to areas that provide new opportunities for them and their families.

The southern cycle is this Sippi folks head to Chi-town. Bama/Arkansas folks head towards Michigan. Ga/NC/SC folks head toward DC/NYC area. Louisiana/Texas folks typically head toward California. TN/Kentucky folks toward Ohio. Has been that way for years.

Actually their is a huge amount of space and woods for days with animals constantly being run out of their natural habitat from new construction. Atlanta's problem though is the roads. Atlanta needs a beltway now. It has been discussed but I haven't seen or heard any definitive plans for implementation.

I see Black folks are still staying away from Forsyth County, which is steady growing at an estimated 2012 population of 187,928.

The racial makeup of the county was 95.05% White, 0.70% Black, 0.25% Native American, 0.80% Asian, 2.01% Pacific Islander, 2.27% from other races, and 0.93% from two or more races. 2.57% of the population were Hispanic of any race. 21.7% were of American, 14.1% English, 13.0% Irish, and 11.8% German ancestry.

Ain't that the county just before you get to ATL traveling EAST that was in the news years ago about how openly bigoted they was? If so, why would ANY non-white movfe to that place. Guess the stats prove that county is nothing but dog Doo-doo to minorities. :smh:

Lot of people, lot of cars, but no real road system to handle it all once you get off the Interstates huh.

If so, on a MUCH smaller scale, The City of Madison(MS), just outside of Jackson is the same way. All them rich mofo's moved to that city and they started building these huge housing surburbs all around that place. Problem is once you get in or out, it is hard to get back because there are only about 7 main roads that take you to all the neighborhood streets. They just started getting that solved with more highways, widening streets and adding streets.

As for transpoortation, Atlanta, just like madison, was built in reverse. First the people came in droves and then they decided to find a way for people to move around in their cars.

The problem with Atlanta is public transportation. You can not get the folks who move there from small towns to understand the purpose of it. They grow up in small towns where folks drive every where and think it should be the same way in a major city. That is not reality. Transportation moves the city and eases congestion of traffic.

Marta also need to become more accessible to suburbanites. There are 100 of thousands commuters that don't have access to Marta and when they get in the vicinity will not park and ride. However, suburbanites have been fighting to keep Marta out because they feel like it is the catalyst for accessibility to "undesirables" (code word) that will result in crime.

We dont need another beltway...all that does is the same thing 285 did which is push people further out into the burbs. Those same people like now, will be the same ones congesting the highways commuting into the city everyday for work. When it's not between 6-9 am and 4-7 pm during the week you can go anywhere in Atlanta on the roads without traffic. The problem is all of those same surburbs that come in and clog up the city not wanting the city to be able to place public transportation in those areas. Had Gwinnett and Cobb never blocked Marta the traffic issues wouldn't be anywhere near as bad as they are now...especially considering that's where the majority of people coming into the city during the day are coming from. 75 south into town, 85 south into town, and 285 between 85, 75 and the perimeter are a total nightmare during rush hour. There's actually even already a tunnel going nw out of downtown towards Cobb where they were going to extend heavy rail to Cobb before they blocked it. Heavy rail from downtown to Kennesaw, from Cumberland to Perimeter, extending from Roswell up to Alpharetta, from downtown to South Gwinnett and extending from Decatur to Lithonia would change the whole traffic makeup of Atlanta.

It was the fastest growing county in the last decade. I bet Oprah hasn't been seen there anymore. And one of Atlanta main natural resources is located in that county, which is Lake Lanier, Atlanta main water supply. I hope them White folks there don't do anything to Atlanta's potable/drinking water supply.

Part of the Beltway/Belt line project that I looked at a year or so ago had some of these these things in bold included among other things. I will agree to disagree with you on not needing this. I do agree with you that it is much more palatable to travel in non rush hour traffic though if nothing is going wrong like a traffic accident, whether etc.

I see you are gayly happy.

I think I told you once before that I don't do "gay" talk with men or boys. I'm a grown man that don't have time for that kind of stupidity. What kind of mess is that to tell a grown ass man?

I believe you are little confused on what I meant by "gayly happy". My meaning of gayly happy is the same as saying happily happy or joyously happy in referenced to your laugh out loud icons, which has nothing to do with gay men. I hope a grown ass man like yourself is not paranoid or unsure of yourself, because nor do I do the gay crap as you put it.

As a rule of thumb, don't talk to me any different than you would your father. Your emphasis and history of gay references make me feel very uneasy.

I don't give two. If you don't have punk talk with him, don't have it with me. All I'm saying is stay out of that territory with me if you plan on dialoguing.

Dude, you grew up in the Catholic Church with who knows whatever type of priests lecturing to you and you tell me that you feel uneasy about the way I talk. First thing, I'm definitely not gay and would never try to influence you or anyone else of such lifestyle, but if I offended you by jokily teasing you of the known fact that Atlanta is the nation’s No. 1 gay city for Black men, I apologize. If you really feel the way you do, you should be more uneasy with folks you encounter in Atlanta. I'll never type the gay word again with you.

Charlotte is the biggest country city of all. Yall are still small town trying to grow.

Charlotte is the 2nd largest banking center in the US, next to New York, and is a corporate headquarters. For the past decade, banking ruled the city but now a lot of engineering and technology firms are moving here. What makes Charlotte "country"? In regards to the economy, Charlotte was the poster child during the recession for cities that weathered the storm.

From what I have seen, the city has been making proper steps for the expected growth. The infrastructure is there and the state continues to pump money into the metro area, including Raleigh-Durham, for new highways and development. I just don't want our traffic to resemble Atlanta's. Harris Blvd and I-85 are horrible during rush hour.

Dude NC is country just like Ga is. We all country southerners, Charlotte is now developing. You were all woods 10 years ago. That does not all of a sudden make you a big city now.
