Maybe We Need More White OL Coaches

Jay, we only lost by 12 but we all know it wasn't even that close.

I was at the game, so I know how close it should've been and how many opportunities our defense had to make interceptions for runback touchdowns and dropped the ball, thank you.
delta state won, but we didn't get blown away.

You're sayin that teams like delta state, nichols state, stephen f austin, mcneese state, etc are better OL recruiters than SWAC schools?

The SWAC has always been able to recruit skill players because they are easier to find. I am saying that offensive linemen are harder to find and when you miss out out on a segment of recruits it makes it even harder, so you have to work with what you have and that's often less talented guys and projects. The SWAC teams that played well yesterday like Alabama A&M, Alabama State, and Southern don't have a ton of talented linemen either, but their coaches did an excellent job of using what they have and won. We did a poor job of preparing and adjusting. We don't need red, green, yellow or white coaches. We need good coaches and right now Comegy and his staff need to do a better job of adjusting to our weakness because good coaches will attack weaknesses.

:uhoh: Uhh, speak for yourselves.

Here's to kendrick for taking words completely out of context and putting his own spin on them, as usual. Reading and comprehension instructor, send help.

kendrick, with your sidin with everything white, I thought you'd be the LAST person to complain about anything favorin' whiteboys.
Seems like you're more confused now than ever.

Man, you are slow. I really don't care who JSU has on the offensive line as long as those beefy fellows can keep our QBs from getting killed.

But to be serious, Jay and Richardson do suck. I 've heard spelling bees called better than the product Mr. Sports Journal and the Ron Santo-like analysis Richardson provides each Saturday.

This is not the first year that JSUs offensive line has been suspect. It has been an on-going problem for years. I think it goes back to the recruiters on this one.

It.......wasn't........that.......close. And you can blame OC Woody for that.

Typical!

Just 'cause y'all got your azzez beat, now you wanna throw off on everybody else.

I'm sure that we can expect that 'ol familiar favorite entitled "It's a down year," to be played next.

 :smh:

Teams need better coaching and players on the offensive line. Also, it takes a certain amount of meanness to play the position.

Geez. Did you even read my post? You and your gang take every post by a Jackson State poster as a personal attack. If you bothered to read my post I said AJ and his staff does a good job working with the talent they have and we, JSU, have to do the same. I am glad Alabama A&M beat Tennessee State yesterday and if the SWAC continues to win its non-conference matchups like yesterday and you guys win the SWAC, it will certainly not be a down year for the conference. Right click and save that. But let's not pretend we get cream-of-the-crop offensive linemen because if we did then they would get drafted and I can't even remember the last OL selected in the NFL.

As for Jackson State's loss, it certainly isn't the end of the world so all of these threads are overkill. We are just not use to dropping home openers but it happens sometimes. The problems can be corrected. This same line help us score 30 points a game last season.

No smack on bruthus, but maybe some teams in the SWAC need to hire more "whiteboys" to coach our offensive linemen the proper techniques, footwork and schemes for blocking, and also to recruit big husky whiteboys to protect the qb. They seem to be much better at that.

Look at what happens when SWAC teams play quality non-conference schools like mcneese state, south dakota, northern iowa, etc.
Their offensive line almost always outplays ours. Also look at who the offensive line coaches mostly are in the NFL. They're whiteboys. They seem to excel at that.
Slave mentality at its best......:shame:

UAPB had a White OL coach during Hardman's last years at the school.:D One player was even drafted by the San Diego Chargers. Roger Totten was the Oline coach when we beat Southern on BET in 2000.

But hey I understand what Jay Rob and Mr. Tiger are saying though. Black colleges are not known for producing pro offensive lineman. The OL at the HBCU's are over weight and slow. I have done assignments for Street&Smith shooting major colleges like Arkansas,UNLV,Cinncinatti,South Carolina etc. Their offensive lineman look like defensive ends. I remember when Arkansas played Troy State a few years back and Troy State had about 2 or three brothas on the OLine. They were not fat, slow or knot-Kneeded.

You recruit body types and then develop from there....but you got to know what your doing once you get them...the Texans have always had good-looking linemen but they sucked and that's the pro level

The vast majority of HBCU coaches only pay attention to size. Stop just recruiting size, and start getting folks who actually CAN play. Coach and condition them up right, then I garuantee you won't have this problem anymore.

And man up and post WHY the post is a slave mentality. You ain't getting off the hook that easily. Post why it's a slave mentality.

What if I created a thread saying that we need more white QB's, or more white Head Coaches? That would sound pretty stupid right?

No, it wouldn't be stupid. It would simply be YOUR opinion.
By the way, when we did have a white offensive coordinator, JSU not only had the BEST offense in the SWAC, but lead the entire NATION.
That's not saying that white coaches are better at all, but I'm saying that they seem to have the market on being chosen as offensive line coaches in both college and the NFL. This in NO WAY means that black coaches can't do the same, but it seems that most black coaches may not be interested in becoming an offensive line coach on a d-1 or NFL level.
Most (not all) black coaches seem to gravitate toward coaching defense or the skill positions.

Right it would be my opinion but it would be a stupid one. Race does not determine your ability to effectively do a job. Don't you think you're generalizing? They are more white coaches PERIOD and that's because of people with your mentality. You act as though white people have OL coaching genes or something.

Did I say that? No, I didn't. The reason most OL coaches are white is because that's the position MOST of them play, so it's obvious that's why there are MORE white OL coaches. It's perhaps not because they are white, but it's a matter that they just happen to be white.

Look at most major football teams in college or the NFL and you'll see that a large percentage of OL players are white, even on teams with a black head coach.

Exactly. That was my point. Now, I believe some SWAC schools do a better job working with the offensive linemen they get. They run plays that suit their talent and speed.

Boy sounds like you love you some white folks. Who inbedded that mentality in you? Kind of sad dude!! Maybe the players are like you and respond better wo white people. Because if you played for a whit coach, sounds like you would run through a brick wall, and through hell with gasoline drawers for him........ Please don't teach your kids to think with that white man's ice is the coldest ice mentality.... So, an Ole Miss education is better than a J-State education, LSU/su and Grambling, UT/PV, Auburn/Tuskegee, UGA/Morehouse and Clark Atlanta, etc...? Wow, and it 2007!!

Lawd.........Delta State got the boy calling for help from Charlie D. Whitman. :emlaugh: That is an azz whoopin for you! :emlaugh:
