Hats off to the Callaway Girls team though. The Lady Chargers are ranked #10 Nationally and should move up pretty soon.

While it's certainly not as exhilarating as winning a Class 4A state championship, Lanier gained a measure of revenge Monday night against an opponent that broke its heart last March.
In a showdown of Mississippi's top two teams, Dandy Dozen junior guard Monta Ellis scored 24 points as the No. 2 Bulldogs beat No. 1 Provine 60-56 for the 23rd annual Jackson Public Schools/Pepsi Holiday Tournament championship at Jackson State before an estimated 6,500.
Lanier, winning its second straight JPS/Pepsi title and fifth overall, improved to 10-2 and remained unbeaten in Mississippi. Bulldogs coach Thomas Billups' team will start the new year atop The Clarion-Ledger MHSAA boys basketball poll when the new rankings are released Jan. 6.
Provine, which edged Lanier 64-62 in last year's 4A final, dropped to 13-3.
The thing is, these two Division 3-4A powerhouses could meet as many as six times this season as they both chase that elusive gold ball. Monday night was merely Round 1. They also go head-to-head on Jan. 20 and Feb. 10.
"It feels good to win this tournament. It's good to win every ballgame, but we're mostly concerned with getting ready for the state tournament," said Billups, who is shooting for his sixth state title with the Bulldogs. "We haven't played a complete game yet."
Ellis, the tournament MVP, tallied 12 fourth-quarter points and Lanier used a 10-0 run for a 54-45 lead with 1 minute, 17 seconds to play when Sean Johnson got a rebound basket.
Dandy Dozen senior forward Charles Rhodes added 10 points and 15 rebounds for the Bulldogs before fouling out with 4:01 left.
"It's a good win. Everybody was looking forward to this game, and Provine has been talking some noise," said Ellis, who averaged 39.7 points in three tournament games and is scoring at a 33.3-point clip for the season. "Every time we go to play Provine, we're going to play them a little bit better."
Lanier started in a 2-1-2 zone to offset the playmaking skills of Provine's Dandy Dozen senior point guard Charlie White, Mississippi's reigning Mr. Basketball. The Bulldogs returned to their customary man-to-man defense in the second half.
White scored 14 of his game-high 28 points as the Rams built a 29-26 halftime lead after falling behind 12-0. Provine's Derrick Smith, who drained five 3-pointers, ended with 18 points.
"We took shots too quick on offense and our post defense was terrible. We gave up too many second and third shots," Rams coach Luther Riley said. "Give Lanier credit. They're a really good defensive team.
"If we happen to play Lanier a lot more, we have to be ready for the challenge. Lanier is a great team and Coach Billups is a good coach. We have to come ready to play in all phases of the game."
