JSU WILL OPEN WITH DELTA STATE SEPT. 1ST

NO WAY should JSU or Alcorn play Delta State on the road. You don't play lower division teams on the road. There is no financial gain. But if we are going to play a D2 school this year this was the best choice.

JSU and ALCORN will never travel to Delta State.

Valley did because the schools are so close together and it's a "regional thing" between the 2 of them.
In that case, Valley going to Delta State was really no big deal in that area.

So, USM making it to a bowl game make them better than Delta State? The same Delta State that was one game away from playing for their second national championship. USM was 9-5 on the season and Delta State finished 12-3.

USM was the best team. Whatever you want to believe.

Man please.

USM would beat Delta State worse than they beat us 4 years ago.
Get real.

What you just said up there defies logic.

I see that there's no sense in trying to open your eyes to bigger opportunities that you all realize.
Band fan, plenty of people know about Jackson State. They're in Mississippi so you can't help but to know about them. But actually seeing them is a different thing.

The way some of yall think, we'll be back on the 9 game mandate in a few years.

The way you think, the SWAC may as well drop back down to D2.

Just you even impling that Delta State is on the same playing level as USM is crazy.
Man................You could put GRAND VALLY up against USM and the 3 time D2 champs would get the living hell beat out of them. :shame:

Actually, I could see Alcorn going to Cleveland...after all, they did a home-home with Fort Valley State (losing the series to them 3-1 :smash:) and I think with Morehouse as well. Also, JSU is the flagship HBCU in MS. I think Alcorn losing to DSU would go under the radar. It will look much worse for us to lose to Delta State.

JSU is going to win but this is going to be a good game with a lot on the line. Delta State is lost their QB but they return as many starters as we do!!

Yep................Like I said.
With the 2 schools so close together, it's not a big deal with Valley.
Those 2 school's playing in the DELTA is a win, win for everybody up there.
What would going to Cleveland be for JSU except an embarasment.

If JSU and ALCORN start's traveling to Cleveland, WHY IN HELL SHOULD WE STAY D1-AA.

If you want to have a D2 mentality while at the same time huffin' and puffin' to all these other 1-AA conferences about how BIG TIME WE ARE, we will only make ourselves look even weaker than we are.

This conference will never move past the "Good Game" stage against other conferences with this kind of thinking.

JSU travels to Cleveland or any other D2 IN THIS ERA OF FACILITY/PROGRAM BUILDING like they did Whitehaven years ago, I'm through.
That shat pi$$es me off to this day...............Going to Whitehaven because the President of JSU at that time parent's stayed in that region.

We supposed to be taking this conference to another level but we can't get out this smalltime mentality. :shame:

interesting....

I would support that MH.......................If the game is in Jackson.

This is no different than US playing USM
I understand USM NEVER comming to Jackson to play JSU.

It just ain't gonna happen no matter how many people are willing to pack Memorial.

interesting....

uuuuum, Tuskegee send help.

stagga,

I also think that the Valley/Delta State thing had more to do with ecomomics. There was not financial benefit over the game being played in a 8K seat stadium vs a 10K seat stadium unless you raise the ticket price significantly. Valley had nothing to bargain with. JSU averages 20K per game.

Exactly.

Valley and Delta ST playing a home and home is WAAAAAAAAY different than Alcorn or JSU giving a home and home with Delta St.

I will say that this should be the ONLY D2 school Valley should do this with because of the close prox. of the 2 school's serving the same region.
Again..............It's win, win for those 2 schools and that region.

This is a nice one-time thing, but playing Delta State every year would quickly get old for both teams. I'm actually not in favor of playing D-2 teams every year, but at least the new schedule gives up more flexibility. Before we only had 1 game a year to actually schedule(TNST is set in stone). Now we have 3.

Good one time game. Anyone who thinks JSU should travel to Delta State should kill themselves, cause you're already brain dead.

It just ain't gonna happen no matter how many people are willing to pack Memorial.

Which is just plain stupid on USM's part, unless they double their ticket prices at home to equal what they'd make at Memorial. We all know thats not gonna happen so both parties will lose out on some huge dollars.....just plain stupid.

Ya'll just don't get it do you.

USM playing in JACKSON is NOT about how much money they can make.
USM comming to JACKSON to play D1-AA JSU would make them the laughing-stock of this 1-A region.

OLE Miss and MS. State would have a field day.
The teams from the SEC, ACC, and BIG 12 that have just STARTED to give USM Home and Home games would not be doing that again.

Understand that BIG TIME COLLEGE FOOTBALL PRECEPTIONS are just as important as having a GOOD TEAM.

I don't care if the state offered USM $1 million tax free dollars, their AD would never agree to come to any 1-AA schools home city and turf to play.

USM Worked too hard to get these BIG TIME schools to respect them enough to come to Hattiesburg.
Before Con. USA was formed, USM would travel 7 times a year to play these teams with no hope of a home and home contract.
That's where that "Any time, Any place" motto of their's came from back in the '80's.

It ain't about the money all the time.
Traveling to Jackson State or any other lower class school would put a death nail in USM's big time dreams.

For USM its not a problem but JSU need every dime they can get. Why play USM when you can play Auburn, Florida, or Miami and make $100k-$200k more? It makes no sense for us to go down there and receive less. We have bills to pay and a program to "enhance". I'm for doing what makes sense, and if we can make more by playing a prestigious school then lets do it. I say only play USM if we benefit financially.

I hope not. Isn't USM JSU's season opener in 2008? I rather play in the Detroit Classic or the SWAC/MEAC challenge rather than open with Delta State every year.

Even if those things mean less money for us? If the DSU game fails to bring a crowd, then we should look elsewhere but what other school could possibly bring fans to Jackson? Most people are for home games, not classics if you can make more money from the home game. MOST classics are only going to pay you $150 to $200K and the school still has to pay expenses out of that. Why do that when you can make 200K at home after expenses?

The USM-JSU game has not been finalized.

Having three games to schedule is why the SWAC needs to act fast to let these AD's know what games count. I am assuming that the conference is going to continue to schedule conference games.

99, I don't think the JSU-DSU series would grow old because for the first game....there is always that unknown factor. If this were a midseason match-up, I would agree. However, knowing that DSU could beat us at any point (and they will on-average probably beat us more than Alcorn or Valley i.e. twice per decade) this should have as much interest as any other game. The thing I am banking on is having DSU bring AT LEAST 5K fans. That will pay for their own payout and leave us the money from our 12-15K fans. A home-home with a 1-AA would not carry the same money making potential. The thing I like about DSU is the money making potential. If we get significantly less than 20K fans, it's not worth it and the potential was never there. As I have said before, becasue of their graduation rate, DSU has to have an alumni base that is comparable to that of JSU and one that is nearly as large as Alcorn and Valley combined. Combine that with the fact that white folks support their schools and we might have a keeper. The good thing is: We will find out sooner than later but at least we will know one way or the other.

Hey TP.

What did you and the rest of the JSU CREW that post on that fake arse MEWAC board do to this Dumb Arse passin' for white HAMP-BONEITE:

By Hamptonite.

You mention the word SWAC over there and them mofo's act like they gonna catch black skin disease.
Yet they alway's acting sooooooooooooooo black.

You really need to respond.
I would, but I don't feel like registering again just to be bounced by that Alpha byotch again.

MH pay no attention to the person pos(t)ing as TP: Actually that is his neighbor's friends playmate's cousin's kid that has accessed/hacked into his computer. So disregard that statement.

You don't see Alabama State giving up their play date with D2 Tuskegee for a Classic or a 1-AA PWC do you? (whom they have lost to 9 out of the last 10 years). $$$ talks.....:lmao:

As far as I am concerned, unless we get a HIGH paying LONG term classic deal, Delta State is our best bet to make money in the long term.
