It is 2003. Are black college marching bands still relevant?

Dude get off that crap, when SU football team was down and out, people could have stayed home or went to see LSU, if they wasn't at all interested in seeing SU band.....

Why would someone black want to go to a LSU football game anyway. Its not like they want us there.

You think Jag fans get to Mumford Stadium at 7am and tailgate all damn day to hear y'all play a song??? Get real!!!
You'd be surprised.

I know with alot of HBCU's....the marching band may not be the sole reason for going to a game....but, they can be the deciding factor whether someone attends or not. Especially, when it comes to games that involve roadtrip'n.

If you want to take it there, so what else is there to do in Baton Rouge besides attending SU football games? Traveling to N.O. don't count. Lets be honest. Can we say, the only game in town. Don't get beside yawself.

:smh: .....smalltime logic

Small time logic if you think someone would want to leave their house on a Saturday JUST too see the band play. Unless there is nothing else better to do.

Black folks who attend those schools really don't have that much love for them (in the north anyway). Its just perceived as a better educational oppurtunity They know that school does not belong to them. And as far as blacks attending U of M compared to attending LSU, those are two totally different historical circumstances.

Bra, because you are not into bands, don't mean a lot of other folks aren't into it.... Get real.....

So I guess since HBCU football games aren't televised as much as PWC's and isn't recognized as much people that go see the HBCU play has nothing else better to do with their weekend....

Wake up and realize in HBCUs it all goes together......

Mainly those HBCU's that has strong band tradition......

You said the KEY word, "UP NORTH"...it's MUCH different down here in the south.

Since these people think that bands aren't important, let's see how many people are going to be in Veterans Stadium this Sunday when several black college bands are there performing. I'm quite sure that there will be several thousand people there to see bands!!
When was the last time that there about 20,000-30,000 people in Veterans Stadium just to see a football game with no bands? NEVER!! Bands are part of the Black College Football Experience just as much as the tailgates and the game.

As for Get Ready's comments. I find it funny that his screen name is the same as the name of the song that his band plays!!

Co-sign...somebody hasn't been taking their medication!!!! :p :p
