Is it fair to say that TN State is pound for pound the #1 HBCU Football Program the last 10-15 years

Did the pound for pound best HBCU even win an OVC title in the last 15 years? One FCS Playoff wins? I mean, they ONLY play four or three HBCU's a year and J-State was their personal hookup for years. Did they step out to play anybody else? Hell, FAMU owned that ass for a minute. Southern split with them. I didn't see them running to play Grambling.

You're giving them this on beating J-State, AAMU, and who?
But a swac school period besides GRAMBLING couldn't hang with the ovc so TnSU still ahead.

I have to lean towards Grambling. Even though the were terrible a few years ago, they made headlines only because the college football world knows that Grambling is a traditional HBCU powerhouse. I think they blew Tennessee State away in their last meeting. Alcorn has been very good of late, but they aren't a dominant program because they lose to teams they shouldn't lose to in the regular seasons. SCSU and BCU could make arguments for having the best all around programs as well.

Since 2001, AAMU is 6-4 against Tennessee State.

LOL

And you're basing that off of what fact?
That's just it..........no facts. Just an opinion that TnST is the best because they are not in an HBCU conference. Who says that any other SWAC or MEAC school can't have the same mediocre level of success if they were in the OVC also???

When you look TN State Football over the last 10-15 years, they really elevated themselves. They are still members of then Ohio Valley Conference and have basically owned the SWAC.

Grambling I believe is the only SWAC School with a winning record vs. TN State in Football. However, when is the last time Grambling played TN State?

It appears no one in the SWAC wants to see TN State. Considering what they've done, Pound for Pound, one could argue they are the Number #1 FCS HBCU Football Program the past 10-15 years.

Agree or Disagree?
Completely disagree. Since 2000, Bethune-Cookman has 13 winning seasons, multiple playoff appearances, hosted playoff games, and defeated a (weak) FBS team. Just 'cause TN State is in a non-HBCU conference, doesn't mean they have accomplished anything.

I really couldn't say. 10-15 years that's a strech. I know last year us, PV, Grambling, and Alcorn would've beat Tennessee state Alabama state should've beaten them last year. I know we beat them in 07 gave them the game in 08 beat them in 09 lost to them in 11. J state just makes them look awesome!!

Until they are in an HBCU conference they should not even be in this discussion. Hell they have had what 8 or 9 winning seasons in the last 15 years?

When is the last time a swac school has beaten a school that's FCS but not in swac nor Meac ?? Because these are the teams that TnSU play every weekend....

PV beat Stephen A Austin but was that a good PV Team? If you have to score to the moon because your defense is atrocious that to me is not a complete football team.

Our top teams can beat some PWIs but we dont play them enough and we play the wrong ones.... Besides, we too busy trying to schedule an azzwhoopin to even think of playing a fellow FCS school.

PVAMU beat the Southland Conf's stephen f austin @ their place 56-48 Sept 2013. Too much offense that day and no defense, PVAMU's former achilles heel.

FTR, I still believe TnSt has arguably been the most consistent because they play teams in their conference, that well, we could not defeat (past tense), imho. It has nothing to do w/ "white or black school," but moreso to the better coaching AND the level of student-athletes they recruited vs ours (as a conf) back then. If you look @ some of their rosters, you'd think you're playing against an HBCU due to the sheer # of black student-athletes they front sprinkled w/ those super performing white kids. Think I'm lieing, schedule Sam Houston St/McNeese St right now this very second fall 2017 and watch what occurs. :D lol

FTR2: sfa wasn't offensively non-competitive for the most part fall 2013 - they didn't have a defense (sound familiar?) - when they went 1-6 IC and 3-9 overall. These are their results:

Loss @ Weber St 50-40
Loss @ texas tech 61-13
Win vs McMurray 50-13
Win vs #3 Montana St 52-38
Loss to PVAMU 56-48
Loss @ SELA 56-14
Win vs Nicholls 55-41
Loss @ #23 UCA 66-31
Loss @ #8 SHSU 56-49
Loss vs #11 McNeese St 69-38
Loss @ Lamar 46-45
Loss @ NwStU 40-27

If your school had its teeth kicked down its throat by a SLC/OVC school recently (< 15 yrs), I seriously don't think you have a leg to stand on negatively commenting about non-competitivity of TnSU lol. And your school schedules sub D-I FCS? lol Please. lol .
