How much vacation time you got left?

89.5 hours annual
77.5 hours sick
28 hours comp time

I have to take my "mental" health days every now and then. I use the bulk of my leave when we go on our family vacation.

I don't plan on using a lot of time during the holidays. If the "bigwigs" are gonna be out, I may as well go to work and do nothing. :D

Yes. We get two weeks off for christmas so I don't ever have to use my days. I take a day here and there. Had 480 but I took 40 to go to Key West three weeks ago.

I remember those days :bawling:

But i have 32 hours left plus holiday time (two days for thanksgiving, two days for christmas)

Oh, I don't use my time during holidays. Between Christmas Eve and the first business day after New Year's Day, the plant shuts down. HOLIDAY PAY.

You guys have some dayum good jobs. I get 3 weeks and 1 diversity day PER YEAR. Use it by 12/31 or LOOSE IT. There is not a such thing as SICK DAYS. You sick, you stay at home, but you don't accrue it.

I have 5 vacation days remaining.

Thats what I was thinking too Sperm. ****, I got 4 days left for the year/2 sick days.

I get 2 weeks vacation time and 1 week of sick time at the beginning of the year. You use it or lose it by year end.

I think lots of these folks work for the government.

Still, my question is HOW DO YOU LET 1000+ hours of vacation time BUILD UP on you?

I'm sorry, by the end of the year, I would be out of vacation and sick time. I just got to have mine.

oh, I totally feel what you're saying. I takes my time off...they give it, for a reason. I don't love no job that damn much. I'll get that dedicated, when I start working for myself. :D

In my field just because they give it to you doesn't mean they will let you use it when you want to. Dead lines and schedules mean you take it when they let you.

yeah CEE, but damn...have you taken any time off this year?

I took one week off. As long as Bush keeps playing that will be the norm.
Bless your dear heart...that's how folks get burnt out. You gotta take your time off. And they should be allowing you all to take it. Glad I don't work for that type of company. At least we are encouraged to take our time off.

That does not count flex time.

Plus, my current job works a 9-80 shift. I work 9 hour days M-F, every other Friday is 8 hours. If we are in "Test"...that's 10 hour days...Friday is either off or OT and that is a salaried position.

I am a computer programmer and everyday I'm working toward a deadline. However, I CONTROL my deadlines. Although a work week is 40 hours per week, when I give estimates, it is based on a 34 hour work week. That is the MOST work I will put in in a given week. The remaining 6 hours are administrative hours (vacation, sick, etc.). So, that way my vacation/sick time is not compromised in my work.

The more I work past 40 hours per week, the less effective I am.

That's what I mean about getting burnt out. Too much work ain't good.

Our schedule changes daily. :smh: Sometimes hourly. :smh: I don't mind though. OT is great though. Enjoy while we can because the next commander in cheif will kill it.

My regular schedule is to work 89 hours every 2 weeks with every other Friday off. That equates to 7-5 every day except the Friday I do work and that is 7-4. The only thing is, I've only been off 2 of my Fridays I was supposed to be off.

520.91 Sick hours
505.91 Annual hours

I am a state employee, the time is rolled over, can only get 300 at 30 days after separation. I don?t take a lot of days off unless it is totally necessary. I take a few rest days but maybe 3 or 4 a year. Working for the State of Louisiana you get 15 days off a year anyway. During Katrina, state workers in New Orleans had to use their annual and sick time to get paid. The worker that did not have the time had problems. I knew a lady who spent most of her time in Los Vegas until she got her business strait with her house and stuff because she had over 3000 hour of sick and annual. She spent about 8 months chillin, waiting on a check and retired after her house was rebuilt. That?s why try to keep at least 400 hour at all times for an unexpected disaster

I'm an academic. I do not work in the summer, I start third week of August, stop first week of May. In between I am off 1 day for Labor Day, 2 days Thanksgiving, 30 days for Christmas and Winter Break, 1 day for MLK, 2 days for Mardi Gras, 3 days for Easter. I only work 150 days a year. I LOVE MY JOB for this very reason.

I'm a longtime salaried professional in the corporate world, which means I wrack up a boatload of comp time. I get 4 weeks' vacation and two weeks for medical time and one personal day.

I've traveled a lot this year, but still have about 2.5 weeks of vacation time left because I used comp days for some of my trips.

I'm going to New Orleans, Prentiss and Jackson to see family for Thanksgiving, (if I get over the fear of crossing Lake Ponchatrain at I-10. Valium send help).

Not sure how I'll use the remaining hours. Likely will carry over a couple of days to attend an Alpha Kappa Alpha Centennial event in January. Washington, D.C., here I come!

I'll come up with some way to use those other hours because I ain't gonna lose 'em. :flamethro

That is the one thing I miss about working at Southern is the time off for Christmas. It is still hard for me to get use to working more than half the month of December. I take my 4 days around Christmas to simulate what I had at Southern.
