Can your job count on you to be there EVERYday? Are you the type that make it to work through rain, shine, sleet or snow? Or are you the type that feels personal days are to be taken when giving to you. On some jobs if you don't take your personal days in time, you lose them. Which are you?

Since I cannot carry over any days from year to year, I use 'em all....

I uses my time...all of it. I'm reliable, but since they give us the time off and we can't carry it over, I use it. Everyone needs time off to take care of personal business and/or to just get a break. Sometimes you just need a mental health day.

I use my days when necessary. If that is for a mental health day, I will do so. I don't, however, abuse my ability to take off when needed. I believe in getting my tasks done so there is no question about when I do take a day or two off.

There ya go...and I also don't always take off on Fridays and/or Mondays. There are lots of folks that do that, and management takes note of that. It will effect your review.

So true! I almost prefer taking days in the middle of the week. It breaks up the week and makes it go by faster. Plus, not as many people out and about if you need to get stuff done in the middle of the week.

Bless your heart... Hell, some companies don't care...but mine does.
True. I look for patterns & some folks make it REAL easy. Got a call from Sue(they are NOT supposed to call me & she know that,) here's her story. My thoughts as I'm listening to her in parenthesis.

Fort, I tried to call Joe today to tell him I was going to be late & was told he'll be out for 2wks (Yo arse knew that last week, stop playing dumb. They ALWAYS tell ya'll when they'll be out.) I spoke to another manager, Moe & told him I take care of a bill & I'd be a little late (Yo arse over-slept and u know it won't be excused.) I got sick on the way to take care of that & went to the doctor. I was given meds & they told me to stay home 'til Thurs. (How convenient - just enough time to qualify for FMLA considering the illness. Of course your tight tail knew that.)

Her history/pattern of behavior leads me to see things as I do, plus she's the type to tell me later she wasn't sick. :retard:

Dummy...doesn't she know y'all watch that type of behavior. :smh:

Since they say I'm never officially off, I very rarely take time off where it's recorded as a day off. However, I am out of the office often.

I never took off at the last job unless I absolutely had to. My wife's schedule was opposite mine, so we could take care of issues with the baby without taking off from work. I could roll over vacation time, but personal and sick leave were either used or lose. When I left the last job, I had 7 weeks of vacation time. They put it in a nice taxed check and sent it to me. With the current job. They will only allow you to rollover 40 hrs. I guess I might as well start being sick alot, even when I'm not. :xeye:

I am at work more than anyone else. I actually had a week of vacation time from last yr that I rolled over to this yr. I said I would take all of it this yr. I do have VPN and can work from home if I have to, but usually I'll just check a few emails and leave it at that.

Either way, her paying her bills isn't your concern and not an excuse for missing work or being late. She can mail it in, call it in or online! Getting sick is another matter that companies will probably have to revise the rules since so many abuse this priviledge. If they have the days, I don't a problem with it, but as soon as they run out of days, that's where the problem begins. I always tell my employees at the beginning of the year to use your days wisely, ya never know when you will ACTUALLY have to use them.

1. I'm the one that can be trusted to call in sick on long holidays.
2. I'm the one that believes in you "TAKING" your personal days, cause nothing's not giving to you on your job, but "hell".
3. I'm the one that the guy in the supervisor training class warned you about.
4. I'm the one that believes that when you worked all your life and get old, then it's too late to vacation because you cant do the things you truly wanted to do when you dreamed about vacationing when you was young.

I used to believe in going to work everyday. All of my co-workers took days off like candy... so I was like hmm.... Why am I sitting on 10 days when I could take one here and one there. Most of the time I did legitimate stuff on my days off like appointments etc. I did not take sick days for doctor appointments because I didn't want my employer all in my biz. I used them sick days for real sick days because they can't deny you a sick day if you have a doctor's excuse.
