I think the SWAC schedule needs to be put out for the next three years. Then you can work on OOC games. There is no excuse for not finding opponents on the FCS level. We have to stop waiting till the last minute trying to fill out schedules. Edward Waters, Concordia, Langston, Wagner have no business on anybody schedule in the SWAC.

You sound like our Alumni President...he said if GSU gets $2 million we should be able to help Southern find $1 million..basically saying we are all in this together.

We are in this together, pretty much. If we cannot pull each other up (without the stifling isolationist 9-game mandate policy), then each school has to make a hard decision ... especially in today's economic climate. The key is ALL 10 MEMBER SCHOOLS IN LOCKSTEP WORKING TO MOVE THE CONFERENCE FORWARD.

We have several TSPNers talking trash about leaving the conference, but the funny thing is their school probably has never put any concrete plans for leaving the SWAC.

Alabama State and FAMU made failed attempts, partly because of infrastructure, partly because those schools more than likely tried to talk fellow schools to move up and form a conference of fellow HBCUs. (We don't need to rehash all of that though).

I think that's on the Presidents. The MEAC put a ban on playing those schools a LONG time ago. If you play a D2 school in the MEAC, you have to play a fine AND you can only play one. Now, things could have changed but at one point that is how it was.

Yes and No...SU, JSU, and GSU's presidents what change....but they are outnumbered and outgunned. So you are right to a degree. I just hate that they are outnumbered.

The SWAC should do the same. Also we have to remember that the MEAC goes to the FCS playoffs so playing these lower tier schools hurts their standing. Which is why I am so damn happy about the BCS going to a playoff format.

I don't think he really is tweeting all those inspirational messages, I think they have his account set up to automatically send those out every morning on his account. I never see anything other than those coming from him.

Playing D2 teams also affect the MEAC Title race


The tiebreaker system is used to determine which team will
receive the conference Automatic Qualifier for the NCAA
Playoffs or the specified Bowl game, whichever is applicable.
Two-Team or Multiple-Team Tie – If the tied teams played each
other, head-to-head competition will be used to determine the
representative. For multiple ties, head-to-head record vs. all
teams tied.
1.) If a tie still exists then the following shall be used:
A. Six (6) points for a win against a Division I-(FBS) team;
B. Count four (4) points for a non-conference Division
I-(FCS) win;
C. Subtract (4) points for a loss against a Division II team;


MEAC teams USED to get points for beating D2 teams...but that was fixed after the 2010 season...FAMU was on the wrong end of the rule as we tied with BCU and SCSU for the MEAC Title...but BCU and SCSU went to the playoffs while FAMU stayed home...SCSU got points for beating a D2 team that season
