Come on JaguarNation, you know football better than that. You just can't say since this team did this, they should do that to the other team. Their are many things that factor into the game. Tressel was completely out coached in that game last year. One of his best player's (Ted Ginn) got hurt the first play. He made no adjustments what so ever.

Steve Spurrier and Florida used to run LSU off the field back in the day with the spread offense. Please don't have me post some of those scores.

Yes, but LSU was hardly a good team in Spurrier's heyday, they struggled beating Vandy most years. I know that just because something works against one team, it doesn't automatically mean it should work against everyone. The question is why. Yes Tressel was outcoached, yes Ginn was hurt, but you still can't deny that Smith wasn't escaping and running around Florida's defense the way he did against Michigan. You can't tell me that was just scheme. I think we both agree that coaching and speed are problems with the defense, we just disagree on which is the bigger concern.

I don't know so much about coaching that cost OSU the national title game as much as the injury to Ginn. That was their best offense player. Florida did not have to worry about him so all they had to do was double Gonzalez play zone and blitz Smith.

Plus, the OSU offensive line was not use to that type of speed on the D-line. The team that closely resembled the Florida defense that year was Texas. And OSU won. But UF was just way too fast.

You can make adjustments for everything else but speed. Plus, OSU could no run the ball either. So it made the defending the pass much easier for UF.
 
Money is no problem for Michigan. The University of Michigan is America's richest public university with a five billion dollar endowment.
 
Bye Bye Lloyd Carr. You got out coached by Tressel once again. Once again your team shows up unprepared and uninspired for a big game. How in the hell can you only score 3 points against OSU. OSU was suppose to have a rebuilding year and you (UM) were returning all your stars on offense.

Now us UM fans have to suffer through one more Bowl game coached by you. One more time your unprepared and uninspired team will get their butts handed to them. You will have about a month to prepare for the game and yet your team will play like it's the first game of their careers. Thanks Llyod.

Ohio State could've had Ginn and they still would've gotten demollished. Ginn was one of the most overrated players last year.

Ginn overated? Not as a college player. He proved he was a game breaker against EVERYBODY in college that he played against. Now that might not translate to a big time NFL career. But in college he showed what he could do. Ask Florida how overated he was on that kickoff return. Nobody on Florida's team could run with that kid.

Look at who Ginn was playing against. That opening kickoff TD was a fluke. I guess Troy Smith was the best player in the nation last year too.......:retard::retard:

I'm giving my opinion. I'm not impressed, he wasn't the best return man in teh nation and he definately wasn't a top 5 receiver. He was fast but him not being in the game was NOT a factor. Ohio State's OVERRATED defense still wouldn't have stopped Florida.

Troy did have the best year of anybody last year. McFadden was a close second. You can't diminish what Troy did last season. I know yall SEC lovers hate the Big 10.

If Ginn had not return kicks for a TD before then you can call that a fluke.
 
Michigan coach Carr to hold press conference on Monday

It appears that Michigan lost a little more than just the game against Ohio State.

ESPN has learned that Michigan coach Lloyd Carr will hold a 10 a.m. press conference on Monday at which time he is expected to announce his retirement.

Carr led many to believe he would retire after this season when he altered his contract last winter and made sure all of his assistants were given unprecedented, two-year deals in the spring. Speculation has run rampant about 62-year-old coach's future.

"There will be a day to discuss that, and this isn't it," he said Saturday.

With a 14-3 home loss Saturday, Carr became the first coach at Michigan (No. 21 BCS, No. 23 AP) to go 1-7 over a seven-year stretch against No. 7 Ohio State (11-1, 7-1 Big Ten).

Cornerback Morgan Trent said Carr did not address his future before or after the game.

"We'll just have to wait and see like everyone else," Trent said.

It's a rap for Carr. What I don't understand is why would Michigan give Carr's assistant coaches two year contracts when they know he might retire this year? I guess the new coach won't have the opportunity to bring in his own coaches. That new coach is already set up for failure. Unless they're going to promote someone from with in. Michigan assistant coaches are a big part of the problem. Carr is making sure his and Bo legacy remain at Michigan.

Yep that's all he did. Made sure they got a year salary to give them time to look for a job. If I was the new coach I would keep JSU alum Fred Jackson on staff. He is a helluva recruiter and has recruited all their rbs for years and years. Good people as well.

If Les Miles get the job.......he is connected to Bo as well. So he might keep some of these guys. Bo Pellini the LSU DC will not be coming with Les if he is the head coach at Michigan. He is going to get a HC job this off season. So Ron English the DC at Michigan might keep the job as well. But it will be interesting to see who the hire if it aint Les.

Carr told The Associated Press of his decision Sunday by phone and said he would not comment further. A press conference will be held Monday on campus.

The news comes a day after Michigan lost to Ohio State for the fourth straight year, ending a trying regular season for Carr and the Wolverines that started with an embarrassing loss to Appalachian State.

It was a move many expected last winter when he altered his contract, paving the way for this to be his last season on the sideline, and later made sure the school gave all of his assistants unprecedented, two-year deals.

Linebacker Chris Graham told the AP earlier that Carr let the team know of his plans during a meeting Sunday.

Jackson should be retained, English will probably stay as well. The OC and his archaic system should be out (how many times can you run left in a row?). As far as having to buy out the assistants that aren't kept, it's not like they're making head coaches' salaries. Combined, all the assistants might be pulling in 1.5 million, buying them out won't be a problem.

All he has to do at Michigan is win the Big 10......beat Ohio State more than he loses to them and he is home free there. At LSU there is no promise that they will dominate the SEC year in and year out. In the Big 10.......as long as Michigan can recruit well......they will be in the hunt. Aint like Iowa, Wisconsin, and others will be consistent threats to the Big 2 in the Big 10. Even Penn State is no threat to them. So nah man......Miles would be smart to take the Michigan job and leave LSU. Talk about job security. Hell Miles is one loss away from LSU fans wanting to hang him out to dry now. LOL.

No Conference Championship to risk spoiling a National Championship bid. Far less teams that can ruin a good season for you. Basically if you can beat your arch rival, Michigan, you will be in a major bowl if not National Championship.

If I was Les, I wouldn't leave, because he received a goldmine from the dude now in Alabama and he has been smart enough to keep the Louisiana borders lockdown. I like LSU and Michigan a fan. However, I don't know who LSU would be fortunate enough to snag if Les decides to go home. So, it may be worth it to him to wait to see if a carrot could lure him away. If so, find out what carrot and "And 1" them to keep him in Baton Rouge.

Hmmm....Possibly there could be two former SEC coaches in the Big Ten. One coach already beat the No. 1 and No.5 teams in the nation, and has a Top 10 recruiting class. If Miles joins Michigan...There could be three Top 10 Big Ten teams in the next few years. And then you add Tressel and Wisconsin and even the resurgence of Indiana.... that's a good conference.

LSU will be fine. Plenty of good coaches will want that job.....Jimbo Fisher, their current OC Gary Crowton, their current DC in Bo Pellini if he doesn't take the Nebraska job.

You just listed the very reasons for Miles to go. It is an easier path to a BCS title at Michigan. He aint going to win every year in the SEC which means mad LSU fans. At Michigan he got a 50-50 chance or better to win the Big 10. His only serious competition will be Ohio State. Maybe Illinois now that Zook is recruiting his arse off there. Wisconsin and Iowa and maybe Purdue raise their heads to challenge every so often. Penn State is done until Joe Pa retire.

See the problem of being loaded at LSU raises the expectation. Plus because of the man at Alabama, LSU folks want another championship and are more rabid about it than Michigan fans. Michigan fans are more astute about winning. They want to beat OSU and win the Big 10 and sure they like to win a National Title. But you will not get run off for not winning a National Title. Those LSU fans will want Miles gone if he stays and don't win a NC with that talent this year or next. His alma mater will provide him with less pressure. Beat Ohio State at least half of the time and win a few Big 10 titles and actually win your bowl games will go a long way at Michigan. Even Tressel actually has less pressure at Ohio State than Miles does. All he had to do was beat Michigan, win bowl games and get to the national championship which he has done twice and won once. Now if Saban had stayed at LSU he would have not had the pressure. Since he had won a title for them.

Nope anybody thinks that Miles should stay at LSU over Michigan is setting him up to fail. Now if he win the National Title this year......then maybe just maybe he should think about not going to Michigan. But if he slips or stumbles in the SEC title game or the BCS title game......he better get out of BR as fast as he can to Ann Arbor. Either way if I was him I bolt. He is a Michigan man.....aint like he would be leaving LSU for Louisville. No matter how tough the SEC is.......Michigan is still a more prestigious job than LSU. Aint nothing like coaching at your alma mater if they want you. Especially if you can lead them to a NC.
