HBCU MEDIA DAYS: PREVIEWING THE 2016 SWAC FOOTBALL SEASON

He did, he didn't know that Quinn had 1 more year of eligibility. Kind of makes me question the amount of research he put into this presentation because a simple call to Coach would have prevented this. lol

Please, allow me to retort.

1. Willie Quinn was an All-America for his SPECIAL TEAMS performance last season. His numbers as a receiver dropped last season (playing two games in monsoon/tropical storm environments will hurt your numbers). If it were SWAC PlayStation Player of the Year ... then Willie would've won hands down.

2. If Willie puts up numbers similar to 2014 (62-892-5 TDs) as a receiver AND get close to what he did on returns last year ... then you can make the case.

3. Quinn's chances of being SWAC Offensive Player of the Year and kind of directly tied to Austin Howard's success at the QB position. So voters may go chicken-and-egg when it comes to deciding Quinn over Howard. However, all that talk is null and void if Tillery leads the conference in rushing again, notches his 3rd-straight 1,000-yard season and passes Destry Wright as the conference's all-time leading rusher.

4. I knew Willie stood a chance of getting this year back when he initially didn't get cleared when he first got to Southern. Didn't have to talk to coach Odums, but I talked to others close to the program to confirm whether he was coming back for sure in 2016 (that's why I talked about him breaking the FCS record in total returns for touchdowns).

Fa**ot State? Wait homophobic slurs are allowed on the sports page? I'll be damned.

And that's like his 100th offense & he's still here trying to get others banned for commenting on a public forum like everyone else. If it was anyone else they would've been banned smh.

Back to the thread: Out of the SWAC E, it's a 2 team race, imho: AlaSU and AlcSU. AlcSU has momentum, amidst the coaching changes. AlaSU has a great coaching staff and the personnel w/ spring practice in tow w/ another year to solidify implementing their off/def schemes. IMHO, AlaSU has the potential to be a power team. The type of team that doesn't use trickery but will line up in a 2 TE set and run the ball.

Out of the SWAC W, I give the nod to GSU and SU. They both have a lot returning w/ coaching staffs in place sans SU's def staff. Both are tremendously loaded w/ star personnel. IMHO, I think PVAMU is the underdog in a majority of our games. The element of surprise is gone so all got a taste of Simmon's offense and Street's defense so there'll be no surprises this fall. All had a year to study and adjust/scheme so it'll be hard for us to repeat this past falls' performance unless a few pivotal additions/surprises here and there are evident :) .

You did the video?

You did the video?

No, I didn't do the video. My bad on that one.

However, they are not the only ones that excluded Willie from preseason honors. Athlon didn't have him as a preseason All-America. Football Gameplan did so as well.

Yeah I figured it had to be some plausible reason why he was left off those lists for special teams. lol

I thought there were some major Jag haters around the country after reading those lists and not seeing him listed. lol

But it's indicative of some of the laziness that comes with FCS outlets covering the SWAC and MEAC. Outside of Tarik Cohen, the mainstream FCS audience seems to not GAF

It's almost here, you cornballs.

Someone from Jstate, is it true that the SU vs JSU game will be at 1, if so, KYS

How we play up for SU when on most years we have a better team and you all play your BEST game of the year vs JSU.
Dude stop talking like j st better than us. Overall we own y'all and we've beating y'all in every championship known to man. It doesn't make since for Southern to be up for j st when we already established y'all are our bottom bitch years ago!!

Dude, as a football program, you sit beneath JSU. Yeah, you got some wins in the 30s and then you got some in the 90s under Pete but other than that, JSU has had a better program than you. So yeah, you get up for JSU.

Pretty decent

East

Bama state
Alcorn
Jackson state
Bama A&M
Valley

West

Grambling
P View
Southern
Texas S
UAPB

Just got a chance to watch this:

The game of the year right now will clearly be PV vs GSU. I have PV winning the SWAC so that's where my money is right now but I want to see what GSU can do with Kincade. They have the players and an intact staff so PV will have to still show that they can truly dethrone them.

Dude couldn't mention a single player from AAMU...smh

I think he did a good job with the JSU analysis. Right now, I have JSU at 3rd in the EAST but that is because we still have a lot to prove. A lot of times when I heard dude mention each team unit, I was thinking how much better JSU will be in most of those areas. At the end of the day, we have to handle our business and play at top speed if we hope to get to Houston.

Alcorn and SU appear, from listening to this to be in the same boat defensively. They both have new defensive staffs and lost some key players. The difference is, Alcorn should still have some offense. Im not sure what to make of SUs offense now that Germany is gone. They have the talent but not sure about the coaching. And when did SU get a good secondary? I'm not so sure about that one.

Aww man please!! We got more championships plus let's not forget your school avoided us for 30 years after that debacle in 1929( I didn't want to go here). Plus j st at best is behind Southern and Grambling.

I just so happen to be in Birmingham for business and I see them setting up the SWAC Media Day postings all in lobby and entrance of the hotel I am staying at. Good to see all of the people checking in too.

Dude, JSU joined the SWAC in 1958 and since that time, JSU and GSU have won the most championships. You did your damage to JSU in the leather helmet days.... LOL
