what do you think would happen if one of your schools played a PWC in football and you brought one of your "c**n" bands. How do you think people from the West Coast and East Coast feel about the "Hooka Hooka", "Jiggalatin", "Bunnie Hop" and all those other slave jigs you do in the club in the South. lol Its whatever....Carry On..
They'd probably think that said band was c**n/ghetto. But, said "c**n" band members/directors etc. probably wouldn't care & would continue to "hooka hooka, jiggalatin, & bunnie hop."

If the CIAA/MEAC schools Cheerleaders are so good. Why is it that they don't participate for the NCA National Chapionship?

But they have. Morgan, UMES and AT&T have done it. And from what I've seen MEAC/CIAA are totally different. MEAC is a hybrid of technical and stomp and shake. You will see stomp and shake and stunting. CIAA is ALL stomp and shake.

Morgan and Morris Brown went to NCA's on numerous occasions. I've seen them in my cheering.

NonChalant, I'm right here here with you girl!

NorthCak, VA, DC, and Maryland....are what we call the "Middle east" !
East coast all day but not the deep-south in attitude or lifestyle.

And I have never even heard of any of the Hooka, jangingin jig, foot buster...or what ever those songs are?

That must be like our Go-Go Music for NC, VA, DC, MD. :dizzy:

You you guys even have Go-Go down there?

work it out

As far as cheerleading Johnson C. Smith Universtiy a stomp/shake -traditional team came in 10th at the 2000 NCA championship. :lecture:

There is a time and a place NCA nationals is not the setting for throwin down. The rules and standards are clear. At your home gym. Don't ever let the other team get the best of you.

Now that WSSU is moving up to Division-IAA I can't wait for them to finally get to lay it to one of you SWAC schools.

You guys are about to find out the hard way!!!

I attend Alcorn State Universtiy and our cheerleader aren`t the best so i kind of tune out all cheer leaders. However , I have to give it up to A&T  because they held my attention the longest out of anybodies cheerleaders all last year. They were the crunkest cheer leaders i have seen so far.

Let me get this straight...so if they cheer on a NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED level, (in other words how its done in 90% of the world) then we are wanna be's? Let me clarify a few things....1) the rhyming/stomping thing is NOT cheerleading. Just because they wish it doesnt make it so. Thats just like the laker girls calling themselves cheerleader but yet to date they have yet to do a cheer. They just dance. Thats a DANCE TEAM. What the stepping/rhyming signifies....is a STEP TEAM. I have seen both, participated in both. Its a glorified dance off. I would not say you do not need any SKILL to do the latter but i will say that not many of them girls can come out and do a roundoff back handspring back tuck into a full extension. CHEERLEADING wheter you believe it or not is a DANGEROUS sport. (if you are any good).

Now for the GRAMBLING HAVING THE BEST SQUAD thing....true James is a GSU alumni, but WHERE IS HE NOW. Furthermore I do not recall GSU being nationally ranked in Black college nationals AS WELL AS NCA National competitions REPEATEDLY like SU. GSU you is good but dont GLORIFY them. I have yet to see one of them partake in that same stunt aforementioned. (by the way that is a normal stunt for su).

in conclusion...CHEERLEADING IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. The latter is just meant to be "fun" I guess. Its like comparing Street Ball to NCAA standards. It doesnt happen and is pointless. You cannot play streetball at duke, lsu or even at hbcu's. You will get fouled out, kicked out the game or worse off the team. With cheerleading you could not step/rhyme at a national competition they would laugh you off the stage!

Always with us...."The white way is the right Way!!!" :splat: :splat: :splat: :splat: :splat: :splat:

Well I think NC A&T should be higher on the list with Morgan State because for the past two years NC A&T has beat Morgan State at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Coca-Cola cheerleading championship. Although Morgan has been right behind NC A&T you must give both of them the credit they deserve. The great thing about NC A&T is that they have the skill level of many elite teams but have never lost their stomp & shake roots.

NC A&T is a MEAC school and they have competed in the NCA. If you have enough skill you don't have to cheer just one way. A&T does stomp & shake, tumbles, and stunts. They do coed stunting and all girl. Not many teams can do both. The stomp & shake cheerleading is so precise if "white teams" saw it they probably would be amazed!

Here at Grambling we have a cheerleaders that can do it all. We have an co-ed squad and an allgirl squad. If anyone finds themselves in Daytona, FL this weekend. go to the NCA Championships and show your support for the GSU Cheerleaders. C Phi L 2001 "Sugar Bear"
