how many freshmen have reported to camp and practiced only to be ruled ineligible by the clearinghouse after publications are printed?

I've seen some media guides printed before SWAC media day and anything that early is very inaccurate...

No Ralph, you obviously misinterpreted the gist of my post (here and on AGS). My intent was to show that the inquiry was triggered due to the names being listed on the roster sheet. This is not the SID's fault (having an accurate roster)...My thing is that the names on the list (regardless of who was responsible for that list), is what prompted someone to contact the NCAA (that and the fact that we kicked so much azz on the field).

You cna tell them anything and they will still believe whatever..... People are going to assume untilthe report comes out just to get a rise.... No matter who praticed or played the fact remains that you can take all the WINS away but the FACT STILL REMAINS THAT WE KICKED ARSE THIS ENTIRE SEASON!!!!!!!!! This is typical of the "the news star". Whenever there's an opportunity to print negative press on *SU, you can bet they will be the first in line. ULM and La tech can get away with murder and the news star will dress it up to make them appear innocent. I would suspect that *rambling is about to land a couple of blue-chip recruits out of that area.
I certainly hope that this turns out to be nothing more than an inquiry. Every decade it seems that a SWAC team steps-up and takes the league to a new level. I would rather use my ladder to rise to their level than pull them down to mine.

Listen, I broadcast the games for GSU-TV and I know for a fact none of those players accused of playing played. Why doesn't everyone go to www.swac.org click on football and go to the stats?
 
People will keep on digging deeper and deeper for some BS. Nothing is going to happen to Grambling. I'm out.

Honestly sometimes you scare us with common sense. SMACK Grambling over there on the other board if you may, but over here, very few folks even want to have a serious discussion. I'll just wait until all the facts come out and not jump to conclusions.
 
The NewsStar's beat writer for Grambling is the Sports Editor, Nick Deriso. I go on record as saying that Nick has given Grambling more and better (more in depth) coverage than we have ever received...But the most important thing is that our coverage is equal or (if you asked the Tech and ULM fans) more than those two schools receive. Nick has a lot to do with that!

Just as he reports the good, it is his responsiblity as a journalist to report the NCAA being in town. Nick came dangerously close in the article of not being objective. If you re-read the story, you will see that he answers/dismisses the "rumored" allegations.
 
MikeBigg I agree Nick is very fair. I really don't think GSU will be violated for playing illegal players but I think they will get punished for practicing players who were not cleared by the NCAA. Unless complaince decides to turn state on Gram?

Everyday there is a story on our football team or bball team as of lately. Again i say the advocate rather crap on y'all and praise lsucks than give y'all 2 signees any coverage!!!!!!


I'll take our coverage over anybody else anyday !!!!!!

as for news coverage....if you get 50% game stories in football, basketball, etc, weekly follow-ups, etc. then I can live with the other 50% being on issues surrounding the school...

my beef is in Houston when you don't see the paper around for no athletic events and then they pop up with long, negative stories about you (i.e., TSU last Friday and Saturday)
 
So is this the REAL reason Spears did not want players' names on their jersey's??? Inquiring minds want to know. Maybe this was premeditated cheating. :snicker:

AGAIN i say gram gets the best coverage bar none. I have been to every opposing school city and i read all the papers. No paper compares in coverage to the news star. Where i might see a paragraph for a certain swac school i look in the news star and see several write ups on gram and the opposing team . The timing of this article is weird but its not like the reporter picked the ncaa to come to gram. The NCAA pick their own time to come on whomever campus they want and the newspaper has an obligation to report it. Objectively and fair of course. That is what i see so far from the news star. To follow up that article the reporter writes a great piece on the legacy of brothers who have played at gram. With quotes from parents about spears.

Nick keep putting the stories in the paper cause i read it everyday !!!!!!!!

10 feel good stories to 1 not feel good is okay to me anyday !!!!!
