I call them puffer fish. They puff themselves up with air when threatened or fighting to make themselves look larger.

About the same in Texas and if the act is serious enough they will confiscate your gear and vehicle.

Yes. They said there are two strips of meat behind the eyes that are edible.
Plus court cost.
I'm not sure of the exact amount of the fine in NC but I do know the court cost can be upwards of $200.
I just spoke with a friend of mine and he told me the fines vary by species. For example, a gray trout is $75 per fish. An out of season/undersized flounder is around $125 per fish.

You and me both. I've seen Asian families that catch ribbon fish and eat them on the pier. The guy told me they are good for your "nature" and tried to get me to taste it. I said hard (no pun intended) pass!

I don't use lures at all. I use Fishbites instead of fresh dead shrimp most of the time. I rarely fish using live bait.
Most of the time, I tip my shrimp or blood worms with the Fishbites. I use them to help hold the shrimp on the hook if I’m casting from the pier or in the surf. I’m also thinking about trying live shrimp.

I totally agree. That fish ain't no good to eat. It just is good for laying eggs or putting the Sperm in the eggs.
