FCS Attendance Week Ending 12/08/12

FCS is about competition.............something the mentality of this conference ran from a long time ago.

Well, people have the right to look at things differently. The MEAC and TNState didn't run but have you seen their OOC records? I just don't see the correlation. Contrary to what you say, I don't look at the playoffs as competition. What if JSU goes to the playoffs and plays the #1 team and loses, what does that mean? Does that also mean we would lose to #4, #8, # 12 too? If anything, THAT would be a meaningless game. We would know walking in that they are better than not only us but everyone else. True competition would be for us to go to a 7 game format and play 3-4 of these teams during the regular season. If we can't beat them in the regular season, what are we going to the playoffs for? To say we went? We beat them in the regular season and then let them have their playoffs. Then who would be looking stupid.

But as for ODUs 20K. JSU could draw that in Jackson for a playoff game. We both know that but I think people posted those numbers to show the pro-playoff crowd that we are in the better position. I bet when I go to frat meeting next week, people gonna tell me they saw JSU. I bet if i asked them if they saw ODU, they will be confused. We are doing what the FBS teams do and we outdrew the C-USA, PAC -12 the MAC championship games

Conf USA - 17,635
MAC - 18,132
Pac 12 - 31,662
SWAC - 32, 480
Big 10 - 41,260
ACC - 64,778
SEC - 75,624

OK..............Playing the best in a playoff for a National Championship is not competition and we are in a better position, always complaining about being broke and "our" players being stolen by "those" schools. :xeye:
Now I done heard it all.

Ok. :smh:
Since FCS playoffs are a rip off and not worth mentioning, can you answer this.

Why in the hell are SWAC schools wasting time and money on athletics and facilities on a D1 level if all we looking to do is play with ourselves. Since we have no interest in FCS football, why not pull out of D1 in football and just play games in our own little world. That way we can schedule all the pig feet classics and late december games we want.

BTW:
A black fraternity meeting. Of course some of them will say they saw JSU on TV. Big deal. How many people outside of that black fraternity meeting will say that? They probably saw them when they was channel surfing and I'll bet you won't find too many people outside of that HBCU world that even saw that much of the game. You really don't know how small our HBCU footprint is on the national level.

So you saying that basicly Jackson state will never be able to do what Winston Salem state is doing? Its no use in even trying, they will whip our aZZ..

Winston Salem was 1-10 in FCS before dropping down. J-State is way better than what they were at this level. 2 years ago JSU whipped another D-2 finalist in Delta State. It's a different ball game.

We just know we not getting pimped like those that are in the playoffs

Man.
These promoters are pimping our azzes every week. We come in, play the game, put the bands out front in parades and shat, make them and that city millions, and they cut us a bunk azz check for $100,000 before expenses. You will be lucky to clear $25 grand when it's all said and done.

I watched the MAC championship game on TV and immediately thought of this board. Ford Field holds what? 70K and even I knew there weren't 20K in that stadium... and that was for the right to go to a BCS game between 2 teams with one loss and ran the table in conference. People were on Twitter (from the MAC) saying that wasn't a good look.

This thread is the same ol argument on here it seems as far as pros and cons of the playoffs:

Pros: Play for the NCAA title and not just the BCF title. Whip up on the other FCS teams and prove ourselves to the rest of the nation. Increased visibility which means being able to recruit better athletes (and can also increase enrollment and donations like App State).

Cons: The bidding process is a farce. Proven time and time again that the FCS playoffs often times loses money for the schools. The SWAC can outdraw any FCS conference and a few of the lower level FBS conferences as well (I was shocked we outdrew the Pac-12 championship game as well WITH Oregon and UCLA in it). Going to the playoffs just to being going is a waste of time (at this point).

That's the truth.

So you saying that basicly Jackson state will never be able to do what Winston Salem state is doing? Its no use in even trying, they will whip our aZZ..

Not with that coaching staff they got and not within FCS D1 rules that we all follow. Not saying it can never happen. But you see how long it has been since a HBCU has done well in the FCS-1AA playoffs. We are not constructed right. That's what folks don't understand. People just think playing the opponents is the only answer. If Comegy was allowed to do what he did at Skegee, then yeah they could do what WS State is doing now.

You got to have commitment from your Administration and AD
You got to have the RIGHT football staff that understands what is needed to win at our level
You got to be able to recruit kids that are SMART and can play.
You need to have a vision and plan of action to take the program to not only to the playoffs but to win the whole damn thing. TP is right when he says just playing the game is not going to do anything for you.
You need to schedule tough FCS opponents every year. Even if it means not getting a return game. You might have to take your arse to Montana. But you got to do that in the REGULAR season yearly so you can get used to playing those type of programs before you see them in the post season.

Our schools don't PLAN. Our alums and fans just want instant action not thinking you ain't equipped yet to win isht in them playoffs.

Just going to the playoffs ain't enough. I ain't opposed to it. But I do not want SU no where near the playoffs without us having some type of vision and plan on how our program will not only play in the playoffs but we will win games and have a system in place that all we do is reload.

You would know if your school made it to the SCG to be pimped. And let's not talk about the BC.

Man.

Dude you are talking without any facts. Do as the Jag told you and post bottom line numbers or shut up with all of that garbage you're spewing. Then post the bottom line money of playoff revenue distributed to those schools less expenses. If you can't post the hard core facts with links to substantiate then you're doing what is normal for you (blowing smoke). :emlaugh: Let me make at easy on you since you referenced the BC. Start with those numbers first. Post those numbers. Again if you can't verify what you're saying shut up! :emlaugh: No other B.S. just the numbers to substantiate your warped conjecture!

You mean UCLA and Stanford?

Less folks showed up for that game because the Pac-12 controls ticket prices, which were $80 for the championship game compared to $20 to $75 for regular season games.

You made the statement that TP thought it was "all about the white folk and "white folk garbage"- something to that affect. Then you make the above statement about a black fraternity- You my friend are the worst kind of Black person- One that obivously is filled with self hate and some type of self-identity problem. I would like to see the payout for a FCS playoff game- surely you have those numbers to substaniate your argument. Or you could continue on with this mindless dribble.Let's see how you decide to respond to this post 83.

You all are getting pimped. Just accept the facts. Hell, if you all wasnt, maybe you all could afford lights on your practice field.

$80 for a CHAMPIONSHIP game???????
