You do know there was a serial killer about a few years ago, may have been this year killing kids in the state of Georgia and not a "single" fuk was given but now all of a sudden it's a cry out for this situation...
So let me ask you this...if 10 black or kids not "white" are murdered in Canada or any part of the world not called U.S. do you think they will shine the 'same' light on the situation???

Folk look at the coverage that they do when things happened in regards to race and classes...I bet you if those kids were in poor black kids..I surely doubt that you would have "not" gotten this much attention on the situation lol...Folk lets be real...tell me if you would have seen President get on T.V. and make a statement if all parties involved in the situation were black and it happened in a poor area in a black community lol...

I don't think no one is disagreeing with you about the disproportionate coverage of Black killings versus White killings. Most in this thread are discussing what legal and political measures that could be taken to keep guns out of the hands of those with the mind set of committing mass murder, in hopes that whatever measures are put in place that those measures would stop or decrease the amount of killings in both the White and Black communities.

Dude I knew Wayne Williams. Once again you are going by what you heard. I grew up in the Atl missing and murdered children. Had friends killed. Tell me something new? He lived not to far from me at that time.
CNN has done extensive reporting about Chicago violence going back to 2009. Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon even traveled to the city to do reports about it.

This is some crazy crap here. Mofos talking about using the 2nd Amendment to stop the government. I guess the 2nd Amendment gave them the right to murder Black folks in Mississippi and Alabama during the Civil Rights Movement, since the movement wasn't popular with the White majority. This is exactly what happen in Colfax, LA during the Colfax Riots. Black men were outright murdered so that the federal government couldn't change the government of Grant Parish from being majority White to Black during the Reconstruction Era.

I tell you folks what, to all of you that have a problem with folks who are compassionate about these kids getting killed, come back to this board and bring this post up when it is your mother, child, daddy or sister/brother laying in a coffin dead. :tup: Give us your point of view then. Salon.com columnist and radio talk show host David Sirota dared to provoke the conservative media on Sunday by highlighting the privileged place white men hold in America.
The media firestorm began after Sirota appeared on MSNBC’s “Up with Chris Hayes†where he discussed policy recommendations following the Sandy Hook mass shooting. Sirota emphasized that the perpetrators of most mass shootings are white men, yet Americans are “not allowed†to racially profile them as such.
Sirota’s point was that, in any other violent circumstance involving an ethnicity other than white, such as Sept. 11, racial profiling occurs. Following the Sept. 11 attacks, Muslims and Sikhs (who are not affiliated with Islam, but do look like Muslims) faced a barrage of hate crimes and racial profiling directed toward their groups. Gang violence, too, is racially profiled in regards to how the media emphasizes race in gang-related crimes (black, Latino).
Countless academic studies have looked at how race is portrayed in American media in the aftermath of serious crimes and have found that a perpetrator’s race is only mentioned if he (or she) is non-white. Following Columbine, Aurora, Colo., and Sandy Hook, the white shooters were not identified as such. Yet, following Virginia Tech and Sept. 11, the race of those responsible was highlighted.

Say this...you should feel the same way with "all" kids that get killed...kids..grown-ups whoever...
I mean the Sean Bell situation was terrible...Will there be an anniversary??? Fox News has plastered the killer’s face on all their reports for hours. Any articles or news stories yet that focus on the victims and ignore the killer’s identity? None that I've seen yet. no..and why?? kids were killed right?? so why was it blown up with "all" news stations and radio stations talking about it..
Dude, it's not everyday that someone rolls in a school and shoots 26 kids and adults. Every time a kid gets shot unfortunately isn't going to be a national story.

For one cable TV was not very where in America then. matter of fact less then 60% of Americans had access to cable lines, especially in the south. There was no internet and the only news stations were the local CBS, NBC and ABC. Different day and time.

When I heard the news about Newtown, I thought of previous mass shootings in this country. That is perhaps a natural reaction.
But then I also thought about the case of Sgt. Robert Bales. He is accused of massacring 16 Afghan civilians earlier this year, nine of them children. It is not the only atrocity of the Afghan War, but the accounts of the attack are particularly horrifying. Bales allegedly left his base and entered the villages of Balandi and Alkozai, near Kandahar. He proceeded to kill the victims as they slept, and then burned some of their bodies.
It is not that U.S. media failed to cover the atrocity. But the tone of the coverage placed considerable weight on the damage these deaths would do to the war effort (FAIR Media Advisory, 3/12/12). Questions were posed like, "Could this reignite a new anti-American backlash in the unstable region?" One headline stated, "Killings Threaten Afghan Mission." USA Today actually had on its front page, "Patriot Now Stands Accused in Massacre."
