I mean what are we suppose to do? I heard SU's baseball coach Cador was so mad that his nephew had decided to become a G-Man, that he got sick at the Praire View baseball game this weekend, while Coach Bell at Jackson State was so upset he called off Spring Football practice at JSU, until D-Man, gave JSU permission to practice at Veterens Memorial Stadium. Came up with some excuse about the track being repaired. Even JW couldn't pull that off.

It's just a nice problem to have.

Transfers make big impact for GSU football
By GSU Sports Information

Grambling, LA - Transfers can make any program a quick success. With the right players at the right positions a program has the opportunity to be successful even after a losing or disappointing season. Even though the GSU football program has won the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship three years in a row and National Black Championship, that does not mean they couldn?t use a few.

"Were always looking for players that can make a big impact on the program," said head coach Doug Williams.
The Tigers have brought in transfers that can make an immediate impact on the program. Players like Chris Day a transfer from the Troy State University where he started at the wide receiver position.

"He does have the kind of speed we like," said offensive coorindator Melvin Spears. "He is a very allusive player and has a really good feel on what we are doing."

The 6?1, 180 pound junior from Birmingham, AL chooses Grambling because of the tradition the university has.

"I decided to transfer because of the new system they implemented I wasn?t working with it well," said Day. "I originally decided to attend Grambling but because of academic situations I chose Troy State."

Another player that will impact the Tigers on the field is cornerback Seneca Lee. Lee started three years at the University of Louisiana-Monroe before deciding to change schools. Lee finished third on the team in tackles with 31 unassisted tackles and 33 assisted for a total of 64, with 2 for 6 yards lost. He ended the season leading the team in interceptions with 2 and had 5 passes defended.

"During the season the head coach resigned, so an interim coach was appointed," said Lee. "We butted heads on some issues that I felt was not something you should worry about. I also didn?t feel the family atmosphere their like I do here at Grambling."

While at Jennings high school the 5-11, 176 pound corner was a two-time 3A all-state selection as a two-way starter. Had 40 receptions for 500 yards and three touchdowns as a senior. Also had 23 career interceptions.

Defensive end Kenneth Pettaway is another player the Tigers can look to to make noise on the team for a starting position. The 6?4, 235 pound junior is a transfer from Southern Arkansas University. He is a tall defensive end with good speed off the corner. He excels at rushing and passing and the GSU coaches are hopeful the he can make an impact in 2003. This past season Pettaway played in the back-up role contributing with 4 solo tackles and 1 assisted tackle. He also had 4 tackles for 35 yards lost and 1 sack.

Last but certainly not least is Josh Kador, a Louisiana Tech transfer with ties to Southern University.

"My uncle is the Rodger Kador the head baseball coach at Southern," said Kador. "I wanted to be close to home but I didn?t want to be that close. My friends from home told me how well they were treated at Grambling and since I had an apartment up here already I decided to stay."

The Opelousas native is 6?4, 268 pound junior, who should compete for the starting defensive job in 2003. While in high school in played tight end, offensive and defensive tackle and nose guard. He was named All- Parish, All-District, and All-State. Kador?s attributes his greatest moment in high school was when they won a state track championship his senior year.

In his first season at Louisiana Tech he contributed in the back-up role with 2 solo tackles and 1 assist.

JSU originally was scheduled to start spring practice Monday. However, Bell decided to move back the starting date until Wednesday.

The Tigers are also changing venues. With the new track surrounding the main practice field still under construction, JSU will practice at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium

Congrats, see you got a bunch of winners here. Btw, what is a So Ark Univ?:jump:

Somebody might want to close the door.

Is this another weak attempt to smack JSU?
Wow.....

hey Thames....even the Gram folks cant back you up on this one.

Guys, Guys, Guys,

So many questions, ... so little time. Don't you read the SWAC Page front page headline stories? The story comes from the front page. Actually it's Roger Cador. (Spell Check Send Help). Blu, the SAU Muleriders were pretty tough last year. They may be DIV II, but went 7-4. Can PV say the same? L they might even have beaten PV.

BgJag,

It just goes to show you that all that negative academic recruiting didn't work when it came to Chris Day.

Get Ready,

You know I wouldn't make a weak attempt to SMACK JSU. It was just my way of letting you know that Veterens Memorial Stadium will be available for JSU Spring Practice on Wednesday.

I've never heard of a team "rebuilding" 2 out of 3 years.

I never heard of a program dominating the SWAC in rebuilding years too, but then there is Grambling!

What sports are those...last time I checked I can not discern which is lower -- sea level in the Crescent or SUcks RPI rating. :( :(

Post phantom commissoner's cup here ----------->

Boy.... those are some big powerhouse schools they transferred from University of LA Monroe and Troy State. Good thing they aren't from those little piss arse schools like Notre Dame or Colorado.

I'm impressed.... I guess.

bluedog,

gram is like the ugly girl in high school.......she have never been invited to the dance. Btw, ask him what were their record in b-ball just a few years ago?????:lecture:

I can not imagine the pain traditonless programs endure knowing they have no chance at a championship because of the <font size=7>I</font>con of BCF staking claim.

Bg, ask yourself the last time Pete and crew had a legitimate chance at a championship. I think we all were paying $.99 a gallon for gas during this time. According to your traditionless, SUcks has a shot in about 2018. :(

These guys will be allowed to compete for a spot. No one is a lock to start but most likely the corner will be given a strong look.
Since we play a lot of three receiver sets, the wideout will have a chance to play...he might not start because we have some projected starters who sat out last year returning.

Sounds like this statement was Taylor Made for Hambling:

Baseball Championships last 5 years? ___________

Track Championships 10 YRS?__________

Basketball Championships 20 Years? ________

Bowling, Tennis, Golf?__________

If you are not going to COMPETE at the D1 level then you may want to be a D-2 football powerhouse. You may even be above average in other sports. Word to the wise......if you lower your classification SUNO will get in that saa in basketball and your football team will continue to get shellacked by SUBR.

"Damm ... Does Grambling have to keep on getting these quality transfers?"

Looks a lot like Curley, Larry & Moe.

Let me sum this up..........

University of Southern Arkansas

nuff said

I can proudly say, this is the first time I have ever heard of the University of Southern Arkansas.

Good luck kid, as weak as Gramblings defense is, Im sure he has a great chance to start.
