Broussard to recommend hiring of Dawson Odums

I imagine our BOS rationale will be we can get rid of him easily if he don't produce. So Odums will have his work cut out for him to energize the fan base. The only way will be winning games because there will be doubts and naysayers from the outset. JR will take a wait and see approach. I would have preferred we went with Spady or even give ole Eric Dooley a shot. Never was the big Jenkins guy but I could understand the hire if we had got him. The guy I was most interested in was Maynor who I think will end up on your sideline in Tally Ho.

Did he really turn things aroung... Stump loss to a FBS and Valley (which turned out to be OK).. I think Stump was let go on believing Valley was the same on Valley but they werent... So Really might might have been a little better with Stump

This is so true. Stump was fired for the reason I said he was fired.
 
At the cheap price in which Odums has sold himself(soul) I can't see the board not approving this hire...but mark my words ole Odums will come to resent it in the end especially if there is not some type of big leap in pay the next year!

Stop being mean JR. Just cause you went to school in Scotlandville doesn't mean you have to act like them. You better than this. I know this hire have you in edge, but I did fore warn you, so it didn't catch you off guard.

This is how your new coach is being described. Not good. Word to the wise SU: In this day and age, unpopular hires don't become successful coaches.
 
I’m of the opinion that if Broussard goes to the board and says, "to move our program forward I have decided that it is in the best interest of our student-athletes that we do the same shat we did last year" and the board accepts that recommendation then SU deserves exactly what they get!

JR ain't being mean. GR just needs to slow his role. I was like that in Jackson. That's how we roll from C'way. Maybe that's why I fit in better at SU. SU is home bruh. Same way I guess you didn't fit in at Gram and made your way to JSU even though you from the Boot.
 
So is this official? The SU board has accepted the recommendation? Coach Odums has been named the head football coach at Southern? Or is this only a recommendation with no official word?

Frat, you just never know. I think this is former Board Chair Tony Clayton's last board meeting before he is gone. Never know what he might do.

Also this is not a popular recommendation so who knows what some of the members are thinking. A lot of them are new to the process. Not the same ole board.

As for opening the search up again if they say go back and bring us another recommendation. Then I would imagine our AD would have to contact Spady next or one of the other semi finalists. It just depends on how the board votes. We will see at 1:30 when they meet. Never know how many influential SU alums are trying to talk some of these board members about this decision.

Board meeting is at 1:30 pm today. We will know something probably around 3 pm I am guessing.
