Blacks nominated for Oscar

JR, I saw a tribute to Will this weekend on Bravo and it made me proud to be a black man. Everyone who got up their talked about how Will gave them a break when no one in Hollywood would do that. He is responsible for a lot of blacks making it in this industry at a young age. Imagine what is to come? They also talked about how he never lets you forget that he was born and raised in West Philly. He says that keeps him grounded and that is a true essence of success. He doesn't have to bring anyone along, but he goes out of his way to do it. Will proves that just because you from the ghetto you ain?t got to be ghetto and you can stay true to the ghetto by helping others come from where you came from. It?s not often that you hear this about young people in our society.

So glad to hear this...I loves me some Will Smith. I'm so proud of him...Jada's a lucky woman.

I love the fact the he is not afraid to let the world no he loves his wife. He said that when he married Jada he promised to give his all and never give up trying to be the best husband. He said fialer (sp) was not an option. That eve made me get tears in my eyes. Don?t tell nobody that part though.

Black Love...what a beautiful thing. It seems he loves his wife, like Christ loves the church. I wish more black men would follow his lead...maybe we wouldn't have so many broken homes, in the community.

I agree that Will has done a lot for black people in general. I said it before that he could end up being the first Black President. I just thought that this movie was not on that level. He did a good job as usual, but it was not his best work.

I remember Will leading a protest outside the Grammy Awards in the late 80's, urging the Grammy people to place Rap and Hip-Hop on the Grammy voting tables.

I haven't seen Forest Whitaker's movie. I understand it's getting alot of attention, and I'm not suprised. Whitaker is an outstanding performer. But if I had a vote, it would go to Will Smith for "The Pursuit of Happyness."

I thought he did a great job in "Ali," but he has outdone himself in this one! Talk about a performance for the ages. His son deserves a Best Supporting Actor nomination! That kid was unbelievable in this film!!

There aren't many films that move me to tears....this one did. On the day that I went to see it, the whole theater was in tears when this one was over.

Fresh Prince who?

Maybe it's just me, but Will Smith gets a free pass from me because he help brought along so many people in the game. Plus he never forgets where he came from and will represent West Philly to the hardest. He is just reaping what he has sowed. So I hope he wins just because.

Well I agree there is a lot of white actors that I always come up every other year that to me cant really act. I heard about so many things that Will has done for his peeps. I do know one thing he is getting paid good.

Hey, I didn't cry! Something was just in my eye at the time and it started to water a little, thats all. Anyway... What more did you want? Explosions?:swink:

LMAO Did you get some Visine for that problem and a little Kleenex.

Let me hear the church say AMEN

What about the black women? Man cannot do it by his self.

I believe what W~ is saying is when you find a man that loves his wife as Christ loved the church, a wife would have no problem submitting to him. It would come naturally.

She would be down for him like four flat tires...:)

It shows through Will and Jada. She loves that man and don't mind telling it, so he has got to be doing something right. With an emphasis on RIGHT!

That sounds good in theory, but unfortunately it doesn't always work like that. No matter how good you are to people, they still find fault in you when they want a way out. Selfishness works on both sides. For every good man, it?s a woman taking advantage of that and the same thing can be said the other way around. Society just chooses to focus on the man and gives the woman a pass.

I've never known THE WORD to lie. Never once did HE say we wouldn't have situations, we just wouldn't have problems...;)

The word does not lie...

22Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.
24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
25Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her
26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word,
27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.
28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

How did I know some man on here would come and attempt to start some schitt about what I posted. Typical..:smh:
