Bama View....Im not thru

He finished 6-5 his first year. 8-4 his second, and 6-6 last year. How is he ahead of the curve if he finished last in his 3rd year? Its not like you guys improved towards the end of the year, you started off well but stunk up the place in the latter part of the season. If you're using new players, shouldn't a good coach make them improve as the season goes? And if they were established players, why did you finish last? I'm not looking at just one year either. Your 2000 team was 6-5. That's good? Yes you beat us, but so did UAPB. Does 6-5 with a win over JSU sound better to you than just 6-5? I sure doesn't to me.
You've gotten 1 good year out of Cole, but at what cost? You guys got several good years out of Markham, and it didn't come at the cost you're paying now.

As for Bell, he is a good Xs and Os man. You say he isn't, i see 20 years experience that says otherwise. If you wanna look at his record at Chavez as a test of his ability, so be it. But if he didn't know his stuff, he wouldn't have lasted as a coach for 20 years. I don't know how things work in Bama, but in the other 49 states, PWCs don't usually make it a practice to keep hiring Black guys who can't coach. The teams he worked with weren't powerhouses, but they were all had some success(except Indiana) on defense during his tenure there.

Do me a favor, Check L.C. Cole's resume prior to TSU and compare it to Bell's. I know you won't look past last year at Chavez, but if you did, you'd see that Bell had better credentials than Cole.

I guess you refuse to acknowledge my spill about the recruiting. Besides, that 3rd, 4th year theory is yours, not mine!

I bet you didn't know that I can ask the EXACT same thing about your coach and what he did last year!!!!! What's that ole saying bout "sweeping around your own door"

I'm not looking at just one year either. Your 2000 team was 6-5. That's good? Yes you beat us, but so did UAPB.
Sorry, but JSU aint some universal measuring stick and the fact that UAPB beat you too means nothing.

Does 6-5 with a win over JSU sound better to you than just 6-5?
Yes, it does.
6-5 with a win over JSU or 6-5 with a loss to JSU. Which would you think I would say is better.

If anybody who's been on TSPN answer you differently, they're lying!

You've gotten 1 good year out of Cole,
When you did the analysis of Cole's years, for some reason, you didn't mention the good year, so tell me bout it. What made it good?

As for Bell, he is a good Xs and Os man. You say he isn't
Nope, I didn't! I said we can't say and we can't. In his ONLY year as head coach, well, we all know the results of that!!!

PWCs don't usually make it a practice to keep hiring Black guys who can't coach.
So, are you suggesting that PWCs are the measuring stick of all that is right and good?

Do me a favor, Check L.C. Cole's resume prior to TSU and compare it to Bell's. I know you won't look past last year at Chavez, but if you did, you'd see that Bell had better credentials than Cole.
Since we didn't hire Cole as either offensive or defensive coordinator and you didn't "hire" Bell as either offensive or defensive coordinator, I'll prefer to look at their record in the positions that they were hired for. I doubt that you'll still want to talk about who had the better credentials!

Your spill on recruiting didn't measure up. If Cole was such a good recruiters, you should be stocked with good young talent. And apparently you're not, cause you wouldn't be counting on transfers to save your season if you did.

I bet you didn't know that I can ask the EXACT same thing about your coach and what he did last year!!!!! What's that ole saying bout "sweeping around your own door"

We "swept" Hughes right out of here last year. But you'd lose your bet, because our team won its last 4 games.

Sorry, but JSU aint some universal measuring stick and the fact that UAPB beat you too means nothing.

If we weren't a measuring stick, then why are you guys so happy when you beat us? It means nothing when you finish last.

Yes, it does.
6-5 with a win over JSU or 6-5 with a loss to JSU. Which would you think I would say is better.

Maybe so, but only smalltime smacker think that way. For us, going 7-4 with a win over Southern wasn't any better than 7-4 with a loss to Southern. We want to beat Bama State because we want to beat every team on our schedule.

When you did the analysis of Cole's years, for some reason, you didn't mention the good year, so tell me bout it. What made it good?

You finished 8-4(same number of losses we have in our worst years) and lost in the SCG, which is excellant for you all. That would be a so-so season for JSU.

Nope, I didn't! I said we can't say and we can't. In his ONLY year as head coach, we know the results, but I don't

You act as if he coached a College Team last year. I don't care what he did last year. All I know is this year, he's working with better facilities, a good staff, and proven talent.

[/b]So, are you suggesting that PWCs are the measuring stick of all that is right and good? [/b]

They are when it comes to Coaching Football. Maybe you haven't noticed, but the days of Eddie Robinson, W.C. Gordon and Jake Gaither are over. The white schools nowadays are better coached than ours. To deny this is to deny reality.

Since we didn't hire Cole as either offensive or defensive coordinator and you didn't "hire" Bell as either offensive or defensive coordinator, I'll prefer to look at their record in the positions that they were hired for. I doubt that you'll still want to talk about who had the better credentials!

Talk about spin. We hired a proven defensive coach with no real head coaching experience. Your coach has proven that he can go 11-0 with a real program(and some D-1A transfers). He's also proven that he can finish last and create a circus with Bama State.

Looking at the situations as of this moment, only a fool would say Cole is in better shape than Bell.

Hell, I'll say!

That dude is the worst X and O man I have ever seen. I saw his azz coach in person last year. Seven men in the box against a spread offfense. One saftety left to cover two wide open receivers. This stuff was so bad it was almost comical.

He didn't give his players a chance in that game and they knew it. That's probably why they tried to dump a trash can on his head.

Right on cue :smh:

BTW, did you see Smalltime's defense when Morgan State dropped 52 on them? Oh, I forgot, he was Hampton's defensive line coach.

Damn Kool-Aid...dont be so mean bruh.

I like the way you answer questions and explain stuff while mh constantly tries to sidestep and pick out one or two words to smack on. Believe me, you are never going to get a straight answer out of that guy. He thinks what is going on in Bama View now is normal.

hahahahahah
Obviously, you didn't know that we were using a lot of freshmen and sophomores to kick your arse last year. Did you know that the same defense that smothered your offense had 6 underclassmen starting!!!!!

Maybe so, but only smalltime smacker think that way. For us, going 7-4 with a win over Southern wasn't any better than 7-4 with a loss to Southern.
That's a lie and you know it's a lie!!!! The mere suggestion that playing and losing to a rival means nothing to you is a bunch of crock!!!!!! And please save that old tired stuff about how you would rather win all the games on your schedule. Heck, EVERYBODY feels that way.

You finished 8-4(same number of losses we have in our worst years) and lost in the SCG, which is excellant for you all. That would be a so-so season for JSU.
So, I guess the last 7 years have been a bust for JSU! Too bad that includes your best team in 15 years!!!!

and please, go back and tell me again how Bell, coming off a 1-9 season in his ONLY year as head coach, was a better hire than
Cole, coming off two OVC championships and an undefeated regular season.
:smh::smh:

mh.....
I think Kool Aids point is, why were you playing with underclassmen and why did your talent suck so bad that you finished in last place? If Coles is such a great coach, shouldnt he have been coming into last season with his first recruiting class ready to go instead of you guys falling apart, players quiting, and you having no talent on your team. You guys were so bad that you lost to Pine Bluff and Valley. Why didnt Coles in his 3rd year have better talent ready? I know you arent going to answer, but thats the question on the table.

That's a lie and you know it's a lie!!!! The mere suggestion that playing and losing to a rival....
I stopped reading this quote right here. mh, you are not our rival. For the most part BAma View is still a joke school to JSU. We dont get up for your school and thats the fault of our coaching staff, but again you know, that problem has been solved. Bell is very intense. I can assure you we wont be pussyfooting around at all this year.

and please, go back and tell me again how Bell, coming off a 1-9 season in his ONLY year as head coach, was a better hire than
Cole, coming off two OVC championships and an undefeated regular season.
:smh::smh:
And again I ask you the question.....how has Coles great OVC experience helped him at Bama View. You will not answer my question. Did Coles take Bama View to last place or did Bama View take Coles to last place? You have not addressed this yet. Since his past experience as a good coach is not helping, wouldnt it prudent to say that in coaching its more about where you are than who you are and your knowledge might help just a little?

Could Coles turn Prairie View around because of his OVC championship experience? NO...just like Bell didnt turn around a new upstart HIGH SCHOOL (in two weeks) that was getting smeared across Houston BEFORE he got there.

Hey BT
Why dont you tell us the name of the school that Bell wouldnt give a chance to dump a trash can on his head.

Because, like I said, the juco players initially recruited had, for the most part, finished their two years. Hence, you saw a lot of underclassmen playing. And I don't have to remind you that these same underclassmen beat your best.........15......
Again this year, another class was signed, composed mostly of high school players. Pretty soon, a full compliment of classes.

Why didnt Coles in his 3rd year have better talent ready?
see above!

I stopped reading this quote right here. mh, you are not our rival.
Dude, what I said went right on over your head. :smh:
Is not SU a rival to JSU? Answer that for me.

I tell ya, talking to you jsue folks is something else, because yall say soooo much stuff that contradicts each other. :(
Maybe yall need to go into your "private" forum and try to get on one accord.

And I'll ask you, if you're in the market for a head coach and one coach has just come off an undefeated regular season and 2 conference championships and another coach had just finished 1-9 in his only season as a coach, who would you say has the best credentials to be head coach???????

try to think of a good one now!

I'll stand up MH. Our record was 6-2. What was your school's record? We were ranked second in our conference. Where were you ranked?

It depends. Taking EVERYTHING into consideration.... If one coach is being run out of a program because of NCAA violations and the other coach has 20 years of prior experience, and if one coach has a horrible reputation and is known to destroy his surroundings, and the other is an upstanding citizen with a plan to not only coach football but MANAGE the ENTIRE football program, develop players into men, develop JSU into a D1 program, I think you might want to take a strong look at the guy that coached 3 months at some loser high school.

Nope, I just pointed out the fact that yall sold 3 tickets for them. That's all.

:(

and GR, the point about rivals is this, since you still can't understand the point:

Your boy koolaid basically said that your losing to SU (your rival) doesn't matter, no more than it would than losing to someone who's not your rival. And mh didnt say jsue was ASU's rival (of course, your previous coaches did). But, you've proven to be nothing more than simple fodder and an easy win for ASU. I mean, even your best team......15

oh well

btw, I knew you would find a way to say that a coach who has won 10% of his games has impressive credentials.

Dude

The reason we keep riding the nutts of Pine Bluff and Valley and Tuskegee and Alcron is just to show you that your win over JSU was a fluke. Both you know it and I know it. You won, no doubt. Your team gets up for us and sees us a CHIEF rival and a big game, but JSU fans and players just dont get excited about Bama View. All that is about to change this year. You have a coach that prepares for ONE game every year. We now have a coach that is going to prepare for 13 games a year.

I didn't say losing to Southern didn't matter. I said when the overall season is mediocre, then beating a rival doesn't make me feel any better. 6-5 is not good, I don't care if you beat the Miami Hurricanes.

You've won the last 3 years by 11, 3 and 4 points. If that's easy, I'd hate to see hard. I guess when you're 5-27 against a team, any win looks like a blow-out.

Cole has Tigers seeing red

Alabama State coach has turned matchup into something 'personal'
By Mark Alexander
[email protected]

L.C. Cole has added spice to the Jackson State-Alabama State series since arriving in Montgomery a couple of years ago. The Hornets go for their third straight victory over the Tigers Saturday in Mobile.

"(Alabama State) used to just be another game on the schedule," JSU coach Robert Hughes said.

That was prior to two years ago, prior to the arrival of coach Lawrence "L.C." Cole. Since Cole stepped foot in Montgomery, Alabama State has beaten JSU two straight times, and suddenly what once was just another game on the schedule has turned into one that's circled prior to the start of the season.

Adding fuel to the newborn rivalry is the bad blood that exists between Cole and some members of JSU's staff. Those coaches won't state it on the record, but it's no secret they don't particularly care for Cole, who has beaten JSU four straight times dating back to his days at Tennessee State.

JSU offensive coordinator Darrell Asberry did offer this: "It used to be just business, now it's more personal."

Said Cole: "It's there. It's kind of like, forget the school, it's more the name of the coach."

Cole, who interviewed for the job that Hughes got, then added somewhat sarcastically: "I love those guys."

Cole says the differences began in his first year at Tennessee State when he received a blank tape from then-JSU coach James Carson.

"I exchanged films with him and when I got mine it was a bad tape," Cole said. "I put it in and it was blank. I said, 'what is going on here.'"

In turn, Cole didn't send a tape to JSU the following year. JSU won both games, and Cole says JSU's assistant coaches "jaw-jacked" at his assistant coaches in the elevator after each game.

The following year, Cole stood in a press conference the week of the Southern Heritage Classic and proclaimed: "We tapped on the door once, we've knocked on it once, and this year we're going to tear it down."

Cole and Tennessee State backed that statement up with a 33-21 victory, starting Cole's recent run of success against JSU.

When Alabama State beat JSU in Cole's first year, Hornets players tore down a goalpost afterward and took it back to Montgomery with them. And last year, Cole claimed JSU dissed he and his program by scheduling the Hornets for homecoming.

More recently, Cole told Alcorn State offensive coordinator John McKenzie that "We're going to get Jackson State for y'all" after the Braves' win over the Hornets two weeks ago in Lorman. Tuesday night on his weekly radio show, Cole denied making that statement.

"If he wants to keep whispering things in McKenzie's ear, that's OK," Asberry said.

Alabama State won 35-24 two years ago in Mobile for its first victory over JSU since 1991, then backed that up with a 61-58 win in Jackson last season. The loss in Mobile put an early end to JSU's hopes of a repeat trip to the SWAC title game, and the Hornets used last year's game in Jackson as a springboard toward a SWAC East title.

That alone would make Cole an unpopular man in Jackson. Throw in the bad blood, and the fact that Cole and Alabama State are once again standing in the way of the Tigers' path to Birmingham, and it's enough to make him Public Enemy No. 1.

JSU, 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the SWAC, faces Alabama State, 4-2 and 1-2, Saturday in Mobile. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.

"L.C. Cole said some things we didn't appreciate, and they beat us on homecoming last year so it's really about revenge right now," said JSU quarterback Robert Kent,

There's plenty of incentive for both teams. Not only would a JSU win snap Cole's personal four-game win streak over the Tigers, it would all but terminate the Hornets' plans for a repeat trip to Birmingham in December.

"Our backs are against the wall," Cole said.

One thing JSU needs to do is focus on beating Alabama State, not Cole, Asberry said.

"We've got to stay focused as players and coaches," Asberry said. "The main thing is going down there and winning the game. We want to put a 'W' on our side of the column, and we don't plan on coming through the back door or the side door to get it. We're coming straight through the front door."
:lol::lol::lol:

revenge, huh Kint?
Not to mention the stuff that was said on the interviews during the game!!!

People say what is politically correct to say to the paper...for the most part(with the exception of Assberry). But as far as you guys go, you just dont excite us. You would like to think you do, but you are a smalltime out of the way in the way operation. Im sorry, thats just the way we see you. Maybe that will change one day, but I doubt it.

Nope...it wont change. With Bell at the helm, we are about to start lambasting yalls ass like we use to. Oh well....
